Hey everyone If you were to lose your fishing license... what would you have to do to get a new one ? Thanks

By painting over the other stuff... wont that create a problem ? the paint old paint under neath is going to keep flaking right ? so painting over it will make the other stuff not stick as well ?

So I made it over to take some more detailed pics of the boat . I power washed it to get the flakes of paint off and I also rinsed the inside out to get rid of some of the debris ! This the leaky spot that he patched up ! seems to be holding strong ! The engine looks good... looks like there might be a leak somewhere ??? there seems to be a bit of oil and gunk around the bottom of the power head ? I tried to take a pic as best I could but it doesn't show much. I'm not to worried about it ! The bottom of the plastic is lose, and I don't know how to fix it... I can move it around pretty good and there seems to be a bit of a rubber seal lose around the base ??? dunno what it is ? haha What would be the best way to get all this crap off.... I think its the glue from the carpet that was in there before... and like rock on there ???? tried a paint scraper and tried some paint thinner and there was no luck... any suggestions ??? Dumb question, But, it wont damage the aluminum or anything will it ?

Thanks everyone ! Yea moving the bow stop forward was one of the first things on the list. Do you think it would be smart to move the axle of the trailer farther back as well ? Im pumped to start diving into this thing. I wanna get her in the water and take it for a spin !

Hey everyone Well finally a deal came up I thought was pretty good. So I jumped on it. It a 14.5ft aluminum with a 18HP Merc on it. The owner prior to the guy I bought it off of did a really POOR job painting the boat and its flaking BAD so Im going to need to re-paint it. He started the motor up while I was there and it fired up first pull ! New prop last year and water pump. Plus a tune up in the fall ! Trailer was also included ! I got the whole package for $1000 Good deal ? Here are some quick pics of it ! More detail will come tomorrow !

Hey everyone I want to put a casting deck in the boat that I end up buying. If it doesn't already have one. I watched the video on you tube of all the Jon boat conversions and I saw some pretty awesome boats. Who here had built there own casting decks or converted their small 14' or 16' aluminum boat ? What kind of material did you find worked best ? Also, what is the best method for painting an aluminum boat ? The one I looked at today is flaking REALLY bad so I will need to re-paint it ! Thanks

So would boat motor and trailer be worth say $1000 ? No idea what the condition is, but say " good " , would it be worth $1000 ?

Hey everyone I came across an add on Kijiji for a 15' aluminum with a 18HP Merc. on the back ! Ive never heard of a 18 HP merc. before... just wondering what they are like ??? Seems like odd numbers to me... 15 foot boat.... 18HP motor ? hahah

hahah Im kind of up in the air on this show. The first one I watched has " Fishermom " on it... and I mean... yea thats cool that the Mom was so into it... but they went fishing for like blue gills and that was about it... Well there has been no progress on the motor since the last post.... I slipped a disk in my back on sunday... playing FRISBEE of ALLLLL things ! I can tell ya one thing, I dont wish the pain on my worst enemy... I was layed up for 2 and a half days.... todays first day back to work and I STILL can barely walk ! I think Im going to save myself some time and hassel.. and the possibility of ruining the unit... and just dropping it off to a local guy here that was well referred ! Thanks for all the help thus far everyone !

Hey everyone I saw these on WFN a few nights at, I believe on "Gettin Schooled" Anyhow... the action on the 4" swimbait was AMAZING !!!! Really got me thinking about these lures. Even the Wife was impressed by these baits ! haha I think it gives me the reason to buy a few ! Question is.... How does everyone feel about these baits ???? Pros? Cons ? I budgeted $200-300 for it... so the Garmin 300C caught my eye. Im just curious who has experience with this unit and what people have to say about them ! Thanks

HAHA I don't think so, I wish I would have gotten some pics of the damage, but I didn't have the camera . There is about 1.25" from end to end.... Maybe If I can just pull those wires a little tighter to get them close together but I dont know how much slack is there.... but the other thing, I SUCK AT SOLDERING !

Thanks Boatman, I went to mess with the motor a bit today... I blew it off with the air compressor and I come to find out that all the wires are chewed right through :angry: :wallbash: I took a brush and kind of brushed whatever I could off at first, then went to town with the blower and cleaned it up. Once that was done... I saw that the wires ( the ones on the top that are covered with dirt ) have actually been DEMOLISHED by the mice haha a couple were chewed right in half ! SOOOO I'm going to need to replace the part I believe its the power pack ? .... found this one on eBay... is it the right one ?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem= I think I'm going to go back over to my grandparents tonight and grab some pics of the spark plugs. When I pulled them out to have a look, they were pretty black, and they looked a little gunky ! I'm a rookie when it comes to this stuff so I don't know if that's normal or if its something I should be concerned about ?

I have yet to get the model #... but I think it is pretty straight forward... most of the re-search has led me to believe that the major things on these motors are used through the series.... I'm pretty sure its a 1980 model... and I have found a site with all the original part #'s... So i should be alright, I think ? So to replace the oil, Should I just leave it on the stand how I have it now ? Ive read about the special filler adapter for the bottom end, Ill have to go out and get me some. I have to figure out what kind of oil is needed as well

I should be able to just take the old plug into the shop and they can get a replacement from that right ? I'm not sure what type of plug I need for sure.
