  3. I swear off camera there was a few smiles lol
  4. Hello gang Most of you don’t know me as I’m not very active online anymore… but I used to be many years ago I was a cocky bugger and often mistook some sage advise of some of the members in here… puffed my chest… and was very argumentative and dismissive in some cases for some reason for a while now I felt the strong need to say 2 things on here 1 - to all you you cocky live scoping… power poling… satellite imaging…. $100k boat driving… and all the other stuff I don’t even know about… 20 something year olds trying to get a foot in the door of the fishing industry… youtube… guiding… pro staff… sponsored… etc…. the older long standing members on here know their stuff… nearly all the advise i can remember ever getting on here was right or at least came from a good place but it took me too long to realize that. So please really try to understand their advice and be accepting of it. I've lost friends… opportunities… fishing spots… time… all cause i didn't listen 2- to anyone that ever tried to help me… if I didn’t say it… thank you... trying to remember some… Bill M? Terry? Pikeslayer? Spiel? of course Lew…. Mercman… many many more now I'm 38…. Have 2 kids and a respectable job… fishing is for me and making me happy… I hated guiding even though I delivered good results and still get calls 10 years after stopping… it just wasn't for me… sometimes gas money isn't worth as much as a good net man that can keep a secret… fishing trips sometimes aren't about fishing and thats ok… and sometimes you gotta fish for what your buddy likes or some day you wont have any fishing buddies Anyway sometimes you just gotta do or say something and that's all this post is about for me Thanks and tight lines
  5. Hey gang do you guys have any tips or trick to carry a trolling motor battery into back lakes? looking at 1/4-1 mile hike ins I don’t think the little plastic handle is trustworthy enough and looking for 2 man carry found some creative ways to make a rope harness but haven’t tested it yet
  6. Well thanks for the tips and hopefully I have a better overall experience Good to know the trout were that shallow in June… in May they should be really shallow this is my first “remote” trip so more looking for the “overall” experience…. Fishing… remote peace vs my home water on the St.Lawrence with ships going by all day… play cards… hang out with good group of guys… eat good…
  7. I’m heading to this lodge end of May Anyone from the group ever been to Bryson lake Lodge? Looking for some help if you don’t mind sharing what worked for you… structure… depth… baits… or even spots I know spot sharing is frowned upon on public water but it’s a private lodge lake so I figure no harm if you don’t wanna share publicly PMs are welcome Thanks
  8. 🤔 maybe just maybe
  9. I don’t target them much anymore but I finally upgraded to a bigger boat that’ll fit all the musky gear better than my old 16 footer so looking to start getting out for em more regularity
  10. When I ordered my boat in 2022 I got a minn Kota 80lb 60” terrova with ipilot due to COVID shortages I ended up either waiting extra 6+ months for that motor or get i-Pilot link so deal split difference for me to upgrade Looking back I’m happy I was put in that position because the link features are awesome
  11. Fishery is alive and well… lot of articles say it’s in decline but that’s cause scientist net the same spots for 30 years and see declines… just means those 3 spots the fish aren’t using the same anymore… the river has changed a lot but the quality of TROPHY musky fishing is great… I get 4-5 50” musky a year by accident when targeting walleye lol Early summer look for first drop offs or weed lines outside spawning bays Mid-late summer they seam to like the weed edges on the thickest weeds you can find fall if you can find the big schools of “eater walleye” you’ll find musky close by 10-20’ water produces well and hard to beat perch colours and of course black/orange fish high in water column early morning and evening and work a little deeper mid day good luck
  12. Very nice thanks for the info beauty fish
  13. Hey gang Well finally planning one of my bucket list trips and heading to Miramichi NB next spring for striped bass I am towing my boat down and gunna see if we can’t get on em Lots of info out there to filter through and getting a decent grasp on things (I think) I was wondering if any OFCers have made the trip and if so any interesting info or tips to share? From what I gather I’ll drive/troll around until we find a concentration of fish then cast swimbaits and top waters
  14. Bought a striker climate 2 piece suit with floatation (not legal floatation device) love it it’s actually too warm and I remove it he liners from the bibs regularity
  15. I got a 185 competitor tiller picked up last December so far so good absolutely love the rig biggest complaint is radio/speakers never worked right and radio is garbage so eventually I’ll replace it
  16. Hey gang long time no post but I have a short notice strange opportunity and I’m sure someone on here can help It appears that I’ll be in New Brunswick in a few days till Christmas to help out my company is there anyone that knows of any shore fishing opportunities? I see there’s a river right in Moncton just wondering if I should bring a travel combo and some lures… maybe get my first striped bass or something anyways any help would be greatly appreciated
  17. I’m 6’4” and gunnels are about 8-10 inches off the deck so clearance shouldn’t be a big issue
  18. No smallest I have is an 8’ heavy st Croix MH is too light for my liking for musky
  19. This was 15” but didn’t have nearly the girth of that record
  20. Baker makes a heavey wire spreader... that’s what I use and like it most spreaders are not strong enough to open a mouth of a large fish Use the spreader to gain access to the hooks for cutting or removal if you have clearance not to damage gills Another trick... if your fish are inhaling the bait all the time... use bigger baits musky were swallowing reg size bulldogs on me so now I only throw mags or pounders and haven’t hade deep hooking issues
  21. As crazy as this fall has been I’d say I’m only gunna lose 1-2 weeks compared to recent years temps dropped super fast due to early cold and high winds normalley 1-2 weeks into December I’m done in the boat and this year last night (or maybe this evening) will likely be it for me for open water
  22. Hello this summer I had an absolute blast fishing extremely heavy cover for largemouth More specifically I enjoyed flipping/punching heavy mats of floating vegetation the lightest weight i used all year was 3/4oz but I’d say 90% of the time I was using 1.5oz and I’m gunna get some 2oz cause I had situations late summer where I was struggling to punch through with 1.5oz Anyone have experience doing this and if so what rod do you recommend? im currently using a 7’ heavy st Croix avid but I think it’s too small for the heavy weights... I think a 7.5-8’ would do a better job thanks
  23. Hello gang might be able to shoot up Friday to quinte but was wondering if the ferry launch was still ice free I would think it is but want to double check thanks
