  1. Hey folks, For you salmon trollers out there, what type of line do you use as back when using a dipsy and how many yards and pound test?
  2. Lots of natural reproduction.. tons more than people realize
  3. Thanks BL, great info... maybe we'll try both!
  4. Thanks Dave. . . wow the 50's eh? must have been good fishing back then I was hoping some smallies would also co-operate in addition to the muskie and walleye... kids are happy with action - so am i quite frankly I will let you know how we make out... might go by myself first... have to see what the next week or so brings
  5. Nope! Worm and bobber for the past 30+ years... catches everything!
  6. HEY folks, I have not been up to the Kawarthas yet this year. Wanna try some new lakes as I am bringing some guests (3 kids under 10 and my cousin). I've heard Cameron is a decent, fishable lake due to its size. We dont wan trophy stuff... just a good mix of panfish for the kids and some gamefish for the adults. What about Balsam. I heard that there are some good spots around the Park. Any general areas to zero in on? Thanks!
  7. Even if plenty are kept, it's a healthy fishery.. beleive me the catch rates don't impact the fishery.. rather, its the ability of the alewife to stay helthy and strong that determine how many big ones we get each yer.
  8. No pictures yet.. there was another near 40lb caught today! 39.9 what a year it's been so far!!!
  9. He's right, you shouldn't eat lke trout out of lake O - salmon and rainbows are ok in moderation
  10. Well, almost - 39.9lb today off the Scarborough Bluffs This is like the 1980's all over again Gotta be the best salmon fishery in the world
  11. As in don't get to excited or get your hopes up too high... It's an English idiom.
  12. I don't mean to burst you bubble, but the problem with salmon fishing (more than any other type of fishing) is that it can completely change in a matter of hours, let alone days.. they are nomadic creatures and unpredictable. Unlike a walleye or musky, or bass, where you can be pretty certain they're gonna be within a general area (feeding on a shoal in the eve, dropping back to nearby deeper water at mid-day, etc...) salmon might be off the shores of toronto Islands at this moment and in 12 hours they might be frolicking off the shores of Rochester My advice is, don't get your hopes up too high and if you catch something that day, great... but the dedicated salmon guys have plenty of fruitless days, even in a "good year".. those guys who post pictures of big fat salmon go out regularly
  13. King City? you sure about that? It's not on their range map - maybe they're seeing salamanders
  14. Congrats... The world's best salmon fishery, without question...
  15. Is it that good??? I've heard of this stuff but seems a bit gimicky
  16. i've seen (and heard) lots of them.. very common mot often, I come across expired ones...
  17. there have been unconfirmed reports of fish exceeding 50 but the anglers didn't have scales and released the fish... i saw a pcture of one of these fish once and it was huge but.... take that for what it's worth!
  18. there's a 50 out there
  19. 47 but a 48 or 49 was caught in ny
  20. I'm gonna catch the 50 lb
  21. Biggest fish from that derby in years.. been a great year http://www.greatontariosalmonderby.ca/updates/
  22. Reminds me of the billions of lizards I see when I visit family back in the old country (Italy). They are so common there. Like seeing flies here... people treat them like pest there because they can get into homes.
  23. Lake O - still the best salmon fishery in the world.... BTW, a few in the 34-36 lb range have already been caught... so as nice as your fish is, it wouldn't be close to a derby winner great catch though!
  24. Sorry, but why not? It wasn't in use... just sat for 24 hours in the garage... It's been topped with fresh syththetic.. new seals.. sould be fine.. Like I said, the drain seal was shot... that's probabaly where h2o came in from
  25. Actually they don't.. Toronto is still one of the safest cities in the world... between 50-70 homicides annually.. that is very low for a big city And, as a matter of fact, Toronto is ranked 29th in crime in Canada.. so there are 28 cities with higher crimes rates (based on percentage of crimes per inhabitants).. this includes murder, attempted murder, aggrevated assaults, sexual assaults, break n enter, etc... in fact the crime rate in toronto ha been declining steadily since the late 80's. I have done a lot of research in this area, so I know my crap.. Look it up if you don't believe me It's the media that needs to sell news that hypes this stuff.. plus it's a big city - stuff happens
