  1. This is a sweet deal!!!!! I will have the new camp added to the website as soon as I get the details. *Edit* The site has been updated to include the new camp.
  2. In first place so far with no cheating going on this month. Keep the votes coming.
  3. I hop on a plane in 105 days. Then I get to see my new outboard.
  4. You should be able to get it at Lowes, HD etc. Get 3/4". You can make it super simple by hammering the ends flat and drilling holes through to accept carabiner clips. Mount 2 eye bolts on your boggan 15 to 18 inches appart. Clip a pipe to each eye bolt with a crarbiner and then clip the free ends together with another carabiner. You can then use one more carabiner to attach to your sled. For about $20 you can be set up.
  5. Bill I just used elictrical conduit for mine.
  6. Well after 3 weeks of frigid temps I finally got back out to the lake we slayed all of thoses pike on back on January 9th. We started off where we hammered them last time and managed 2 hammer handles in an hour and a half, so we left for greener pastures. We managed a grand total of 0 fish there in about 1/2 hour of fishing. We tried 2 more spots before finally finding the fish at spot number 5. We started hitting fish right away but again they were small, like this fellow and smaller. Soon the big gals started showing up and saved the day. I had a couple of baits stolen off set lines and had one fish break off on a tipup. The biggest fish we got on a set line today was about 6 or 7 pounds. The bigguns all came jigging airplane jigs tipped with 1/2 a cisco. Tomorrow it's off to find a few troots.
  7. Currently -7 here with 8kmh winds. Not too cold at all Albert. Warmer than your -6 with 26kmh winds.
  8. Wow!!! YK has been busy with celebs this week!!! Last weekend Rick Mercer was here filming with the Ice Pilots crew, then yesterday Mike Holmes was here speaking and helping present awards and lastly at tomorrows Memorial Classic hokey game between the RCMP & YKFD Gordie & Marty Howe will be there.
  9. Paul I quit cold turkey 12 years ago and what helped me through it was sucking on an extra strength Fishermans Friend every time I needed a smoke. It helped, don't know why but it did. Haven't had or wanted a smoke since. In fact I can't handle being in a closed room with someone smoking now. Watch what you eat though. I gained over 100#'s by not watching my food intake. I have dropped 66 of thos pounds so far over the last year but it sure was easier putting them on than taking them off.
  10. Nope, just 98.435% and only during the month of September!!!
  11. Then this job might just be for you. You need experience though. A Fishey Job
  12. When I was living out in the country near Luther Marsh our neighbour would come and do our driveway after a big storm. Two passes and our 220 foot driveway would be clear. Gotta like the old John Dear tracter with the 8' double auger bolwer mounted on the back. When my dad had his heart attack in the middle of winter a few years ago and the ambulance couldn't get up the driveway the neighbours were there in a pinch to blow the driveway.
  13. Then their wives place clear plastic over their driveways so they don't get dirty again.
  14. Yep, that's the way they fish them. Sockeye are plankton feeders and don't hit baits. They can be caught on beads though, but only when they are long past their prime in the rivers. The other 4 pacific salmon however are willing biters.
  15. We did have an independant but it is very hard to support them when they are gouging. I did spend a lot of my hard earned $$$ with them though. They were 100% more expensive than comparable stores south of here. I'm sorry but there's no way I'm spending $1100 for an ice auger just to support the little guy!!!! Especially when I can get one for under $400 elsewhere. I did buy maps, bait and some tackle there though. For some reason they went out of business. Just sayin'
  16. Mine is a luxury touring sled, not one of them racing dealies but when I can get it to hook up it tries to separate my arms from the rest of my body. It's more streamlined than the performance jobs which I like as well. Plus I can rip along at 110 with me, my buddy and frabil flip over across the lake. Gotta watch out for bumps though.
  17. You bet!!! Gas milage is awsome on the 4 strokes, although they are quite a bit heavier. I have a 2008 Yamaha RS Venture GT that has a 1000cc 120hp 4 stroke and get 160kms per tank pulling 2 loaded boggans while the 2 strokes get 1/2 of that. The looks of the GT are nice as well. When I bought the sled I steered away from the regular RS Venture because it looked like an angry wasp.
  18. How about this thing? You get to pay 15 grand for 1/2 a sled!!! Polaris 800-RUSH-PRO-R
  19. Canadian Tire Our Walmart has little to no fishing tacke.
  20. One last kick at the can. Hopefully no one cheats this month. http://www.wfn.tv/mafv/view.php?entry=208 Thanks OFNers for all your support.
