Being a bass guy, the idea of fighting a fish on a 100 ft rubber band (mono) doesn't tickle my fancy. Want to see if I can "feel" the fight more. I opted for a medium power, medium/slow action 10'6" shimano technium rod to cushion the headshakes.

Looking to spool up my mooching reels this year for lakers .... wondering if anyone is trolling with braid with no flea issue as the Lake Ontario trollers encounter. Possible or impossible? Fleas that big of an issue on Simcoe? Can I troll with braid? I completely understand the other issues with braid, just looking for issues on feasibility, not recommendations. I currently use Kulik's Swammer on a football jig head ... just looking for something different that the fish may haven't seen.

Any tried these on Simcoe? I'm more intersted in Balog's but they are only available via tacklewarehouse.com for $15/each and I would suspect the Storm's are more readily available and cheaper.

Thinking of downrigging for lakers with a moocher setup ..... looking to make the experience of trolling and fighting a laker a tad more involving. Other than a busted knuckle here and there ... anyone try or regularly do so? Just wondering what power rods and line setup works best without feeling like you're draggng them up on a dull fiberglass stick. Thanks in advance, Mark

The vault is still charging full MSRP. Online and in the US shows the same.

Hi All, I've had my boat in Sparrow for the last 4 years, but sold it and went with a larger boat. Decided to drop it in Simcoe in a marina in Cook's Bay. In efforts to save on gas, looking to stay south of Cook's Bay shoal, but if a run to Long Island is worth it ......? Largies in visible structure (reeds/pads/banks) are easy and looking more for deep water help, but any help with Cook's Bay would be appreciated, PM, email, text or phone will work.
