  1. They aren't Garry Rouch's but they come in many different lengths and actions and also one and two piece.
  2. Lake Trout have a wonderful taste to them so the simpler you make them the better they are. If around the 2 lbs range (really good eating size) I fillet them and skin them. Just add salt and pepper and dip in flour, fry in your favourite oil and butter and sprinkle lemon overtop. If over that size fillet them but leave the skin on and marinate the fillets in a little olive oil, garlic, dill, salt and pepper...bbq over high heat for about 7-9 mins.
  3. This link works fine..... http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.CFP...UGHAN_CIRCULAR1
  4. Yep right on Roger. Shimano Canada is participating.....15 bucks off a Sahara reel with reel trade in now thats droolable lol.
  5. Clampet: Lake Trout have a great taste especially in that 2 lbs range. Trout even taste good with the simplest ingredients. Just even with salt, pepper dipped in flour and fried in oil and butter sprinkled with lemon over top. Or if your getting in to the larger sizes 3lbs and up your better off bbqing it or even smoking it largely due to the fat content. But either way lakers taste great.
  6. What a fantastic day it was lol. Living in the GTA my friends and I leave the house early so that we can get a parking spot at our destination. We encounter a beautiful winter storm and visibility was horrendous off the 400. Snow covered roads also didn't help the driving. Finally get there and it wasn't to cold but the wind was fierce lol at at least 30-40 km. At first light the bite was great marking a lot of fish and landing two out of our group. Still managed a nice 2-3 lbs laker. Then quite a few hours later I decide to rest my rod on my chair and walk to my friends hut. After our little chat I walk back over to my chair and I see my chair tipping over and with a blink of an eye there goes my rod down the hole. My stupidity leaving it like that in the wind. Luckily my friend had the genius idea of jigging a heavy spoon off the bottom and low and behold my luck changed somewhat I hooked on to it and retrieved it. But all in all still a good day.
  7. It's a real nice reel. The drag is awesome just as with any stradic and it is so so so light. Beautiful reel.
  8. It was great. Just season with salt and pepper and dip in flour, fry up in oil and butter and squeeze some lemon over top. Simple as that... the smaller ones are better eating than the bigger ones.
  9. Awesome day on hard water today. It was nice to be out in warmer than usual weather. Fished on 100 feet of water. We caught 9 in total between the 2 of us but most were small. Still managed 3 keepers for dinner(2 for my buddy and 1 for me). Smallest fish being 3 lbs and the biggest 7 lbs. Unfortunately I forgot to take a pic while I was out there but here is one already filleted and ready for the frying pan. Hopefully I can make it out to the Fishing For Tyler Get Together so that I can meet some OFNers and get Roger (BPSbassman) fishing on hard water lol.
  10. Steve's Huts....Never got skunked with him yet 705-426-7229 Smokey's.....Really nice well maintained huts. He'll even move your hut if your not catching. Great service. 905-722-7289 http://lakesimcoemessageboard.com/listingN...ting=1135097432 http://lakesimcoemessageboard.com/listingN...ting=1105193431
  11. Shimano Sedona could be had for $60-70 pretty nice smooth lightweight reel. The pflueger as well is a pretty decent one too.
  12. If its on cooks the two best operators are either whitey with Simcoe Fishing Adventures in keswick or Peter Ice Cabins Of Gilford. Both have good quality service but I think Peter price is cheaper and he is one of the most helpful with his ice reports. http://icecabins.com/ http://www.simcoefishingadventures.com/
  13. Photo from cooks bay fishing board. Boys everyone better think twice when bringing a heavy vehicle or hut on the ice. Its not safe yet to support the weight. This just happened today at the end of 89 on cooks. Unbelieveable I just fished there on Wednesday and now the shore line is in cahoots. Gilford has only 4.5 inches of ice I don't know what these guys were thinking.
  14. Yep that sale has been going on since last week. Lots of ice fishing lures on clearence. I'll be glad to help any of you boys out so come on down. Luigi
  15. They fight as well as any bass such an awesome fish. Hey pikie were you at the store last weekend. I thought I saw you there but I was busy running around with customer service calls and then I wanted to come and help you out but I couldn't find you. Well anyways see you around.
  16. I finally got my first steelie of 06-07 after about 4 outings and first in 4 years lol (just never fished for them). I caught it last Thursday. I wanted to post it sooner but I was dumb enough not to bring my own camera and I just got the pic from my friend today. Went out with 3 friends that I work with from BPS and we had a blast 10 fish in total were caught that day. I really seem to enjoy fishing for steelhead it's for some reason really refreshing. It might be because of how calming the river is and how nice the scenery is it's just great. And one last thing I recall people getting skunked fishing for steel, I say no matter what keep at it in the end its worth it.
  17. 9 am is fine. There will be people on the docks just find a spot and fish no need to cast either. Minnows, jigheads 1/16 1/32 tipped with tiny grubs or mini tubes are great, bring a couple pike lures for yourself they are in there as well.
  18. There is a bait shop off the 400 it is past the rutherford and major mackenzie exits. Its at the service station within king city right off the 400 N Fish Ontario Angling Inc. As for fishing one of the best shore spots on Simcoe right now is the Barrie docks. The perch are in the thousands there you and your son will have non stop action. To get there take 400 North and get into Barrie exit at Essa road. Make a right on Essa (north), right on tiffin st. and a left on lakeshore dr. and you can't miss it. Have fun. Tight lines
  19. Well rizzo and 007 are right. People are keeping anything and everything. I brought home 25 between two people. At that same day that I was up there some guys were 20 and even 50 fish over their limit and keeping all dinks luckily a c.o. was checking for licenses and spotted them. He confiscated all their tackle and equipement and possibly their licenses. The second time I was up there I couldn't tell you if people were over their limit but a lot of people weren't selective of their catches they were keeping a lot of dinks.
  20. Went there last thursday and we caught 25 9-12 inchers. Met pikie there too. The pic is of a 12 incher from that day. Today I went there again, the bite and schools just disappeared. The slight change in cold weather may have spooked them who knows. Hopefully we can get some ice. And yea the bigger ones are on bottom and away from the schools in deeper water. Tight lines
  21. Hey Pikie, how's it going? How did ya make out last night? Got enough for a fish fry. Oh yeah you forgot to tell everyone that you almost got locked out. See ya at BPS sometime. Here's a pic of that perch hawg just a little over 12 inches.
  22. Thats awesome Roger. Hard water season is upon us we'll see you on hard water this season.
  23. yep bps is having a seminar in December as well
