  1. I also have a butt seat with taller pedestal and a regular seat with shorter pedestal that I can use in the front of my boat. I use the regular boat seat exclusively. In the 21 years I have owned the boat I only used the butt seat once. Standing/leaning all day is way too hard on my back and knees. If'n I was fishing tourneys it would be a differnt story.

  2. Saw a boat go up in flames last year on Simcoe.. I guess they forgot to vent before starting... Whoops!

Years ago I saw a boat go up in flames at the gas dock in Honey Harbour.

They didn't turn off all power before fueling up and the fumes ignighted.

I repaired it fer ya. ;)

  5. The biggest thing hunting does is teach the bears to be wary of humans.

Since they have not been pursued with the same intensity since the spring bear hunt ended they have grown bolder and lost their fear of humans. This coupled with the increase in population is causing the issue.

The spring bear hunt was not cancelled because the bear population was crashing (it was stable) it was cancelled by antis blackmailing Southern & Southwestern Ontario politicians during an election year.

These antis told the politicians in power that their votes would go to the opposition unless the hunt was cancelled.

I'm not a bear hunter but I won't hesitate to shoot one that is acting agressively.

My firearm comes camping with me just in case. ;)

  6. If you havent noticed by now, I down play bear sightings. I've been living and camping in bear infested woods for over 40 years. I've been face to face with them from 5 feet away. Sure, some common sense and caution is needed, but I've never been afraid of them. In fact I enjoy and look forward to my encounters with them. They are a nusience at best, but nothing that should strike the fear of God into you. I often camp in areas where there is bear scat and tracks all over the road on the drive in. Not to mention the physical sightings. A couple of years ago I saw 7 bears on my drive in, within a half mile of where I was tenting. Didn't phase me at all. Like any other wildlife, I'm just happy to see them and enjoy nature.

I alos do a lot of camping in bear country and while I'm not scared of them I have a healthy respect for them. Twice I have had large grizzlies sniffing at my tent in the middle of the night. :w00t:

I don't care who you are but that will unnerve anyone.

Last year my friend was tenting in the site beside me and he had one pushing in on the side of his tent in the middle of the night. He hauled off and punched it in the nose as hard as he could!! It went away an beat up on my other friends trailers because it was all ticked off. LOL

  7. I like the way you think!!! LOL

Ya, there's a tripod thingy that can go inside the rear seat mount, but apparently those are for skiing, and would either snap or rip the deck apart if you try to pull a tube behind it. I guess that's why most people opt with the tie downs instead. I'll make sure to get a rope that WELL above the recommended strength.

I'm more worried about it getting caught in the prop... not sure which setup to go with.

Make sure you get a floating tow rope and then there will be no need to worry about the prop. ;)

  8. If a $1000 is a bit high then a zodiac may not be your best bet. They aren't cheap. Specailly new, you can find them on kijiji for under a grand but for the most part they have been patched alot and I wouldn't really want to take a chance at that money.

Or you could stumble on a high quality inflatable for stupid low $$$ like I did.

My inflatable in the first pic is an older Southern Pacific inflatable (same kind of quality as a Zodiac). To purchase a new one (same model as mine but with aluminum floor instead of wood) is about $1500 US. I found mine at a garage sale for.......................wait for it.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................TEN BUCKS!!!!!!

I has a small leak in the floor but the air chambers are solid and there are zero patches on it!!!

The motor was extra of course and I had to purchae oars for it.

Including the motor I have less than $900 in the rig.

There are deals to be had if you are in the right place at the right time. ;)

  9. This is a very informative thread....apparently:

If you own a bass boat... you're an :asshat: (and deserve to lose your lower unit)

If you fish for bass..... you're an :asshat:

If you drive fast........ you're an :asshat:

I guess I'm just an all around :asshat: then! :rofl2:

    :thumbsup_anim:

I'm with ya on that one!

1/ Yes, if you go ripping past canoers and smaller boats without concern for their safety.

2/ Nah, if you like fishing for panfish that's fine. I have no problem with that.

3/ No problem here either as long as long as it's done safely (see response 1)

4/ If you say so.

  10. Canadain Tire does not sell battery chargers for real deep cycle batteries.

You can find battery chargers for deep cycle batteries at Walmart. They are made by a company called Schumacher.

The onboard charger I posted above that is sold at Canadian Tire is made by Schumacher and sold with the Nautilus brand name on it.

This Schumacher charger is also This Canadian Tire charger. And yes it does charge seep cycle, AGM and regular lead acid batteries. B)

  11. Get your self a two bank onboard charger and when you get home from fishing, plug the boat in and forget about it. That really is the best and easiest way.

I run one of These on my boat for my 2 deep cycles for the TM and also my starting battery. I leave it plugged in year round when I'm not out in the boat. People say you don't need one for the starting battery but this way it stays topped up and when fully charged is ignored by the charger. I leave my batteries in the boat all winter and with them being plugged into the charger they never discharge and freeze. It gets pretty cool up here too.

  12. Amp/hours has nothing to do with the output of batter power other than the lenght of time it can output that power. I don't know if that makes sense to you or not.

The battery is 12 volts correct? The trolling motor is 12 volts as well? Amperage is the amount of current drawn fron the battery by the trolling motor and is determined by the load on the trolling motor (speed and whether you're running it through weeds).

The higher the amp/hour rating the longer the battery will last before needing to be recharged.

It sounds to me like it was just coincidence. Get yourself a shiny new TM and have at 'er!!!
