  4. Thanks guys, I was pretty amazed to see a beaver so close to downtown Toronto....well this kind of beaver Good looking out Gerritt, I had no idea about Giardiasis, but I just googled it..and I definitely don't want it lol. do people actually hunt beavers? beaver jerky? -Ben
  5. I was at one of my local spots today trying for some Brown's and was skunked yet again , I think once the water warms a little more and the alewives start spawning the Browns will move up shallower... But anyways I did have a chance to see 3 beavers which was amazing. I had my back turned to the water while I was retying and heard a big splash. I turned around and there was nothing there, I fired a cast out and then I heard another big splash...It was a 30-40 pound beaver about 10 feet from me in between me and my lure...I yelled Holy $%^! at the top of my lungs and he was gone before I even knew it. I decided to put my rod down and just watch and try to take some pictures of these beavers. I waited around for about 40 minutes until 2 more beavers came out of this dam. One swam away from where I was and went out of sight. The second beaver was swimming towards me! He came up on shore about 30 feet from me and just sat down looking around. He looked really sleepy and began to chew on some twigs. I decided to get a little closer and began taking pics.... He let me get very close before he darted away, I guess he's still sleepy from winter! The reflection in this picture is the CN Tower Gotta love this shot with the CN Tower in the background! So even though I didn't catch any fish it was still a really amazing time out there, In my 2 times fishing for browns this year I've been skunked both times but I saw a beaver this time and a Map turtle last time so I'm happy either way. -Ben
  6. I prefer Bud or Heineken, and Amber Bach is one of my favorites, but its only in the US Since I've gone back to college full time and stopped working I've discovered the wonderful world of Old Milwaukee
  7. not to hijack your thread but I have a similar question that I've been wondering about...I'm not really a steelhead guy but I was wondering why don't you guys just fish with a roe sack on a small jig? I've always hated fishing with a pearl necklace of weights on my line, i find it annoying...just my opinion, but like I said I'm by no means a steelheader. -Ben
  8. LOL GCD's lookin at your little white johnson
  9. Awesome shots!! I love seeing the pics from peoples exotic vacations...especially in the winter, well I guess its spring now -Ben

  12. Depends on how big a lure your throwing and what kind of rod your throwing it on. You'll need to adjust the brakes on the inside based on the situation. On my Shimano baitcasters I usually fish with 2 or 3 brakes turned on, and the other 3-4 off, but if your throwing a big bait you might need 4 brakes turned on...or if your throwing a very light bait you might want to go down to one brake turned on...Its all relative to what your doing. The way I understand it is that the pins/brakes on the inside are to control how fast the line comes off at the beginning of the cast... the cast nob or whatever you call it on the outside is more to control the line coming off at the end of the cast. So if your birdsnesting at the beginning of the cast...adjust the inside brakes, if its happening at the end of your cast, adjust the cast nob. I should print this off for my dad....he's been using baitcasters for 20 years and cant go 10 minutes without a birdsnest lol -Ben
  13. 100 grand you say....yea I'd prolly be in the water too lol -Ben
  14. I was just searching around on youtube and came across this video, pretty crazy... I don't think I'd go through that for a 2 pound bass -Ben
  15. to bad the PB got away ...Nice little Piggy though, your crazy going out in the yak! -Ben
  16. Thats an awesome lookin fish! especially on the UL!!! -Ben
  17. That's awesome, it seems like there isn't a lot Canadians fishing in the FLW or Bassmaster tournaments, Nice to see a Canadian finish top 10!! Anyone know if they'll be showing it on WFN??? -Ben
  18. Nice Pike Alex! -Ben
  19. Awesome lookin fish!! -Ben
  20. Reel: Shimano Cruxis... $120.... I bought one of these reels 3 years ago, then one again 2 years ago, and another one this past year. Their all still going strong and Im really impressed with them, for this price range I think its a really good choice. Rod: Bass Pro Shops Graphite Series... $30 nothing fancy but it gets the job done and their really durable.
  21. ahh good ol Okeechobee, some of my most memorable fishing trips were with my dad shiner fishing on the Big O...it seem like you either get 1-3 pound fish or 10+ fish there, well thats what I always noticed. -Ben
  22. Real men don't fish with pink baits....they fish with bubblegum baits I also like the pink X-raps, I've had a lot of success with them...Ciscoes/Lake Herring or whatever you want to call them are a major forage for a lot of fish, and they have a pinkish purple shimmer when the light hits their scales. Also Gobey's have a purplish shimmer to them. -Ben
  23. I was at Ashbridges Bay today trying for some open water Brown trout. No luck with the trout but I did see a turtle sunning itself which was pretty cool. I had a chance to take a bunch of pics of it, this turtle let me get within 3 or 4 feet of it without moving very far. I saw this from a distance and didn't think it looked like a rock...pretty cool with the CN tower in the background. I think I got a little too close and it went into it's shell, I decided to leave it alone and get back to fishing...even though I wasn't catching anything. I also saw a small muskrat looking animal, not sure what is was and I didn't have time to take a picture of it. All the animals and birds are coming alive which tells me Spring is coming!!! Can't wait for all the Ice to be off and the fish to be shallow! -Ben
  24. He wanted to be cool like the steelies...peer pressure. Sometimes fish get mixed up in the wrong crowd lol
  25. Supposedly the red line "disappears" in 15 feet of water or deeper...it actually just appears black though. I do a lot of fishing for largemouth in less than 10 ft. of water so I personally wouldn't use it. I think it would be fine in deeper water. -Ben
