  1. SHE big female was hooked bad enough that from the fight the gills on one side were almost coming out her mouth. i always use a single 2/0 soft plastic wide gap worm hook to help prevent this from happening but gonna taste good i think and your right i didnt need to be feeding the mudpout and crayfish.
  2. thanks Leech! and yea it was getting cold 17- and 27- with wind
  3. one on the ice was 36 inches about 13-15 lbs it was taken just before dark when we were leaving and no flash on the cell phone camera. the other might of git the 24 inch mark
  4. whatever happened to the good ole' ------>?
  5. went out to a little lake other than my favourite today always good for a feast of perch and some pike ended up with a bunch of good perch 3 pike and a small wallie too! didnt know they were in there. i know your all saying i should have let the pig go but she was caught pretty good in the gills and i didnt think she would have made it!
  6. if nature always keeps itself in check when are the corrmorants gonna decline? and when the winters are harsh coyotes are one of the few creatures that dont die but rather prosper by using intelligence to take down deer and other such animals that are more affected by the conditions. it is a known fact that hunters are what we rely on to keep numbers down in animal population that is why there are rules and regilations in certain areas or zones across the province, and i believe this all started as a question about how high a brush wolf can jump! no hard feelings just an educated opinion. Matt
  7. i actualy skip on any liquids theres enough in the frozen meat i like the spoon to stand up in the bowl! but a beer or two afterwards is always good! and a bit of both maybe crazy chef du nord!
  8. so sorry to hear i know the feeling all to well lately and know that the best feeling is knowing that a group of people like here at OFC are wishing you the best to come and all have condolences for you in this hard time!
  9. i am originally from espanola and fish the island a fair amount and the sight of them around the manitou and blue jay creek in michaels bay in the spring taking down fingerling salmon is a hard sight to see. the only fair thing to do is have a culling system by hunters and fisherman (with licenses) of courses to take them down and report an approximate number of kills made then the goverment can open and close "the season" on these creatures as necesary to keep the population down to a minimun a few of these birds isnt a terrible thing but the numbers we are seeing is un real and needs to be taken care of and if u are a P3TA person so be it we as humans have the death penalty for certain crimes so why not for this black bird of DEATH? it is important to keep a balance but we all know how boring the teeter totter is when the other kid is twice yours size,!
  10. poatatoes carrots some venison or moose stew chunks onions and a pile of random spices that sound good at the time lol, slow cooker on low at 8 am before i hit the ice for fishing and voila dinner is ready at 5 and maybe a bit of garlic bread on the side!
  11. nope, its warm here right now at -6 celsius, quite above what we've been having and as for lake whanipitae i dont know why it isnt frozen there is a good flow of water running through it but last time i drove through there the river was froze up a bit

  21. i suscribe to OOD and BASSIN' the main reason for OOd id becasue with my job i am all over the province and can read articles of many places i have been to or close to, and BASSIN' becasue it has a few tips in it that i enjoy trying mainly because most of my fishing is for bass as you can see by my albums
  22. i had a dog (domestic) shaped a bit like a greyhound she was a blue tick hound and long leg beagle mix and could jump into the back of a ford truck over the tailgate and onto our 5 foot high deck with ease! just remember that the fence will only be 4 feet high once you get 2 feet of snow as well!
  23. i had 3 favourites this year my largest speck largie and northern! weight of 6lb 11oz on the bass and the size of the speck was 21" long and 19.5" in girth the pike was 43" long
  24. Jmahon if u would like to send me a message on occasion for some updates on ice conditions let me know i'm in north bay which is about 80km south of temagami as the crow flies have had some luck on jumpin bou before and as for the ice we got a good stroke of luck this past weekend with rain and warm weather it melted the snow on the ice and froze it up pretty darn stiff the lakes looked like rinks when i was out fishing yesterday and i have one of the temagami area maps and as wayne said only opens feb 15th as well as speckle trout and if u are chasing specks instead remember only one over 12.1 inches (yes very sad) Matt
