  6. wow, hard to believe that's from simcoe. Looks like one of those beasts from Great Bear Lake in the NWT.
  7. i went to the columbus muskie show. They had some cool stuff there. This was my first time to an all muskie show and i really enjoyed it.
  8. We have an imported food section here at one of our local grocery shops and they have some speciality canadian items like Ketchup chips, coffee crisp, aero. That was my biggest adjustment when i moved to Kentucky from ontario 3 1/2 years ago. I had to give up all my favorites like Harveys, Mr Sub, Tim Hortons, Coffee Crisp, Ketchup Chips
  9. I figured i would pick some of the bare essentials and i also explained to my wife that this stuff last for a lifetime. I told her how my other nice reels have lasted for well over 15 years, while the crappy stuff lasts a year or two and falls apart. She thought that was a good excuse. But i think i will be working it off at home doing dishes, cooking food, etc.
  10. I just picked up a calcutta here in the US and with Taxes and and currency exchange it was $270 CDN. The same reel at Lebarons with taxes in was $330CDN. Thats a difference of $60. Thats crazy.
  11. There is a musky show going on in this area this weekend. So i took a little road trip with the wife. I picked me up a few goodies. But i think i spent my entire fishing allowance for several years, and my wife almost killed me when she found out how much i spent. She was ok with it after i explained to her why i needed another rod and reel. Anways, I picked a St Croix 7.6 M/H rod and Shimano Calcutta 400. Also a few spinner baits, bucktails, a jointed believer and a top raider.
  12. wow, thanks so much for sharing those pics. Now i can day dream about fishin in northern ontario in the summer.
  13. Lew, i use that ramp often myself and know exactly what you are talking about. When will people learn! People have no respect for anything, and especially the environment these days.
  14. looks a nice trip! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
  15. I usually do ok on the BOG during the summer. This year i made 5 trips for muskie and i have only one muskie to show for it. Things were definitely not the same fishing quality wise compared to other years. Who knows whats going on.
  16. some nice pike, thanks for sharing!
  17. Looks like i have my answer. Thanks all for taking the time to respond. I will be picking up my new reel this week.
  18. I have narrowed down my choices for a muksie reel to two specific reels, but i cant decide between then two of them so i need some input from the muskie pros. I will be using this reel for big bucktails and spinnerbaits with big blades, and baits will most likely weigh more than 2oz. 1)Shimano Calcutta CT400B Baitcast Reel. Geer Ratio of 5.0:1, line capacity of 14 LB/260 YDS and $219.99 USD. 4-bearing system (3 ball + 1 roller bearing) weight - 11.7 OZ 2)Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Record Baitcast Reels RCN60HC with drilled power handle. Geer ratio 5.3:1, line capacity 14 LB/245 YDS price $149.95 USD also 6 bearing system featuring 4 corrosion-resistant ball bearings and 2 roller bearings 13.3 OZ So what do you guys think? Which one should i go for? Or is there a better reel in your opnion? Thanks.
