  1. Congrats, I'm so jealous, it takes me nearly 3 hrs to drive to the Kawarthas. I fully intend to retire much closer though. Come on 649!!!
  2. Good to hear there are still some good sized bass in there despite all the increased angling pressure.
  3. There are some called salty 2 from Downeaster. Musky guys trust them for their expensive gear so they gotta be good.
  4. So when are you going to invite me over to help you eat em?
  5. Yes there are smallies in Scugog, big ones too. This was caught from the ramp in Cesarea in September 2005 by the Shipper on a white spinnerbait. I believe it was 18.5".
  6. I weighed a 19" smallie last year with about the same girth and it weighed 3.3lbs. Nice fish by any standards.
  7. Way to go Joonmoon & Goog. Glad to see your cast isn't holding you back from catching fish. You have to love the conservation areas for fishing.
  8. Hey man, what kind of kayak did you buy? I used mine for two seasons before I rigged a camera mount. Best thing I ever did was get into kayak fishing. The stealth factor is awesome. Can't wait to see more reports from kayak anglers.
  9. You could fish off the causeway at lake Eugenia. It's not that far from Wasaga. Lots of decent bass to be had from shore there.
  10. Congrats Dude, a couple of beauties there.
  11. Nice fish. Isn't it strange for browns to be within casting distance of shore this time of year? Maybe I'll have to take a trip down to Lake O with my kayak and fish some tribs.
  12. Try Island lake in Orangeville or Guelph lake or Kelso if you don't want to see any gas burners. If that doesn't bother you try Puslinch, Belwood or Conestoga lakes.
  13. Congrats! That is one serious lookin' kid
  14. Decided to go to Eugenia today instead of fighting the crowds on the weekend. Arrived at the launch at noon and fished till 4:30pm. I knew I would be working hard for any fish after last night's cold front. Paddled against the wind from the launch for 30 minutes to get to my weedbed. Wind was 25km/h and the high for the day was 20C. Found it very hard to plunk the weed pockets because of the strong breeze. Finally got a bite around 2:30pm. Landed this 16" largemouth on a 3/8oz weedless jig & large white grub. There were about 12 trucks and boat trailers at the launch but I only seen two boats fishing, one jetski and one guy just flying on a sailboard. The wind was out of the north and I drifted back to the car without touching the paddle. Unfortunately I had no other bites all day.
  15. Nice smallie Rich. Tubes rule up in this area of the Grand as well. Nothing tempts a smallie like a soft shelled crayfish, it's gotta be their favourite meal.
  16. Just started raining here in KW at 5pm. Lots of thunder and wind as well.
  17. Hey man, you got yourself a tiger musky there. I have heard of more and more of them being caught in both Elephant and Baptiste over the last few years. The markings are a dead give away, especially since they go all the way up the cheeks. Great report and pics.
  18. I caught this largemouth in the Omemee pond in Sept. 95. It was 22" long and had a 16" girth. It was taken on a 6" black sluggo. Welcome to the board ty1on, I'll be watching for your report. Don't forget to take lots of pics, we like pics here. Good luck.
  19. Emily PP is a good one if you can get a reservation. Maybe try Guelph lake conservation area. Good beaches, nice campsites and good bass and pike fishing as well as panfish. Also try Valens conservation area. They have great campsites, a better beach than Guelph and more than enough panfish for any little one. They also have a nice playground and trails for walking and exploring. Both Guelph & Valens have "no gas motor" restrictions, but that just makes for a more peaceful camping trip.
  20. There is an outfitter in Kitchener that specializes in canoe trips on the Grand. Even if you don't use him, his maps and distances might be of some use to you. http://www.canoeingthegrand.ca On Sunday I did a kayak trip from the bridge in Bridgeport to the bridge in Freeport. It took 8 hrs because we stopped to fish every fishy looking spot. We did meet a bunch of people (about 8 canoes) who were in the middle of their trip from Elora to Paris. The water is very low now and will only be getting lower unless we get some rain this week. My report from Sunday is back a few pages if you're interested.
  21. I was there last weekend and all the carp I saw were lively and in the mood for love. I was about 5km from Bobcaygeon.
  22. Wow, that bass is three times bigger than the CN tower. Congrats on the LM, nice looking fish. Great report too.
  23. CONGRATS!!! I'm going to try to get my 7yr old daughter into a musky at Pigeon lake this year when we rent a cottage in July. She's usually a big bluegill and sunfish master with the odd perch thrown in for variety. She did get her first bass, a smallie on topwater no less, off the dock last year. Great pic too by the way.
  24. The Grand gets as shallow as 6" in some spots we travelled. The most productive depths were between 3-5' with rocky bottom. We don't usually have to worry about shallow water till the end of August. The fact that it is so dry already makes me wonder how deep it will be in August. We need some rain in a bad way.
  25. Great report & pics. Island lake does have it's share of lunkers. Glad to see you tracked a few of them down.
