  1. Can you boat through that stretch of river north of Kinmount? Or are there obstacles/dams, etc? I have a 14' 9.9 HP and was thinking of giving it a go... Launch in town? Thanks!
  2. I looked at a map. It's called the Gull River flowing through Kinmount on my map... why is that? I'll check again...
  3. is the burnt river also known as gull river?
  4. LOL! Best way to ID animals outside of seeing them! I am always looking out for tracks and crap...
  5. To clarify, the poop was taken several hundred yards away in a totally different location. I did not intend to conclude that the poop came from the animal(s) that made the tracks. They were taken on the same day so I lumped them together... The scat still looks like bear poop to me.. for the poster who said berries should be in the scat, what if berries are not part of the bear's diet in that location? It appeared to be vegetation (grasses?) as I broke it apart with a stick to see what it had eaten.. It was fairly fresh (maybe several hours?) The tracks were found along a sandy trail. This was taken in a county forest near the town of Baxter.. there's a Christmas tree farm about a mile away... Are there lynx in Simcoe County? I heard that there was a cougar(s) sighting recently nearby... by two hikers... they heard more than one animal claimed the animals were "tracking" them

  7. BINGO.. That is what I am wondering.... I know lots of you don't think they exist, but this doesn't look like a dog print and it ain't no kitty cat...
  8. I have more pics... it's just a bit odd if you ask me... does not look like a canine print. These tracks were about 3.75 x 3.75 (roughly)
  9. Is this better? This to me looks more cat-like.... I cannot make out claws.. can you?
  10. Coyote size prints!! Scat is biggish... 5" x 4"ish...
  11. The tracks are NOT bear. I didn't mean to say they are. Poop is bear, but unfortunately the pics of the tracks don't do justice... If you look carefully at the last picture, you might be able to make out what I am saying... more cat like... probably just my mind playing tricks on me! Bears are apparently in that area... wolf not so sure... probably just yotes
  12. 12 km east of Barrie.. a little north of Aliston.. I am pretty sure it's bear... just wanted confirmation... 5 inches by 4 for the bear poop.. the tracks are puzzling... no toe claws (i.e. retracted like a cat)
  13. Scroll down to see track!!
  14. Enjoy...
  15. Such an amazing fishery... we take it for granted...
  16. Agreed... In B.C. staging and river-run chinooks have all the respect in the world.. We are lucky to have them here in Ontario Nice catch, by the way.. upper 20s?
  17. Thanks for all the tips, guys... the only lure I rarely use on the list is spinnerbait.. Never caught much on them.. maybe needs more of a chance! I did once catch a walleye, of all things, on a spinner on Pigeon Lake. I think the smallies like the smaller spinners, no? Thanks again.. Hope to post good results!!
  18. It is a real hard knot.. stead hands and patience... hard to due if it's raw and bumpy while out on the water... Power Pro has it on there site...
  19. Forgot to ask - are wire leaders necessary due to the pike? I hate using them... and if we jig you cant anyway.. Anyway around pike teeth up there?
  20. thanks for the input, fellas... might try minnows too
  21. Hey folks: Heading up on Thursday to the Gowganda area (Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge). Seems like it's going to rain a fair bit.. Temps have cooled too... Fall is here! What would be your go-to baits/lures given these temps/conditions up there? We will target SM bass, walleye and pike. I am thinking tube jigs, regular jigs, and Rapalas (diving or surface) in various colours.. Probably try some spinners too... Thoughts? Any particular success in those lakes with a favourite lure? Thanks!
  22. Apparently new ownership since 2011.. hope its still good.. The boats supposdly have motors and gas awaiting you... Looking forward to pass on a report thanks lew
  23. For an overnight close to T.O. I'd say Honey Harbour/Port Severn Region For the best pike fishing (PERIOD) Toronto Islands!! I've seen more trophy pike there than anywhere else in Ontario! Rent a room downtown!
  24. Great post.. thanks.. I saw some of that info on each lake on their site. I am assuming you've fished this lodge? Given that we only have a few days, which of the other lakes (other than Lost) would you target for quality? We rather getting into fish rather than search for lunkers.. Walleye would be good, but not necessarily the only species we'd target.. I am assuming that the smaller lakes would be accessed day time only and save the eve. walleye fishing to main lake Thanks again..
