  1. I'm a big sports guy and because of that own a Panasonic Plasma.

When purchasing my set a couple of years ago I found that even the most expensive LCD units suffered from motion blur when watching fast moving sports like hockey and racing. If you're not a sports guy go for an LCD as they use less power and are lighter in weight.

    Also go big!!!!

My living room is 15'X15' and I have a 50". It's a good size for the room, but the first day I had it I thought that I went too big. It only took a day for me to realize that I didn't. :)

Although I now think a 60" would be nice. :whistling:

  2. I don't worry about a breaker on my transom mounted TM that I use on my inflatables. If it were on my big boat (where the batteries are in a compartment) I would.

The battery is going to be sitting right beside you and there really shouldn't be an issue.

If you really want to put one in and save money just buy yourself one of these from Napa as they are under $10.

  3. It's fresh and fun now but after a while the fun wears off. ;)

We had 4+ acres of grass to cut at our last place in Ontario.

After a few years cutting the grass just plain SUCKED!!!!

Ended up spending almost every non-snowbound weekend cutting grass.

It was a 16+ hour job with the tractor to cut our lawn.

Now I have no grass at all.

  4. thanks for the help, bad relay it was

had a heck of a time trying to follow the wiring from the pump, tried googling and youtube, "they're here and there, behind a cover you need to unscrew, behind the starter, etc, etc"....and then I just stepped back and actually looked at my outboard...and voila, there they were!! way to make some extremely more difficult than it should be

in case anybody else goes through this with an omc o/b, here's where they were on my '97 90, I highlighted them in red

now I just need to order a new relay on tuesday, anybody recommend an online place with fast shipping?

    Nice!!!!

They look like SPDT 30AMP 12V relays to me.

Just take it in to NAPA and they should be able to fix you up.

You're lucky, the relay pack for my buddies Yamaha is proprietary and cost $300!!!!!

You should get out for under $10. :thumbsup_anim:

You should be able to find them at car audio shops and places like Future Shop and Best Buy as well.

  5. Dig out a volt meter and check your voltages on the power trim relay pack.

Follow the power trim wiring back from the trim unit into the motors cowling.

The unit they connect to is the relay pack.

There are two relays inside the pack and it sounds like one is not energizing.

Check the wiring for tightness and corrosion and also check the jumpers on the relay for corrosion. I just replaced the pack on my buddies boat because of a corrosion issue.

You can test the power trim motor by connecting the 2 wires directly to a battery.

one way you will get up and the other down.

  6. I took the boat to Rocky's this morning and it appears to be something with my foot pedal. He swapped mine out for one of his and it worked fine. Then I put mine back on and it worked. It totally baffled both of us as other than swapping foot pedals, nothing else was touched. So he took apart the bottom end anyway to have a look and it was in perfect condition. Not sure what is going on but there it must be a pedal issue. Maybe one of the female receptors on the plug was misaligned and by putting his pedal into it, it realigned itself. Who knows. I am almost tempted to get a new pedal just in case but they are about $140.

I find that I have to step on my pedal pretty hard now to make it work. It has been like that for about 3 weeks now when I fished all day in the rain. Somehow the water must cause issues so as Drifter suggested, I am trying harder to store it out of the elements when not using it.

    PS.

    Thanks for all the help.

    Service at Rocky's was great.

    Lebarons has them for $100.

    Even cheaper on Ebay.

  7. I had a powerdrive and went through 3 foot pedals. It's a common problem. I agree go to Rocky's and he'll fix ya up.

I was on my second pedal on my last Minn Kota as well.

They do pack it in quite often.

They hold up a lot better if you store them out of the weather when not in use.

  8. Thanks Dave,The ford support for the service 1 system today told me to cut the red and the red with blue wire out of the controller and splice them together to override the starter issue. What do you think Dave. Found the programming switch thanks to you.Let me know what your take on this is .Thanks.

What about unplugging the power supply to the unit?,would this work?.

Without knowing what unit it is I can't really say.

    Do you see the module?

If so you should see two 12 guage wires coming out of the harness.

These go to your starter circuit.

Unpluging the unit will do nothing for you as the circuit will remain open.

The two wires need to be connected together to allow the vehicle to start.

My guess is the red and red/blue wires are the wires I'm talking about.

So if you cut them close to the connector (leave a couple of inches in case you want to reconnect the unit) and connect them together (use a crimp connector or solder (you don't want to develop a bad connection as they always become a problem at the worst time)).

  9. Yeh I can probably route the fuel line there then back into the area where the internal tank is and back to original path.

Looks like I need to buy some fuel line.

I just routed the original line down there and then bought a new piece to go from the filter back to the original fitting.

I was actually lucky in the fact there was already an oval hole with rubber edging to route through. :thumbsup_anim:

  10. It's an aftermarket immobilizer.

Check the area under the steering column for the over ride button.

When I was installing alarms and starters I would usually mount the switch either on the bracket that has the OBD2 port on it or above the parking brake on the metal dash bracket.

  11. Buy a small Honda generator and put it in the boat and let it run until it dies. That's what we do a few times a year when we are in the middle of nowhere and we've gotta charge the batteries.. Quiet as well.

Yep, or buy one of the cheap Chinese ones (you know, the ones that sound like a 747 on takeoff) and run it all night to charge your batteries. That should get the point across to the mgmt. :whistling:

  12. Some questions:

1/ was this the first time it was run this year (fogging oil in the cylinders)?

2/ did you mix the fuel or is it left over from the old owner?

3/ have you changed the plugs?

    Some things to try:

1/ There could be too much oil in your mix so mix a new batch with a good quality oil (either a premium or synthetic oil) your engine will thank you and it will run smooter with less smoke). If using synthetic follow the mixing instructions on the bottle as you need less oil than with regular dino oil.

2/ pull plugs and replace them (clean the old ones with a wire brush and keep them as spares)

Some things you need to know:

1/ Starting the motor while the lower unit is out of the water will damage the water pump impeller (a few seconds won't)

2/ Starting the motor while it is tilted can flood the engine (thus the reason it wouldn't start)
