  1. Thanks for the offer Mike. I didn't want to commit to anything just incase its a nice day for fishing ya know ? Ill keep in touch as the date gets closer.
  2. you may see me there..... if Im not on the DEEETROIT that day . Hopefully the weather is crap so no one can hunt/fish and everyone will go to the show. I was planning on a table as I have a bunch of crap collection dust that could be sold. Hopefully its a good turn out Tyler.
  3. Hmmm seems kind of sudden ? was he sick ? Sad news.
  4. Buddy has a Ranger 620 with a 250 Verado and we fish 2-3 ft of water on LSC pretty regularly. Dont let the "walleye" name tag scare you. I would be looking at multi species FORSURE. Way more versatile
  5. They are nice shirts Mike !!! I'm still kicking myself that I forgot to pick up those bucktails from your front door step all those years ago. I could have a Original Handle bars lure on my wall ! Its going be worth something someday
  6. hmmmm....... Im thinking a power source and a ram mount on the side .... all in one F/F, rod, tackle storage system. Nice case by the way.
  7. Thanks for all the comments guys Unfortunately .... the ice seems to be finished for this year around here.... time to set it back up for soft water and get ready for the DEEEEEEEEEEtroit river !!! Tight lines everyone
  8. I saw that video last week. There isn't much to be said that hasn't already been said many times over the last bunch of years. The only way I can make myself feel better is to KNOW I do my part in keeping things clean. I need to get more serious about recycling. I know I can do that
  9. I think I will ad one for next year (Version 2.0) so if I forget to charge over night, or if we go on a trip up north and I forget to charge.. there is no worries. For an extra $20-30 it will be worth it.
  10. Well yesterday I ran it pretty well all day ( 9am-5:30pm) and she dropped to about 11.6 V. That was FULLY charged the night before. I was really impressed with the amount of time I got out of the battery. I think it shuts off at 11 volts ? I can't remember. If it were a "from dusk till dawn " type of fishing day. I think it would have died.
  11. I used it yesterday and it accounted for at least 10 fish. I would have not got those bites if I didn't have the HDS there. It really opened my eyes .... how many fish have I missed THIS YEAR alone without the electronics ?
  12. Bass Haven in Mitchells bay...... 519-354-4242 Waterway camp..... www.waterwaycamp.com ... 519-352-3085
  13. I agree.... but for the price, I couldn't find another box that was nearly as sturdy/heavy duty for the same price. The "cheaper" tool boxes etc. were either to small, a awkward size, or flimsy as heck ! I was surprised to find such a nice carry case for $30 though.... I'm thinking about getting another one to store my HDS screens in during the summer months to transport them to/from the water.
  14. A couple weeks ago, I had posted the question about making my HDS7 portable. Thanks again to everyone who replied and helped me out. I took some time last Friday night to put everything together and see if I could make it work. So I bought a Aluminum Carry case from Canadian tire for $30... A 12V battery & Charger for $50... and I was ready to go. . I used the spare transducer I had lying around and rigged it up on some extra 1" aluminum angle I had... lying around lol It fits nicely in the rod case for transport. So.... I have had it out on the ice and tested it for all of 15 minutes. We moved at that point to some really skinny water ( 3 ft) so I had no use for the Sonar anymore.... which sucked lol What I did find out from the little time I got to use it.... ITS AWESOME !!!!! lol Its like playing a video game. I never realized what I was missing by not having a sonar/flasher till now. Like the title says.... its Version 1. It was thrown together with little thought, I just wanted something ready for the next day. I would like to clean up/re-route the power cable and lead wires. Also, I would like to get an ice transducer for the unit. I could potentially pack everything into the little case that way. If not, the ice transducer is a little more user friendly, I don't have to worry about it being level, etc..... stay tuned for V.2 ! Thanks for looking PS... A bonus about having it set up as a portable... I can bring it inside, or in the tackle room and play with my way points, study maps, etc. Its great !!!
  15. Jumping in here... The only thing that bothers me about gas prices.... is they seem to come up with a reason for the price to spike. Hurricane Katrina sticks in my head..... Gas prices almost doubled at that time. But once everything was brought back online.... They only fell 20-30 cents ? Why ?? I dont know much about how the economics work... But it doesn't make sense to me. ALSO.... I agree with you on having to pay our prices compared to the rest of the world. My family in England pay close to $2.50 + / PER LITER !!!! When I was there 5 years ago, at the price it costs them .... It would have cost me over $150 to fill my Pontiac Grand Am ... Ill take $1.30 in that instance. At the same time.... I can drive 20 minutes away, cross an imaginary line ( the Border ) and pay $.90-1.00 a liter.
  16. The only reason is because I already have the HDS units. I have two of them I bought for the boat last year. I bought them used, so I don't have a whole lot of money invested. I only used one for the MAJORITY of the season.... so I figured I could use the other as a unit for on the ice..... the 3-4 times a year I get out. I have invested enough in ice fishing this year so far :/.... I don't want to go out and spend another $2-300 on another F/F. lol Especially with this warm spell that just rolled through..... I don't think we are going to see ice in southern Ontario the rest of this season.
  17. Hey everyone The wife and I are trying to save some money. So I am looking for a little project at home that I can do with some scrap peices of woods around the house. Im asking those of you who have built your own tip downs/ups ( different names depending where your located I have found lol ) to show your builds ! I have a few guys asking to come out on the ice ... they want to bring there kids and I figure this would be the most effective way to keep the kids busy... chasin down tip ups all day ! Thanks in advance
  18. 98% of my baits are "R-bend" which are completely fine for bass/eyes..... once the toothy critters/leaders come into play... closed eye is the only way 3/8 - 3/4 is in my box as we speak..... with a couple of 1oz " bottom dwellers for those finiky smallies in 100 degree summer heat
  19. Do you have to use that style of tranducer ? Or can I use the spare I have, meant for the boat ?
  20. What is the price of the kit ?? I can't access the site @ work
  21. Hmmm plenty of great ideas guys !!!! I guess I have some work to do !!
  22. Hey everyone I was just wondering if it is possible to make my HDS7 portable for ice ? What would it require ? Thanks ?
  23. Thanks.... as long as everything goes well, I bought a nanook used. Im pretty excited. A friend has a nanook and they are pretty decent !
  24. I have to decide between these two huts.... Eskimo Quick flip 2 or a Clam Nanook As far as quality and ease of use, which of the two would be better ? Thanks
