FYI Not saying its safe or you should go out on it but!!!! I was up in Port Perry today and saw 3 guys a dog and a portable ice hut out 800 yards off the marina so I took a little venture out 2.5" to 3" of ice where I was but did not punch any holes myself. Safe ice thickness "once solid enough to stand on" is of personal comfort level some 4" is good others 2.5" is good DON'T go unless you are prepared for the worst -Ware a floater suit -Go with a friend -moniter the weather when you are on the ice -bring picks or a rope Have fun Dan

I have two friends who have the same year F150 one with the ecobost V6 on with the 5L the ecobost V6 does everything and more than the V8 its smoother quieter better on fuel more power tows better. I belive he gets close to 1250km to a 120L tank 30mpg. As for comfort thats a matter of personal preference I have been in many full sized trucks and also owned a Dodge Ram and I would say that the Ford is on par with all the full sized trucks comfort wize but alot better fit and finish on the interior Dan -
I have had my daughter out since she was 10 months old she is 6 now and most of my highlight fishing trips have involved her in the last year or so. Great job Mike Dan

I have 2 Okuma clairions with 10 colours of 27lbs sufix leadcore and 280yards of 50lbs sufix performance braid both reels work perfectly and I could probbly fit the extra 20 yards of backing if need be Dan
-
I use my leadcore set ups for multi species use Salmon in the spring and summer and Walleye a few times each spring and lots in the fall I just change the leaders out. I like using a larger real for Leadcore simply for the power that a larger real provides a 45 size real can crank in a 10 colour with little to no effort go any smaller and you must pump the core in and its a reel bugger with a big fish on Dan
-
Its most likly closest to 50 or 60lbs mono a 45 size real hold 10 colours and 280 yards of 50lbs braid backing with a 30' 20lbs floro leader just about perfectly Dan

The KVD hooks from mustad are some of the best I have fished Dan

Comming from a guy who fishes Lake Ontario hard from April through October I have personaly caught 12 Atlantics with 9 comming over the past two years. That is beyond sad seeing we stock 500,000 a year. As a side note we boated just under 300 Kings this year 55 Coho 135 Browns and 167 Steelhead and I'm sure none of these great fish get neer the finacial support that the all mighty Atlantic gets. Dan
-
Used those hooks over the Thanksgiving long weekend and they are by far the best dropshot hook I have fished they work unbelivealbly well and the hooks are razor sharp Dan
-
stay away from the 4.7L all it takes is any bit of overheating and it will warp the heads and kill the engine if you don't catch it in time Dan
-
Most of the Chinho's that have been caught are next impossible to tell with out genetic testing it seems like each year the New York DEC goes through this with a reported world record Coho. BTW nice Coho Dan

for divers we run 4 differnt setups Early spring or after a lake turn over 30lbs mono for targeting fish 20' down "lots of strech not my favorate" 50lbs braid "love this set up but fleas can be an isue" 30lbs 7 strand wire made by AFW great all around 20lbs 7 strand wire made by AFW fantastic for fishing deep but not kind to amatures as for leaders we run 20lbs floro for spoons 30lbs floro for atractors never a snuber we just use rods that are not as stiff as a traditional diver rod never a roller rod just a high quality rigger rod with a twilly tip any other questions just shot me a PM I will do my best to answer them Dan Knockout Lures Prostaff
-
2x strong is about as heavy a hook as you can go without changing the action of the lure Salmon are all about angles when fighting them an experenced salmon angler can keep most salmon under control by changeing angles on them either with the boat or when in close quarters with the rod I have landed 1000's of kings in my life and close to 400 this year alone "over 40 days logged this year" and never had a fish spool me thats even with a 500' section of copper and 450' of 50lbs braid backing its all about pressure knowing your breaking point and angles Dan
-
Coho always get a Kype in thier last year of life cycle if thier male I have caught them in April with Kypes Dan
-
Blue and sliver Purple was good last year black and glow or lazer spooks are always good choices Dan
-
Not that I spend alot of time up there anymore but my parents live on Portage island up there and I fish for salmon a couple times each year. Do I light them on fire? no but I never have any trouble catching 3 or 4 salmon each time out and you can't keep the lakers off the lines. The last couple of years the smelt population has grown leaps and bounds to what it was 5-7 years ago and in result we are catching fish on small spoons Knockout punches have been our best producers and we fish them deep on riggers and divers way out of temperature 40F seems to be best normaly finding fish out off structure but not too far away from it (the structure seems to be loaded with lakers) hope this helps Dan Knockout lures prostaff

The winner of the draft is the team who takes Adam Larson he is a stud
-
depends on what kind of lake your fishing on I know from personal experence Lake Ontario is about 2-3 weeks behind but things can change reel fast with warm stable weather Dan
-
If possible solder all the conections and put some heat shink around the joint rather than using but conectors this will cause less voltage drop and a far better conection Dan
-
Ride a new sled and you will understand the reason for the disign they may not be as fast top end but the handling and bottom end are second to none Dan

Years ago seen an unnamed hut operator out off of Beaverton get his ass handed to him after he compained that guys were fishing too close after that beating I bet he thinks twice about asking someone to move Dan
-
Scotty Strikers are the way to go I've had mine for over 7 years now and taken 100's of Salmon on them and not had a problem Dan
-
I have no problem with the way they celebrated On the other hand chippy play and faking an injury is 100% disrespectful and needs to be taken care of by th IIHF the Russians are trying to turn our beautyful game into a cold game of soccer Dan

Nothing that a little violent track spin wont fix Dan
