  1. it's about the third or 4th outing when I am organized
  2. Well some said just keep adding swivels to stop line twist. Most do not like a swivel above their float and up to 5 swivels. And I think most agreed it was simpler just to learn how to cast it right But keep trying.
  3. I just bought a 101 minnkota ilink and hummingbird 895 finder. Can't hook it up till spring. Toys are us
  4. They always hook more fishermen then fish with most fishing products.
  5. a foot of line out will not have reel line twist with spinning reels, let say those 500 icefishing reels many use has 3" of line per rap , so because of the way it falls off the reel you get 4 twist per foot 100 ft of line out and you have 400 twists , before you start jigging in line reel you get zero twist just like a baitcaster their is a post about the wallis cast with a pin reel, the guys were all saying the only way to get rid of twist others said they could stop using swivels using the wallis cast which lets the line strait out rather then the side cast that has the line come off like a spinning reel I have hours and hours of underwater camera viewing in shallow and deep water and I have seen a jig sit and spin for 5 minutes without any jigging, Lloyd from this forum the charter boat guy is the very best fisherman I know and will bet 30 or more people here will agree. he uses them.
  6. you are joking right
  7. but spinning reels, by design twist the line each and every time you let the line out and adds line twist any tine you reel while the drag is slipping inline reels do not so lures should spin less
  8. but did it catch trout?

  13. I don't blame or begrudge anyone who is set with a good retirement income but I just wanted to say I know quite a few that do not "Nearly 1.3 million workers in Ontario do not have access to any type of employer-sponsored workplace pension. In Canada’s private sector, only one person in five has a workplace pension"
  14. I know people who did nothing but save, the companies pension went bust and so did they I know people who never had the toys I had because they invested very cent they could, the market crashed and I know people who worked for 40 years but did not a pension plan and are now trying to live on the scraps the government sends them. it is wonderful that there are so many people here that are doing so well, but there really are people who needs food banks who take their car off the road for a while each year because they don't have enough for insurance and 2 bucks for each license and vehicle plates went up and home heating went up and hydro electricity went up but we are still ok, so screw the poor and quit crying over a 2 buck increase or is it, but for the grace of god go I

  23. -------------- Hi I have received several inquiries regarding the legality (use and possession) of several ice fishing tip ups. One is called the automatic ice fisherman and can be found at: http://www.automaticicefisherman.com/index.html If you view the video on the web site you will see that the Tip up holds the rod in such a way that the rod is tensioned similar to a downrigger rod, when the fish takes the bait a release mechanism is activated and the rod is released indicating a bite, the angler can then grab the rod and set the hook. This type of set up does not meet the definition of a spring gaff - "spring gaff means a spring-operated device for impaling or hooking a fish and includes sping-loaded hooks that are triggered when a fish bites the bait" and therefore is legal for use and possession within 30 meters of any water. A second piece of ice fishing equipment is called the Hook Set Tip Up and can be viewed at http://hooksettipup.com/ If you view the video on this site you will see that this tip up contains a spring that is "loaded" when set. When the fish hits the bait and triggers the release the spring mechanism sets the hook, and a flag is released. This set up falls within the definition of a spring gaff as noted above, and is therefore not legal for use or possesion within 30 meters of any waters. If you have any questions regarding this gear or any other type that you encounter please do not hesitate to contact me.
