When was it we all became "guys" NF, pet peeve
Big Cliff replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
Well, we agree on one thing, we seem to have the same level of respect (or lack thereof) for our Prime Minister! What I feel though is that everyone deserves to be treated with respect until they prove otherwise! -

Same here, it was always meant as a show of respect for me. I'd hate to think I was insulting all those women all these years -

The Cub respects the Old Wolf, The Cub respects himself/herself. -
Glad to hear you finally got to use it Brian. I hope you'll get a few more days out of it before ice out.

Growing old is a requirement, growing up is optional! No matter how old I get I refuse to grow up! -

There are far more important things in life to get upset about LOL. I was brought up that I was to call anyone older than I or in a position of authority sir or mam if you didn't know their family name and Mr. Miss/Mrs. and the family name if you did. I still do it to this day unless that person has introduced themselves by their first name in which case I assume that they want me to use it. As for a younger person calling us "guys", doesn't bother us in the least! -
I have no doubt my friend, just thought I might have missed it.

Brian, I haven't seen any pictures of that Sub Zero yet this winter? Have you been using it?

Only problem with driving without a license is that your insurance isn't going to be valid and I believe that the fine is something like $5000.00 for driving without insurance. (please correct me if I am wrong) You don't even have to be at fault, some drunk driver could hit you and you could still be charged. Someone hits you in a parking lot, no fault insurance kicks in..... you loose. I know lots of people do it but they are usually the ones that don't have anything to loose anyway. Sue is all worried now because she has to have an ICD implanted and she was told that the Dr. could have her license pulled. Living 11 km out of town it would make it very difficult for us if that does happen because when I am working she would be house bound and inspite of her health problems she is still socially quite active and enjoys spending time with her girlfriends during the day. If it happens, we will have to deal with it; if and when!

Just the words have so much meaning too! It is just one of those songs that has a wonderful meaning and the way it is presented fits the words perfectly right down to the smiles as they are singing it. I think I've listened to it about 10 times already! -
Well, don't know if this will help but I had a 1980 55hp oil injected. Sold it about 5 years ago now when I bought my new boat and motor and it was still running like a top!

Do as I say, not as I do!

Ya but how many people just pay them because they can't take the time off work to fight it? Odds are in the cops favor I'm afraid. Parnelly; glad it worked out for you!

What Are Some Tips On Internet Buying? (N. F.)
Big Cliff replied to Photoz's topic in General Discussion
Steve, I have bought quite a few items on line and as of today never had any problems! I did have my Mastercard compromised though (not through an online purchase) CC company too care of everything, immediatly issued a credit for all the transactions and issued me a new card no problem. As for needing a new Fax/Phone, why not just go to Staples and buy a new printer/scanner/copier, you can get one for under $100.00 that will do all of it and you can scan things, save them as a PDF and email them or you can fax them and you'll have an up to date printer too. -
Can't go South anymore so we are thinking of going West
Big Cliff replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Wow, some great responses, thank you all so much! Glen, we love Florida and Myrtle Beach but to take a chance and go without insurance would be gambeling our entire future. My sister was in hospital in Las Vegas for three days, the bill was over $45,000.00. Thankfully she had insurance. I have heard too many stories of what it can cost in the US without insurance, we wouldn't take the chance. In trying to find someplace warmer for us to get away from winter but still stay in Canada the Victoria area seems like the warmest alternitive. Highs for today: Victoria +10 Myrtle Beach +5 Lindsay - 10 Mr Blizzard & Mike, I will deffinatly take you up on your offers once I have more specific questions to ask, thank you so much for the offers! Can't think of a much better way to spend a cold winter day than planning on how to spend it in a warmer environment -
Man this is an interesting thread! First of all (and this is from experience): Snapping turtles are EXCELLENT eating! As Dave524 stated, there are 7 different kinds of meat in one. My son has cooked them up on more than one occasion and it is excellent! While they do have very powerful jaws, it is clamping strength, not cutting strength! For those of you that have had one chomp down on a stick, have you ever seen one bite through it? Not likely, they will chomp down on it and hold on but they don't cut through it. Mind you, it would HURT your finger! I have handled them on MANY occasions, I just pick them up by the shell, one hand on each side between the front and back legs, I have never been bitten by one (lots have tried but they just can't get their head that far around), the legs are a different story, they will try to kick your hand off and the claws can be a little sharp but nothing serious. If you haven't tried it don't knock it, a lot of people haven't tried frogs legs, muscrat, beaver, racoon.... They are all good eating (well I wasn't crazy about the racoon but if I was hunger!!!!!)

Can't go South anymore so we are thinking of going West
Big Cliff replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
A little further North than what I was looking for and a little more remote but you are right it does look beautiful! Could you ask some of them about the cost to rent an apartment or condo and what about fishing opportunities. Any help would be much appreciated! It sure looks like it would fit the bill, cost is going to be a factor, some of the condos I have seen so far were up to $4000.00 a month. I wouldn't pay that for a condo on Clear Water Beach! Kelowna is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in Canada but I am looking to get as warm as I can in Jan. to March LOL. -
Well, due to Sue's health issues and the fact that because of them we can't get reasonable health insurance for her; (best quote we could get was $1000.00/day and there were a lot of exclusions) we are thinking that we might go West. We checked with OHIP and she would be covered for up to 212 days anywhere in Canada so we started looking at B.C. for next winter. We need a place that has good medical facilities, isn't too remote, but we want to be on or very near to the water. I would like a place where I can go pier or shore fishing (really don't care what I catch), and it would be nice if there was some place I could go and dig clams and things like that that wasn't too far away. I love living off the land where ever I can. I have strated trying to research places, Victoria area seems to be looking somewhat interesting, it is considered one of the warmer areas of BC.. I'd like to rent an apartment or a small house or condo probably for Jan. Feb. Mar.. This is in the early research stage, we are looking at next winter but with the vast wealth of knowledge and experience available on this board starting anywhere else would seem foolish. Any and all input would be much appreciated. Big Cliff (or just BC) LOL.

Granted there are success stories, those don't tend to stand out. Unfortunatly there are failures too, they tend to stand out because the results are all too often tragic.

According to my lawyer all that is necessary is for one of the persons being recorded to be aware of it. Had a former employee try to pull a number on me one time and recorded a conversation we were having without my being aware of it. Naturally he tried to set it up and get me to say things in favor of his cause. Unfortunatly for him it backfired because he tried to submit a typed transcript of the conversation and my lawyer insisted that the original taped conversation be submitted. It was quite different from the typed transcript that had been submitted, the judge Listened to about the first two minutes of the tape and threw the case out. So it is my experience, you can tape any conversation you want as long as you are aware it is being taped you are good to go.

No sane person chops another person's head off in public or private! Therefore IMHO he was insane. Obviously there is no cure only control, my question now is if the medication keeps him under control who is going to insure that he keeps taking the medication?

First, you never stop being a parent, you are stuck with that for life. When do you impose your will? When it is apparent that what they are doing could cause harm to them or someone else. I would allow her to give her speach on the condition that she is willing to make sure she has all the facts. Sit down with her and explain how hunting controls populations so that populations don't exceed the available foodin a given area. Or how over populations can breed disease which could wipe out the entire population of a species and anything that relies on that particular animal for it's sustenance. Explain how hunters today go out of their way to insure that game is killed quickly and humanily and that the money they do spend for licenses goes to enhansing the survival of many species. Well, you know the drill, you might not change her mind but you can leave her with something to think about. Most important just be proud that she is willing to take a stand for something she believes in. Edited: "missed the trophey hunting post LOL"

Who is going to insure he takes his medication? Will any of the Dr.s that say he should be ok or members of their families be riding on the bus with him?
