I have been looking at the SHIMANO Calais DC Digital Control Baitcasting Reel, thinking I really need one but them I found out they cost with tax in about 900 bucks 900 buck CND...that's nuts they are only about 700 bucks in the States....like that's going to help well I found a new one on Ebay but the Japanese model same thing but the manual is in Japanese...I could live with that and the starting bid is 399.99...well that's well under half price...I could do that but no one has bid on it...so I wait a few days..still no one bid..I put in min. bid...aday later and just a few hours to go and no one else has bid I am thinking, did I read it wrong..is it a different reel or are they only selling the case for the reel..why is it so cheap so the last few miutes you keep refreshing to make sure you are the high bid.... dang I got it for the price I wanted plus shipping and ins. so then..what will I have to pay for duty and tax at the border.... well today at lunch I got it at the post office..I had an extra 200 bucks in my pocket..just in case the lady said 16 dollars please for duty.... that was it it was the reel I thought it was the reel to beat all reels and I go it here for under 450 CND..what a deal.... but why do I really need this thing............. now I need to tell the wife don't I well

yeah, it had to go

Yup 1 turn of the handle , 6.2 turns of the spool but that doesn't tell the whole story on gear ratio , it's the number of inches of line it takes up per turn of the handle that really counts and that depends on the size of the spool plus gear ratio

the law states they can fish the river this time of year...so they are within the law...so you personal beliefs don't mean anything and really shouldn't be posted in someone elses thread..starting your own thread..fine jumping in to a thread asking for your opinion..... go for it...but there is no place here for people bashing people fishing within the law IMHO...... hate the law not the fisherman

you might want to look into a camera that floats or you could build a set of floats for your new camera....you just know it will end up in the water -

you can get wire and make your own, tie directly to the lure with no snap or swivel...it can help a bit but weeds are weeds

well I am glad that you will not respond any more to this thread and you read into my statement what you wanted it to mean then tell me it's Offensive that guy fishing from shore , which this topic is about.....who know ..it may be the first time he has ever fished or maybe he lost his job and is trying to get enough fish for a meal..who knows.. but it is not every persons 'job' to worry about every detail of the fisheries the very second he picks up a rod for the first time any more then it's you job to do every thing possible to protect the planet, so you son has a planet to live on and by your answers you don't worry or think about the big picture of the world very much, ......but I offend you because I state, it's not every fishermans job to see the big picture about fishing..now that is offensive..that's twisted
-
... well it was you telling me that you found what I said offencive... why. for not sharing your values ..lets not twist things .....it was I that said lets respect peoples values people read anything they want into posts
-
I hope you got my point that one persons values (big picture) will always be different from the next persons values ..most people who believe in P3TA, really believe that they see the big picture and that we are dead wrong fishing.it is cure it is in humane. it is wrong.... and they will tell you to see the big picture..their values..their big picture... so I believe that we must leave our values in our pocket when talking about this stuff and deal with the law.....and that we can use against people .... we can try to educate... and it would be great if we could get more people to follow our values about fishing but pushing you own values onto others is just like pushing your religion onto others...
-
as do I about you so, you look at the big picture in everything in life or just fishing so I take it you don't fish because fishing for sport is cure and unnecessary you will not have children, because the world is getting over populated you don't drive a car because if you look at the big picture you would be killing the world using oil products you clearly only use solar power and wind power because everything else is killing the planet or is it just fishing where you have great insight and can clearly see the big picture and all else in the world should think the way you do........give me a break people that think everyone else should have the same valves as them sure are full of themselves if they are within the law leave them the hell alone...they even made a law to protect their right to fish

oh yeah, we Canadians are always looking for ways to help out beavers I personally have not grabbed too many in the water

I don't care what type of fisherman they are I like to see more inspections of their kept fish I was in the canal in Keswick wait to put the boat on the trailer I saw a bass OOS swimming and noticed that it had a hook in it's mouth just then it swam away and a unattended rod moved toward the water..I realized it was caught on the rod just then a women ran over and grabbed the rod moved it way from the waters edge and let out some line.. I said you know that fish is out of season and must be let go she said it's not my rod, I just didn't want it to go in the water....... a minute later I see her looking at the road and entrance to the park a man and women are coming into the park a a fair pace and holding a green garbage bag......didn't take me long to put 2 and 2 together... she ran out to meet them, he looked over at me and handed the bag to the women and came to the rod he looked at me looked at the fish in the water, set the rod down and stood there I took out my camera took a picture of the fish the rod and him then he said" well the fish was going to die and we are going to dispose of it I say the law states that you must release an OOS fish even if it is dead he lets it go and walks away.... now you know he knew he was breaking the law, made his wife and daughter be part of his crime..and he was a guy that lives just down the road from the park and he didn't look any different then I look and did not have a bucket of any colour but the bag was green..dark green ..almost black..I am thinking a glad bag.........damn those glad baggers yes we need they people to be caught and punished
