Hi everyone, I had a friend drive up from Hamilton today and he stopped in to see how the business was doing. At the same time we had a few customers coming in for minnows and asking about where a good spot would be to get some walleye. After we gave them some advise my friend Dave stated that he would like me to guide him fishing if I had time to go today. Well I guess that is all it took I said that I really don't guide but I love to go fishing. I turned to Glen and let him know that I am taking the day off and then called my wife and let her know that I will not be at the store today cause I am going fishing and off we went. We hooked up the boat and off we went. We put in at Picton harbour and headed east of the ferry. when we arrived there I noticed quite a fishing frenzy at Keith shoals with 14 boats in the area. We marked many fish and did not land any in that spot, after an hour and noticing other leaving the area we then left to fish Thompson's point and the reach. We landed 14 fish with the largest at 12.2 lbs, 11.4lbs, 10.8lbs, 10.4lbs and many others in the 5-8 lb range. We kept 5 fish between us that were less than 4 lbs for dinner and I have to add that they were delicious. All of the walleyes were caught in 30-40 feet of water and the lucky bait today were Reef Runners and Rapala TD11's in many different colours. Yo-Zuri's were not producing today as they normally did in the past few days. I guess the walleye's wanted something different on the menu today. All of our fish were caught off of planer boards. Dave with his first walleye hitting off of the planer board. Dave with his first walleye at 11.4 lbs. his personal best. I was next with my first of the day at 12.2 lbs. Dave with another nice walleye. My third of the day. A couple of keepers for the frying pan. It did begin to rain and we called it a day with success and the company of a good friend. Best regards, Sam

Hi Bill, This is really not the information that I like to pass on but the fellow that owns it is not in great health and moving back to Barrie. We have a customer of ours that he bought a Vexilar FL18 last winter and hardly used it as there was only 6 weeks of ice fishing here at BOQ. Paul is his name and he is dying from cancer and wants to sell everything to cover his treatments. He has expressed that he would sell his Vexilar for 300.00 if I knew of anyone. I am thinking of just getting it so that someone can benefit from it. He also has other fishing equipment and I'm not sure if he has sold his boat etc. His depression over his cancer is also taking a toll on him. If you are interested let me know and I will pay for it and if you do not like it you are not obligated to buy it at all. Regards, Sam

Hi everyone, I had the boat hooked up to the truck to be there for Sunday morning and I received a distressful phone call that I had to be in another city for Sunday. The only cell phone number that I had was Bill Parker's and I called and got his voice mail and wanted to let everyone know that I could not attend for Sunday morning. I was pleased to see everyone Friday night and it certainly was a pleasure to meet new OFners well at least new to me. Whenever you are coming to the area send me a PM and I will see what we can do to get together and do some fishing and swap some stories. Best regards, Sam

Hi Everyone, Last night Laurie and I stopped in at Merland's to check in on the gang to see how everybody is doing. Due to the winds not many went out fishing and only 1 walleye was caught in 4-5 lb range. I then introduced Laurie to the "DOG" Greencoachdog that is and all she could think of is this the guy that goes fishing without his shirt on. We all said "Yep" and she kind of giggled. You see the dog was feeding wood on the fire and he was totally bundled up with insulated overalls and a hat with flaps all you could see of him was his eyes and smile. All Laurie could think of was to invite him back up for ice fishing but she said to the dog to bring more clothing. Well I was down there this morning at 6:30 and the guys are all excited getting the boats ready, looks like it will be a good morning for everyone to get out fishing. The weather seems to want to co-operate this morning for them all. There were many pics taken and I'm sure there will be a good report when everyone returns. Glen (dog) mentioned that he will be leaving tomorrow sometimes since the boat he is in is leaving in the morning. I then mentioned to Glen that I will be down in the morning with my boat and take him out. We want him to leave up here with hopefully some good pics of monster walleyes. Regards, Sam

Hi Everyone, That buck weighed 246.8 lbs. and I haven't had the opportunity to score the rack yet. That will be done as soon as the rack is dried and I will also have two more racks of similar size and will post the pics on here as soon as they're available. Today we weighed in another buck and it weighed in at 253.6 lbs. Best regards, Sam

Hi everyone, I have had the opportunity to weigh in a monster buck taken just outside of Belleville this week and now it has returned to me for my taxidermy services. I thought I would post these pics for everyone to see. This is the hunter that harvested this monster buck. Here is a pic with Glen holding the monster. One of our customer's is presently re-constructing our web site and we will have a taxidermy section on our site that will display some of our work. This buck will definitely be on there when it is completed. Best regards, Sam

Hey Doug, Glen was wondering how you would look in camo lingerie and then laughed. I thought that it might be a little tight on you..........so he backed down from getting you some. Still had a silly grin on his face . Regards, Sam

One thing that Glen did mention was that he brought up an extra T-shirt in case he needed it. Wait until he finds out how the weather changes and he will freeze his butt off. I'm sure everyone will take care of him, he is with a great bunch. Regards, SAm

Hi Guys, Well time for an update I had this character come in and I did not recognize him with his shirt on. here is a pic of him if anyone knows this guy you call and claim him he was last seen hanging around the Yo-Zuri and Rapala lures. Well Glen made it here safe and sound and I called Merland's and they will be pleased to take care of him for the night until the gang comes up tomorrow and on the weekend. He is all bundled up for our weather. Regards, Sam

With all of my years experience in taxidermy I have mounted both Brown's and Atlantic's. That fish is definitely a Brown Trout in fall colors. The males will get a hooked mouth in the fall and that male has a hooked mouth which is a little more than normal. Regards, Sam

Very nicely done Terry.........this is certainly a day for all of us to remember our boys in the war torn countries and those that gave their life. Best regards, Sam

No they are walleyes.........the same guys went out there today and from what I seen out there in the same area there must have been at least 50-60 boats. Most of the boats were hauling in large walleyes in the 10-12 lb range. I then had fisherman returning to our store letting us know that we were right with the info and that they had a very good productive day. I was also informed that the bite seemed to have shut down in the afternoon same as the previous day. Go figure this is the Bay of Quinte. Regards, Sam -

Hi Cliff, That would be great............I'm hoping to get some time off to fish with everyone when they come up here, at least I will make it down to meet everyone in the evening around the campfire. Regards, Sam -
Hi Everyone, I have been extremely busy with the hunting and fishing season and have been getting out for some walleye fishing which have been spotty for me. Some days we would get a large number of fish and the next day we were only washing our lures in the same spot. Yesterday morning there was a crew of guys from Illinois in here and they were getting walleyes until they got tired of hooking them. I seen their pics on their cameras and they also dropped off 3-12 lbers to get mounted. When I asked them where they were fishing they mentioned Keith's shoal which is just east of the ferry on the south side. I was out at Keith's shoal in the afternoon and saw 10-12 boats out there and a couple of the boats had nets over the side and doing well. We were marking a ton of fish there however we could not entice with our lures. Regards Sam

WOW...........I know an awful lot of Americans and I can not say one of them was like anything that you are mentioning. You seem to paint all Americans with only one brush in your statement. I really do not think that American's should be labeled here but in fact the only person that did commit the offense should be the one mentioned. Just like Americans think of us up here north of the border......... as Canadians are assisting terrorists and letting them into our country. Sometimes I really do not understand where people get their information from and how it gets twisted. That individual that did shoot the bear obviously did something that is not sitting well with many people in the area. he should be the one being punished not all of USA. Just my 2 cents worth. Best regards, Sam

I live right here in Belleville and I will be fishing this weekend and will probably post a report and let you know what is happening on the BOQ. I hate to be the one to inform you what equipment to use since I own a hunting and fishing store and I do not want to have anybody think that I am promoting my products. If you do not get much of a response on here (and I am confident that you will) then send me a PM and I will be pleased to assist you. Best regards, Sam

Gerritt I'm speechless....I was not aware that you lost your son and I am feeling terrible and have a pain in my heart for you. I hugged our boys good night tonight as I do each night only tonight I looked at them and felt that I would be devastated if I lost one of them and now I know how you are feeling. Hang in there and I will be thinking of you and praying for your family. Kind regards, Sam
