  1. Hey, just curious if any fellow anglers have ever tried a smaller version of the senko style baits for Brookies? I hear surveys that have been done and revealed that trout do seem to readily eat these baits, so just figured that maybe a smaller version, like say 3" or so would be an effective bait?
  2. Thanks for the tips!......Yah, as mentioned by other anglers, this problem seems to be pretty much secluded to Husky Jerks, as this never seems to happen with the X-Rap, and also the leader which I was using was a very thin one, but had a pretty good sized barrel swivel up front which may very likely would've contributed to the hog-tie issue! True the Husky Jerk isn't the best caster by today's standards, but I think they are more versatile in the fact that they are also a good trolling bait as well......wish they still made them in the old OCW color pattern!
  3. Well, every avid angler knows the effectiveness of the Husky Jerk, but I seem to have a very annoying problem when fishing them with leaders.... every other cast the leader gets tangled on the front treble....GRRRR! Any other anglers experience this, and what did they do to remedy this problem?
  4. All this ever increasing cold weather has inevitabaly got me and a lot of my fellow anglers thinking about the fast approaching hardwater season, and, (speaking for myself) LAKERS! I would have to say my personal favorite for hardwater season Lakers is first, the tube jig,in either white or chartreuse, and sometimes just as deadly, the ABU KOSTER (if you have them). However, sometimes if the bite slows down, usually mid February or so, I'll drop the presentation size down to a 1/4oz Buckshot Rattle Spoon, tipped with just a tiny piece of minnow.
  5. Pretty sweet looking!......Although, I think that when rapala came out with the x-rap, they really out-did themselves!
  6. Was watching that extreme angler show the other day, and the guy was using one of those Ardent Fishouflage reels, of course it seemed pretty nice, and was manufactured in North America which is extremely rare for a reel these days. But, during a bit of research I did, I found the reviews to be very sporadic, One guy thought it was awesome, the other a pile of junk? Anyways, part of me thinks that supporting North American manufactured goods is great,(ie;St. Croix, and Loomis), while the other wants to stick with something more familiar like the higher end reels such as shimano and what have you that are of course made in china, malaysia etc. etc. Any fellow angler have any personal experience to share regarding this product?
  7. 30lb min kota endura prob the best bang for your buck...
  8. On a recent outing, which included some nasty elements, such as rain and wind,(yeup....rain in January!), my partner brought along his portable ice-shelter which pretty much saved the day. That being said, I've decided to make it a priority to purchase one of these shelters, but have noticed that the market is flooded with options when it comes to these.....Id be looking for something that when folded down would fit into a med otter sleigh.... Any suggestions?
  9. Berkely Fireline Micro ice for me....Braid seems to retain the water a bit more, also would like to try that nano-fil too as well tho!
  10. Natural resources = the next super power = CANADA
  11. Well written, would've taken me a month to come up with that!
  12. For lakers you just fish higher in the water column?
  13. Caught, snagged, or foul hooked???......Just joking!
  14. Without the hooks, wouldn't they basically be a normal Williams Whitefish, turned upside down,an excellent lure nonetheless!
  15. Yeup!......Looks like its been jacked!
  16. Probably be a good spoon for Lakers, as good as any other williams lure..
  17. Sounds like a good offer, too bad I'm not closer......Good Luck!
  18. Mabe I'll have to manage slack line better on the drop, afterall Williams knows what they're doing when designing a bait right?
  19. yup, and just bareley jig it. That one there in my profile is a Nipigon strain....Speckies on steroids, no need for to much finessing there!
  20. Do these hooks really serve their purpose?......Seem to have a lot of "hog-ties" with this bait, wondering if other members find the same?
  21. Don't forget some micro jigs and some waxworms to tip 'em with......saved the day several times for me when they wouldn't "pickup" anything bigger!
  22. Ah, precisely......but every so often you hit the one that's a real winner!
  23. Seem to be alot of varients of this type of bait on the market now, I think that 'Lil' foxee one with the feather hackle looks pretty sweet!
