Did anyone notice all the blood around the muskie's head and gills in the pic of the guy holding it vertically (the WRONG hold, by the way for a muskie). And then he releases it?

"My biggest fear is that when I die, my wife will sell all of my fishing gear for what I told her I paid for it". Keep that in mind. Congrats!

If the swine flu mutates in January, then your October innoculation will be useless. The shot has been developed for the current strain, not a mutated version.

The next pic, that's a house under that bump in the centre of the pic.

Try this website: Understanding and Interpreting a Depth Finder It's written just by an average fisherman (in other words, not a professional outdoor writer), but this guy really knows his electronics. There's no Pulitzer waiting for him, and the grammar is a little rough, but the information and tips are incredible. It's actually broken down into 6 parts. Part 1, Why Use a Depth Finder Part II, How Depth Finders Work Part III, How Objects are Displayed on the Screen Part IV, Purchasing a Depth Finder Part V, Adjusting a Depth Finder Part VI, Fundamentals of Reading a Depth Finder The best part of it is his screen captures of actual fish finders, and his explanation of what he's seeing. He even blew up ballons to "bass size", and anchored them underwater 5 or 10 feet down, then drove over them in his boat and took pictures of what his Lowrance screen was showing, then explained how it works, and how to adjust sensitivity etc. to get the best display. Really, really good stuff, I've found.

Yep - same deal here. You can't lightly squeeze the ketchup bottle for a "little" ketchup. You have to grab it with a vice-like death grip, and squeeze, and when that little valve finally gives way, you get 10 hot dog's worth of ketchup all at once. I hate it.

Been a long time since I've fished Pigeon. Makes me want to get back to my old stompin' grounds again! Great pics.

Ideas for southern vacation this winter?
lhousesoccer replied to lhousesoccer's topic in General Discussion
I like the "inexpensive" part, and the salwater fishing part even better, but if it's not hot enough for my wife to want to lay out on the beach or for my son to play in the water, then I doubt I could get her to go for it! -
My wife, 3-year old son and I hope to take a vacation somewhere warm, sunny and sandy this winter (a little fishing on the side would be a bonus . I've been poking around the internet looking for Caribbean deals and the prices are a bit shocking. The travel section for the Toronto Star has some good deals, but it's all for trips in Oct-Nov-Dec. We're looking for the mid-winter. We're not looking for over-crowded, high-rise beach front 5-star resorts. We are looking for somewhere nice, clean, quiet, and relaxing. I was thinking maybe some people here might have some suggestions that might fit the bill, from personal experience. Thanks!

Say you won a contest to fish with 3 TV Fishermen...
lhousesoccer replied to Kinger's topic in General Discussion
JF - have you personally fished with any tv fishing pros, and therefore are basing this statement on your personal experience? Or are you just assuming that TV pros will cop an attitude when fishing with us "lowly people"? I personally have been fortunate enough to spend a number of days in the past fishing with 3 different TV pros (not all at once ... different guys, different years) previously mentioned by others in this thread, and I couldn't disagree more. They weren't there because I won some sort of contest and therefore had to be there. They were there on their own accord. I was immediately put at ease by their openness, friendliness, and their "I'm just a guy who loves to fish, just like you" attitude. I had a great time, and so did they, and we still keep in touch to this day. -
Great White Shark Caught Off Vancouver Island (pics)
lhousesoccer replied to a topic in General Discussion
They were only in danger, as you say, because the idiots TIED the shark to their boat. There's no reason in the world to kill a shark. If they were commercially long-lining for dogfish and caught the shark by accident, cut the line, don't rope it to your bloody boat and wait for it to drown itself, and possibly you along with it. That's just a pathetic waste of majestic marine life. Some people clearly need their heads examined. No wonder shark populations are in decline .... -
My accountant at H&R block says I only need to declare the sales as income IF I sell something for more than what I paid for it. ie. Selling used clothing, childrens toys, books etc. just to get rid of it, like an online yard sale (which is how eBay billed itself when it first started) does not meet the criteria to declare it as income. Howevr, if you buy stuff wholesale and then sell it for more, or sell things you make or fabricate yourself, for a profit, then yes, it's income. Anyone need any used, good condition size 2 children's New Balance, or Robeez ?
