Hey mdej, I think your talking about spinning reels but the same premice holds true here. Last year I bought a new bait caster rod and reel which I spooled up with 20 LB braid PP I think. I found that it was so sensative (with no stretch) that my hook ups were great, BUT I when started fighting the fish I ended up losing quite a few more than with just straight mono and I'm thinking it's because I horsed the fish and/or my drag was too tight... So this year I'll going to loosen my drag and use a 6-8ft. flouro leader. I forgot to mention that I would be tube jigging here, don't think it makes as much difference when running crank, spinner or buzz baits from a sensativity perspective. Oh yeah, Let us know what you decide and also how you found the lines worked for you.

I am guessing that it's a deep cycle battery and not cold crankin battery ( sorry if I don't have the correct terms) so have you tried chraging it agian? Slow and steady. It may keep a charge O.K. you don't know unless you try. Deep cycle batteries last a long time (years) if you keep them charged up all of the time. Let us know

OhioFisherman, It's going to be ice melting conditions around here too. Moe, We've never met, but I know your situation like it was yesterday. Be strong at time like this and be there for your freind. I have had to say Good-bye to a loved dog not too long ago- she had a tumor. Now we have 11 yr old and 1 yr old Labs and can see that picture coming again soon. Big Cliff says it best...I still remember and love that Jessie dog.

Bly, I liked that not only did you catcha nice one ....you told us the truth about the cleaning part. So often we catch stuff but stop showing the full picture. In this case the hen was full of roe and your daughter left the room. Awsume job! (not that you made your daughter leave the room but that you showed her the way that it is!) Hi David, I purchased a BC reel and rod last year and am very happy with it now- hated it at first because I couldn't get the hang of it. I have a Quantum Accurist reel w/ 7' MH BPS (Bionic) rod setup. Could you explain a little bit more about getting the reel setup properly? I think I should be getting more distance with my casts and actually asked a Quantum rep at the fishing show. He suggested putting a drop of "Hot Sauce" (oil) on the bearings. Is there more stuff I could look at? Sorry Jeremy, I don't want to hijack your thread, but was thinking we could both learn.

Hey MTP Sandbanks and Kilbear are the two most popular Provincial Parks in Ontario. In order to get in I've had success calling the 800 number the day I was eligable to book (so many months in advance) RIGHT AT 7AM!!!! They are pretty good there about telling you availablity for that second but your better off using the site for the map and campsite numbers so you can have that info ready for the phone call. It's a challenge to say the least.

Gas was 99.9 in the Cambridge area today...prolly didn't have the guts to hit the $ 1.00 mark (looks bad and all) BUT you know it's going to come in light of today's trading. Doesn't take them much to infuse panic these days. Even if it's only their own minds.

I've only been out twice this year...had lots of time over Xnas this year but no ice. The times I did go we were in a blizzard and pretty much got skunked. Not complaining though, nothing like starting your day with Bailey's in your morning coffee.

I hunt Geese and Ducks and recently the law changed so you cannot shoot lead shot anymore, so I've been using Tungsten Steel shot for Geese and it's about $3.50 a round. Don't know why because I hunt corn fields mostly (nowhere near any water) So I'm all in favor of keeping our waters free from lead but even steel shot is about a buck a shot ...I won't be wasting any money on them Sh!t ducks. I just got my renewal form for my Possesion and Accuision license and I figured they'd be pinching me for a 100 bucks or so to keep in good standings for the next 5 years but, to my surprise, if I act on it right away they will waive the fees accosiated. When they did away with the old system (Firearm Acquision Certificate) a few years ago I needed to take and pay for a course send them over $130. If anyone has received the papers in the mail as well, you should have a look at them because you may be able to get you PAL compliments of the Federal Government Now that don't happen everyday.
