  1. Thx again folks

I think looking on Kijiji for lenses is generally good advice---subject to the usual caveats re buying used.

Henry's 55-250 lens was list as $370 but was offered as part of the pkg for $200. That sounded too good to pass up.

    It's a decent lens.

Far from great but it's well worth the $$$.

It's the first lens I bought for my setup too.

It even works well for taking pics at the good old hockey game!! :D

  2. Made it back out to the cabin this Easter Monday and did a little work.

Got a bunch on notches done in the back wall studs to let in my loft floor rim board.

Arms were about ready to fall off after cutting all of them with my heavy Skil saw. :o

Also got the first board in place. :good::good:

  3. What's the purpose? Just tie a line to a car and have someone drive away. You aren't going to land the car either. When I had a dog I would tie the line to her collar and play fetch in the basement in the dead of winter. Good way to set up the drag and see exactly how much line is going out when the reel is screaming.

Her husband has landed a 200# yellowfin tuna off the rocks. :D

  4. Yes I think it's about 3 hr drive to the Outer Banks. I have no idea if my Lund can be used in salt water though, even if it can, I have to stay real close to shore due to its size.

Plenty of protected water to fish.

No need to head out deep or far off shore.

Your Lund will be fine in the salt.

You need to give it a thorough rinse inside and out as well as the trailer and flushing the engine and washing your tackle after each trip though.

  5. I have pulled my boat about 6,000kms one way.

Before the trip I replaced the rims and tires with new and put the old ones in the boat as spares.

I then did a full repack on the bearings and had a spare set just in case.

I also had a tub of grease and the tools needed to replace the bearings if needed.

Like Bill I checked the hubs and tires @ each fuel stop.

  6. When getting into the DSLR game, what people really need to realize is that their investment should be in glass (lenses) not the bodies (Go figure I just upgraded to a 7D mk II, lol).. Bodies change, great lenses should be looked at as investments for the most part. You could have the greatest DSLR body, but put that behind a crappy lens and nothing is going to help.

    YUP!!!!

Image quality is all in the glass!!!

    FYI, that's the body I want!!! :good::good:
