The reason I don't like Kessel isn't really because of Kessel (so it's not really his fault). It's what Kessel represents. I don't like Kessel because of the way Leafs management acquired him. I've said this a number of times over the last few months in other threads, but I'll say it again here ... MLSE doesn't give a rats ass about winning, or building long term into a great contending team. They only want the "quick fix", the "goal scorer", and the "headliner" to get butts in the seats, and keep that income flowing. There's a reason why the Leafs are one of the most valuable teams in sports - they have rabid fans who make sure every game is sold out (despite also having one of the highest ticket prices in the league), and who buy anything and everything with the Leafs logo printed on it. If they printed the logo on condoms, I bet stores wouldn't be able to keep them in stock. As long as the $$ keeps rolling in (Ke$$el), MSLE has no incentive to change their ways. So why not - trade your first and second round draft pick in 2010 and a first round pick in 2011. The Leafs didn't pick up Kessel to rebuild a team around him. They picked him up so they would have a marquee player who scores goals, and so fans would continue to buy tickets to see those goals. That short-sightedness in the Leafs organization drives me crazy, and is therefore why I'm not crazy about Kessel. Sure, it's not his fault, but it's what Kessel represents while wearing the Leafs jersey.

Unfortunate to be born in southwestern Ontario into a Leafs family, so .... been a Leafs fan all my life. Been very very hard to be one though in the last 15 years. I'm 41, young enough to have never really "seen" a great Leafs team, and old enough to know that really hurts.

Can't seem to find you on Facebook Eddie ... -
What an unbelievable game. Russia scores first, then we tie it up, then back and forth to 3-3. Then we pull ahead 4-3 and never looked back. It's about time we finally get to watch some real hockey on TV, and get away from the NHL for a while. Unfortunately, most of those excellent, young hockey players (on all teams in the WJHC) playing for love of country and sport, will end up being highly-paid pros with that play for love of money, and not much else.

I've filmed a number of times with Bob bass fishing on Lake Champlain in Vermont. Actually, my icon pic to the left was taken by his producer a couple years ago. I couldn't agree more G2 - Bob's the best there is on TV and in person. No fake attitude or "tv personality". Bob in person is exactly how Bob looks and comes across on tv - he's hilarious, self-deprecating, honest, friendly and genuine in everything he says and does - he's just a real person who loves to fish and has been lucky enough and smart enough to turn it into a career from very humble beginnings. Congrats on the opportunity, and I'm looking forward to seeing the show!

If it's over 40 inches, it's way over 12 pounds.

He's arrogant and that needs to go, and whenever it happens it won't be soon enough.

I'm curious on the same thing. Trophy pike? If so, I'm seriously considering jumping in on the trip! -
RIP Pat. One of the best coaches in my recent memory of the Leafs (actually made it to the Conf. finals in the early 90's).

Burke and Wilson need to get their kicked to the curb as a pair. It's the only thing that will set the Leafs on a better path to the future, which is still a long way off. I was born in 1969 and raised as a Leafs fan (Habs second, thanks to Grandfather on mother's side thanks Grandpa!). I'm only 41. There's still a chance I might see a cup in my lifetime. I feel for fellow Leafs fans that are over 60

That wasn't the problem. We maintain all our boats very well, and keep it topped up with the Evinrude XD-100 oil. Not cheap, either.

We have two at work, one on a shocking boat and one on a jon boat. 70hp and 75. I would NEVER buy one for personal use. It uses way too much fuel, as much or more as my 150hp Honda, and it's only a 70hp. They idle very rough, and they have been in the shop more than they should have in the 5 years we've had them. Throttle positioning sensor, computer module, piston positing sensor, another computer module. It's non stop. How's this - running full throttle across the lake at about 30mph on plane with three guys in the boat, and the throttle positioning sensor suddenly decides that the throttle isn't actually full, it's only a quarter, so the engine drops from 5200rpm to 1200rmp. Everyone ends up on their face in the front of the boat. This happens ALL THE time. I don't know how many TPS's we've put in. Every time we take it in for servicing, the dealerships computer lights up with countless "codes" that need attention. IMHO, they are pieces of crap.

Ice fishing/Ski family trip end of December
lhousesoccer replied to icefisherman's topic in General Discussion
If it was January, I'd say give some thought to heading to Vermont. With the exchange rate now, a trip to the US is definitely your favour right now. In Vermont, you can ice fish Lake Champlain which is phenomenal for many species, or hit some of the smaller "inland" lakes for lakers, rainbows, big northerns, perch & crappie, walleye and bass (yes, bass is open and they are catchable through the ice). And you can't drive 20 minutes in any direction in Vermont without running into a ski resort on one of the many peaks of the Green Mountains. There's Killington, Pico, Sugarbush, Bolton Valley, Jay Peak, Stowe, Mad River Glen ... just to name a few. But the chances are there being good ice isn't that great in December. There will definitely be ice on some of the smaller lakes, but it could be questionable exact where and how much. -
Anyone Watching Real Fishing Right Now??
lhousesoccer replied to fishing n autograph's topic in General Discussion
While I love Bob's show, I lose interest quickly in episodes showing fishing that I know I'll never be able to afford to do myself. It's not just Real Fishing either. It's all fishing shows out there. Mostly, if I'm watching fishing on TV, it's because I want to see and learn about things I can do myself. There are probably many people in the fishing TV show audience that CAN afford trips to Costa Rica for marlin, or Knee Lake Lodge for giant pike. Sadly, I'm not one of them.
