  1. this may be an option if you feel like a drive to Orillia............. BOAT SHOW STARTS TODAY Enjoying summer sports may just be what people need to relieve the stress of an unstable economy, said the organizer of a local boat and cottage show. With 80 to 100 boats of all sizes for sale, the Spring Boat, Cottage and Outdoor Show which runs from today through Sunday, offers just that, Doug Bunker said. "Everybody's a little bit nervous (about the economy), let's face it. But I think people still come up and use their cottages, or their boats," Bunker said. "They'll still spend their money on things that cause less stress in life." The annual in-water boat show fills the Port of Orillia's docks with new and pre-owned boats from inflatables to offshore performance and fishing boats to cruisers, he said. The show offers private and commercial owners an opportunity to sell their boats. "Where else can you go and try the boat out right there in Lake Simcoe?" Bunker said. "Most people put down a deposit to pay for gas, to avoid joy riders." The event's attendance was dampened last year by a combination of unpleasant weather and high gas prices. "It affected not only sales, but general attitude up there," Bunker said. There will be displays and vendors, including marine safety demonstrations and boat licensing information, he said. There will also be a high-performance boat poker run tomorrow to support the Orillia volunteer firefighters, Bunker said. "They're big, they're fast they're 1,000 horse-power and they're pretty amazing boats," he said. "They're like the Formula One of the boating industry." The boats leave from the Port of Orillia at 10 a. m. to officially start in the Atherley Narrows, Bunker said. They will travel from Orillia to Cooks Bay, Lagoon City and down to Barrie for lunch before returning to Orillia at approximately 3 p. m. Article ID# 1609982

  5. Hi guys Just curious if there is such a thing as a tiller extension handle? Seems I have to stretch a bit to reach the handle from my little clamp on seat; would be nice if it was closer....if there is, is it easy to install? thx PS was in Gloucester Pool today trying to find the ever elusive walleye up there; kinda skunked but weather wasnt that great! Oh well, at least I wasn't at work today!! hardly any cottagers too,,nice and quiet up there for sure! I'll find em one of these days! thx guys

  12. thanks guys had me wondering about the 'backwards' application! I'm pretty sure the arrow was towards the motor...I'm going to taker 'er in today and see if they can tell..thanks for the replies.... here's a pic....(also seems to sit low with the weight of the motor and myself in it, although when it was running I was able to get it on plane at a decent speed but when in slow speed seemed to 'run high' at the bow.....need a big anchor at the front I guess! lol
  13. Hi guys So my neighbour and I were opening up her cottage today on Gloucester Pool and after putting the motor on the back of the boat and firing it up, after putting it in gear it would quit every time. I am assuming the gas isnt getting through some how but it was driving us crazy. She just had it tuned up for this year so we thought we were good to go...I did bring the gas line that connects up to the motor home with me; it has seen better days and was going to take it into the marine place where she had it tuned. The primer bulb didnt want to keep firm so I dunno....maybe we just need a new line? kind of frustrating to say the least as she just got the boat last year from her cottage neighbour.. any thoughts greatly appreciated.. thanks Richard

  19. One Saturday morning a man gets up early, dresses quietly, gets his lunch made, puts on his long johns, grabs his dog, goes to the garage to hook up his boat to the truck and down to the driveway he goes. Coming out of his garage the rain is pouring down: it is like a torrential downpour. There is snow and sleet mixed in with the rain. The wind is blowing at over 50mph. Minutes later he returns to the garage. He comes back into the house. Turns the TV to the weather channel and he finds it is going to be very bad weather all day long, so he puts his boat back in the garage, quietly undresses and slips back into bed. There he cuddles up to his wife's back, now with a different anticipation and whispers, "The weather out there is terrible". To which she sleepily replies, "Yeah, can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in it?" any more?
  20. Hey guys Went for a drive today..beauty day! Big Chute Marine Railway is about 30km from my place so decided to go for a drive on my day off...man was it nice...no bugs, no tourists, just a beautiful day near the water....threw a line in the water but no bites...didnt matter though as it was so nice out! ..how can I add a few more pics?
  21. thx Roy...how much are they these days? just ran over..lol looks like it is a 2002 20hp merc..heavy too! (112lbs) ouch..... I know she had it winterized and the label says do not operate it until de-winterized..curious what that involves? is the gas/oil ratio 100:1 for these? thx for the info
  22. hi guys just curious how you tell the 'age' of an engine...neighbour has a 20hp merc (black/red...not with the blue stripes)...just looking for a manual for it but not sure what year it is... thanks
  23. just reading the Eagle manual..didnt realize you also need a 12v battery to hook it up....I guess I thought the AA batteries would do it.....so how do you keep the 12v dry? and charged? seems like a bit of a pain to have one of these in the boat as well..does it have to be a 'marine' battery? thanks guys
  24. thanks..will do are the gov't docks east or west of there? wasn't much driving access to the water to the west it seemed?
