  1. Excellent boat. I thought It very interesting you choose to rig it yourself. Its the smartest thing a guy could do. Congrats
  2. Simply awesome Simon. The photo of your son in front of the planted field is stunning. I can remember the year you posted fishing pictures after visiting your folks. Little did I know I would still be watching 3 yrs later. Thanks for sharing
  3. I've owned a Pro Mag Smoker for 13 yrs. ( 16'4") Always gararged when not on the water. Still looks factory fresh. 2 reasons to buy the max rated horsepower are eventually you will wish you did and it gives you the most resale value. I've got a 90 bigfoot Merc and it will do 42mph.
  4. I haven't seen it mentioned but gasoline also cools the fuel pump. When you run them empty you're burning up the fuel pump.
  5. Dishwashers take a 24" opening. Some kitchens are fitted with modular cabinets so check to see if you have cabinet seams right at 24". It's worth a check. Try to keep it out of an inside corner as problems with drawer clearances can be a problem. You could shoot for a good mechanical man for elec/plumbing. He may very well already know a finish carpenter to fit the cabinets.
  6. In April if you can make it as far south as Missouri then fish Tablerock Lake. Excellent fishing for big bass.
  7. I can vouch for the durability of Smokercraft products. I bought a new 1998 promag and still enjoy it. The interior still looks very much like the day I bought it. It is always gararge kept. I've never had a factory problem and I roll with it often. To this day the holeshot I get with the transom makes me smile everytime. Its time for a new one and a Milenia is on the burner.
  8. It always warms up a cold, dark, winter night to read a Limey post and pictures. Thanks
  9. Whoa did anyone catch that 1975 Pontiac in the first photo? LeMans maybe?
  10. My wife insist's on a movie at home Sunday evenings but I would trade them for a Limey post any day. If theres video well then they're just that much better. Thanks!
  11. What a great ideal and a beautiful rod too. Someone's really going to love showing it off.
  12. Simply amazing Mike. I think back to when my son was your son's age, how glad I am he loved to fish. Fishing has held us together during some trying teenage times I'm happy to mention are now over. My proudest moment came when I realized the student had passed the master. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Happy Fathers Day Simone! You and Jack have many many years of fishing together, enjoy.
  14. Welcome to the Smokercraft family! I bought my ProMag ( 162) new in 98. The fit and finish still looks great today. Thats one heck of a rig.
  15. Damaged some rivets on a stump. After realizing my boat was leaking I ran JB Weld over the rivets. Actually a couple times. Sanded the paint off for adheasion and everything. It didn't work worth a crap really. I would try another approach.
  16. I may be in the minority but teaching children " Failure is frequent and common " seems harsh. Which of us would claim we failed today? and it was common? Failure only comes when something's over I prefer to teach an attitude that reflects continued effort until you figure it out.
  17. Happy Birthday Jack! Oh and Simon, not bad for a shot in the dark.
  18. Very nice Solo. Did you ever condider finding or ordering one from the factory?
  19. I haven't seen any discussion on naming it yet. You must have a name!
  20. Congrats and welcome to the Smokercraft family. I've owned my Promag since 99 and it has been a great boat. A Milenia may be next for me!
  21. Maybe the best part is you can't make a bad decision between them. I will say this for my riveted Smokercraft Promag.(98) When it was a couple years old I hit one of those stumps about 8" under water and damaged the bottom of the boat. Took it in for repairs and they had to remove the interior and replace a bunch of rivets and repaint. Its been like 8 or 9 yrs since and not a drop leaks in. It did cost the insurance co over $3000.00 dollars but thats why you buy insurance. A welded boat would of been a complete loss.
  22. In all fairness to the kids thats their biggest present day of the year. That and they are conditioned to recieve really good gifts and out comes junk. How would we of acted??
  23. Hey Fish I've been following the build from oh about a thousand miles away and have to say its awesome. I'm going to toast a cold one at you at completion. Keep up the good work.
  24. I know I live in the states but a boat dealer's a boat dealer anywhere. I think the repair shop was careless with the cover and what was sold. Was the cover left off the motor? I mean they couldn't stretch it back for him? The service writer has the burden to make customers aware of whats being sold and also this man's satisfaction at completion regardless if he bought the boat somewhere else. Lets hope the dealer is a good one and corrects the problems.
