Well, it took a while to get everything organized and worked out but thanks to Roy, Marc, and Luc from Princecraft for all their help and input, we will be getting our new boat next Friday afternoon. We got a fantastic deal; a Holiday DLX WS, with a 60 hp Merc, wireless bow mount trolling motor, upgraded fish finder, bumpers, dock lines, anchor, boat safety kit, 2 auto inflatable life jackets, a full tank of gas, 2 batteries, registration, numbers on the boat, and including PDI, delivered to our door and in the water for $17500.00 + tax. (and to think, I wasn't even looking at Princecraft to start with.) I can't thank you all enough for all your help and input because without all of you I'd probably still being trying to figure out what to get! I am lucky enough to have some very wonderful friends but two special people; Beans and Jack, would you do me the honor of being my first "fishing partners" in the boat next Sunday? (sorry Friday evening and Saturday are Sue's LOL). it would be an honor to share the experience with you.

Not to worry, I'll be delivering it to Albert tomorrow.

A little like rattle snake but without all the noise. Really good smoked or after you have smoked LOL (not that I would know from experience!!!!!)
-
Saw my Dr. last week, asked her how long she thought I might have. She said "do you smoke? I said No Do you drink? I said once in a while Do you play golf? No! Do you gamble? Not really What about sex? Well, when I get the opportunity! She looked at me long and hard and said: "why the heck would you want to prolong it for?" (she never asked about the really important things: fishing, food, good friends. Dumb Dr.!)

Could you show me on a Map of Canada where any of the following are: Vimy Ridge Ypres Passchendaele Somme Dieppe Hong Kong Normandy Oh wait, here is one: The Battle of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, which saw German U-boats penetrate the Cabot Strait and the Strait of Belle Isle to sink 23 ships between 1942 and 1944, marked the only time since the War of 1812 that enemy warships inflicted death within Canada's territorial waters. Canadians have being giving their lives overseas to keep Canada safe and free and to support others. Would you prefer that we wait until our children are being blown up by road side IEDs as they play before we act? Believe me it could happen!

I chose to spend 3 years in the army and I don't regret a minute of it, if in fact if I could go back, I would probably stay in. I was very proud of who I was and what I was doing. I started out heading down a rough road when I was younger but it didn't take long to realize that life wasn't just all about me. My attitude changed quite quickly, I served on many honor guards, compeated in many small arms compitions, learned how to jump from a plane, survive in some rough conditions, and most of all, how to be part of a team. I was very good at what I did because I loved doing it and there was never a prouder moment than when I stood on guard for my country and family. I was only 18, feared nothing and believed in death before dishonor. When I was 21, I believed that the best way to serve my country and my family was to continue my education so I left the army to go back to school full time. In hindsite I should have stayed in the army and continued my education but I made a choice. I am still very proud of the little contribution I was able to make, of the people I served with, of those that serve today and of our country. For those that don't believe in it or choose to crticize those that do! Just remember that those who have served and do serve today are the reason you have the right and freedom to speak your mind. Oh Canada, I stand on guard for thee (and will until the day I die)!

Dara, I am courious, Where did you come up with that #? Are you a dealer or something? Cliff

Well, I have listened long and hard, researched as much as I can and I am pleased to say we now have a quote on that package with the 60 on it. Got a few loose ends to tie up yet (fish finder GPS) and some safety equipment but with all your help and input I think/hope we'll have a new boat very soon.

The gang stopped by here on Saturday morning to pick up a trimmer on their way over to your place, it was nice to see them all again. Glad to hear that the dock work got finished. Good crew you had there!
-
Boy, Sounds like Albert had quite a weekend because after he left 2rs he dropped by here to pick up his trimmer (which I had gotten the wrong part for so it is still here). And his lawn mower (which I haden't even fixed at that point). Gave us a hand and some pointers on the shore line deck we were building, helped carrying sod, and spent quite a bit of time helping me to get our irrigation system pump up and working. At least I managed to get his lawnmower fixed and gave him some kids rods to deliver. Thanks again Albert and I'll have that trimmer fixed by the weekend.

Now that is the best advice that anyone could ever give you!

I took Sue fishing twice, she outfished me both times; I never took her fishing again!!!!!! Solved that problem! As for your situation..... I think there are deeper waters involved.
-
Thanks Marc, you know the kind of fishing I want to do, do you think this package with the 50 on it will do it for me or do you think I need a kicker too?
-
Well to be honest with you Roy, part of the reason I am even looking for a new boat is because of how impressed I was with Marc's setup. Here is one that Sue and I are considering. Our boat? I am thinking that this boat with a 50 on it? I don't need a trailer (other than getting it into the Trent Severen waterway) or towing cover as it would be stored inside on my marine railway when not in use. I really don't need a top for it as Sue and I wouldn't be going out in it in bad weather anyway. Thoughts, comments, ideas?

After getting a lot of excellent feedback I would definatly now also consider a Princecraft. I would like to try to buy locally and the more Sue and I look, the more we think that buying new is the way we will go. It'll probably be the last boat and motor package we ever buy so we might as well get EXACTLY what we want. I'll be checking out Princecraft boats in the next few days. Sent Fish Farmer a PM Will try to get over to that show Anymore thoughts or suggestions are always appreciated. Cliff

That is quite the ride you got there Beans LOL. Carp are swimming around my dock like crazy right now but I haven't even tossed a line out for them yet.

OK, I am looking for a new boat and a little overwhelmed at all the choices that are out there: Here are some of my criteria, all help and suggestions would be much appreciated. 1999 - 2009 ( am some what flexable on price but don't want to blow the budget I only get out about 15 to 20 times a year and when fishing usually only go a mile or two from the house) 15-17' suitable for fishing or just taking the wife for a ride V or modified V hull welded aluminum hull must have full windshild 75% of maximum rated horse power outboard kicker motor carpeted floor good quality fish finder and GPS (not necessarly combined) I'd prefer to get a brand of motors that I can get serviced locally so mercury, honda, yamaha... I don't need a trailer So, any or all suggestions or help would be much appreciated!

I have several "kids rods" here every thing from Barbie rods and up. Are these younger kids rods any good to you? If so, I will gladly give them to Albert this weekend and he can get them to you. I'm sure he wouldn't mind!
-
It has been almost 40 years since my first was born and I still remember every detail, I'm sure you will too 40 years from now! Congratulations to you all!
