Hi Everyone, Just thought I would let everyone know that the last day you can fish for walleye on the Bay of Quinte is March 1st up to until 11:59 pm. This Saturday is it and then you can fish for perch after that. Just thought I would let you know if you are thinking of one last go at it. Best regards, Sam

Hi Tapout, I have a guide that uses our store as a meeting place in the mornings as we are right next to 401 and is easy to get to. He picks people up in the morning and takes them out to the huts. He is better known on this board as Hawg Hunter and he has been a guide on the BOQ for 20+ years during the winter months he is out fishing 7 days a week morning and afternoon, so far to date our customers have iced 271 walleye yes you read that right 271 he have a 98% catch rate and yes you read that right too 98% catch rate! If you are interested let me know and I can make the arrangements for you. His price for a heated hut is 100.00 per day and that is for 2 anglers (only 50.00 each). Hope this is of help to you. Regards, Sam

Hi Everyone, Well I decided to take a break from doing our year end inventory at the store and took up the offer of going fishing with the famous Bay of Quinte guide Hawg Hunter. Funny he has always said that he will take me and put me on big fish whenever I want to go out fishing. Well I got tired of his persistent nagging to get me out of the store and I finally said alright lets do it. I followed him out and after parking the vehicles I hopped on his atv and out we went. Hawg Hunter drilled enough holes and started to jig and before I could get my rig setup he already had one on the ice. I guess this was going to be either a good day of fishing or an embarrassment on my behalf for challenging his expertise. We got started and before I knew it I had one on the ice as well. All in all we got 7 walleyes and we kept 5 between us with the largest being 5 lbs. Hawg Hunter then caught a 8lber and an 11lber and released them both. Too large to keep and of course everyone knows that the best eaters are usually under 6lbs. Hawg Hunter then decided that he should bring some huts out in the area and placed them right over the holes that we were fishing and come back for the afternoon bite. Here is our morning catch. The afternoon bite was slow and just before dark I landed a 12 lber and was thrilled to get a large walleye up through the hole. Released her for someone else to catch. The next day, Hawg Hunter had 4 people to guide out on the Bay and 2 gentleman from New York state came to our store this morning waiting to be taken out and 2 other local young anglers. The one angler from the USA was thrilled in landing his first Bay of Quinte walleye weighing in at 9 3/4 lbs. I then decided to head out today for the afternoon bite and meet up with Hawg Hunter and see how everybody he was guiding was doing today. The afternoon bite was extremely slow and one good size walleye was missed at the hole and the 2 young anglers missed a couple of walleyes as well. They were simply thrilled that they were able to mark many fish with their Vexilar and they will return to the area this weekend for more fun. Our guests from the USA also landed a nice pike and released it as well as several perch. My 2 afternoons of fishing ended on a great note and here is the final results. Thanks Hawg Hunter for making this outing a great experience I did need the break from work and you have made a believer out of me, great job. Best regards, Sam

DT10Sam, Well my name is Sam and I am an avid trapshooter shooting at those miserable little orange targets flying through the air launched from a machine. DT10 is a high end gun manufactured by Beretta and ironically this year I am tournament shooting with a gun that was made for me called Caesar Guerini. Well I am not about to change my handle at this stage. So if any of you guys are clay target shooters specifically trapshooting you will probably see me shooting this year as I get ready for the Provincial Championships and the Canadian Championships. I have had a 2 year rest from competitions and now I am ready to get back into it. Regards, Sam

Hi Jedimaster, Shipwreck is not safe the ice has just covered that area and I would say being new ice it might be about an inch thick. That whole area has new ice and I would wait for a while until you think of going out there. You might get lucky for the weekend however I would be on the cautious side and wait a liitle bit longer. Best regards, Sam

Hi Icewalker28, You are right the fee of 43.00 is for Canadians that live in other provinces other than Ontario. The clerk at Canadian Tire was incorrect, we sell licenses at our store and it clearly states in the information package the prices to be charged. I would assume that this information was not passed on to all of the clerks at Canadian Tire. Regards, Sam

All the best to you TJ and the family..............also to everyone on OFC. Regards, Sam
