hey guys, i'm getting really excited waiting for saturday to come..
i recently put a honda 30 4 stroke 3 cyl tiller on my 16.5 sylvan aluminum boat.
its a no frills fishin boat rated for a 40 hp. semi v hull. blah blah
what can i expect out of this set up? the engine does not have power trim
will it be pretty quick? troll nice? get up on plane well? i have an extra hydrofoil if need be..
thanks for the input
the rod is actally pretty stiff, i can chuck some big believers no problem/.
can u order from lebaron online? its pretty far from my house and i'm kinda lazy to drive there
i've been there a bunch of times
imHO its no good
overfished, i never landed anything, spent alot of time there. its always REALLY windy too..
if u are going that way, just go to mountsberg. its like1 5 mins up the road. bigger fish, less people
like it says, i got a 8 foot heavy action shimano bob izumi casting rod with a shimano chromica reel( not the best i dont think, whatever) with some braided line.
i'm looking into putting together a pike/muskie specific box.
what kinda tackle should i look at? should i used, as far as baits go?
i "reely" wana land a gator this year.
tahnks
yea, the only consol i would want would be if the whole back section of the boat could be inclosed to be safe from the elements. i wouldn't want a "bass boat" style consol.
hey thanks for the reply.
i think the overall deciding factor will be the weather on saturday. o i'll really have to play it by ear.
i figured u could only catch fish in the bay with a gob of worms and a bell sinker.. hahah
i always thought having a fat ass on one side of the boat would make more of a difference in balance?
especially drifting a jig in a nice walleye chop.
i caught a nice 20 inch bucket mouth in BOQ last summer around 8 am on one.. it put up a ncie fight.
i've also had good luck with heddon tiny torpedo's
suspending minnow color husky jerks are great too, although they aren't TW
i've always preferred tiller myself.
something about tiller screams SERIOUS FISHING. i dont know why. hahah thats how i feel.
personally, its less parts to break or malfunction aswell. turning can be more responsive aswell.
besides, whats more bad ass then a 90 hp 4 stroke tiller?
ive seen a couple boats fishing around the channel near the pier 4 launch before. didn't look like they were hookin into anything though.
if i head down to the bay where should go?
any lure suggestions?
sounds good guys. thanks for the help. i'll prolly troll a crank bait down the river ( prolly gold/silver depending on water color/weather) then maybe try our luck around the mouth of eerie for some dinner perch.
jen, do u work at fishmasters? maybe i'll come in and grab a couple doz minnows and see whats up.
where can i find links to how many fish i can catch and keep? sorry, i'm a newb.
i dont think eating a grand river walleye is in my best interest tho is it> hahah u could just imagine cutting it open and having like slime and mud pour out of it./
ive never ventured out into eerie before. i hear its in ur best interest t have a graph when u go out there. i'm still working on that.
long point bay sounds like it could be fun...
i stilll think i might be heading to lower grand tho, only because its the maiden voyage this year and i gotta see how this motor performs.
