I bet that's the nicest looking 9" perch you ever seen, congrats. I was at a big ice tourney last year near Sudbury and the winner got a little pike but from second to 100th place were perch from 4-12", I got some nice prizes for a 7" perch, It can be tough some days. Your fish looks like it ate a 8" perch.

I went through the whole ebay selling thing, it's hard to compete with the US there as well, they can offer way cheaper shipping, don't have to change the currency etc... There are a lot of actual manufacturers that have employers to sell their products on Ebay, and they do it for slightly over cost, witch is why you can find those crazy low prices from power sellers, I'm sure there are some stolen items on ebay but I'm guessing he got a receipt and papers with his reel. However if everyone buys of Ebay there will eventually be no deals to be had.

It's customary to introduce yourself for your first post, in return you will find people more willing to give more replies to your questions. That is a great first boat or 5th boat, very nice.

I'm glad it was a good day for everyone, couldn't make it this year but hopefully next year.

I can cast a levelwind at least the same as a spinning out fit but the rod has to be balanced and set up correctly, line diameter, weight of lure and a balanced rod and reel for what your using. I assumed you were talking about musky in my last response, I'm not sure what the best reel would be for salmon, it will depend on how much line you want, what kind of line, the lures you'll be using, the weight of the reel etc..... but you can cast a levelwind as far as a spinning if you get the right one for your application.

Ah men to that. It's just as easy to have a garbage bag with you and just toss it in there instead of the ground but I guess it's to difficult for some people.

Top reels in my eyes : Callcutta Diawa Luna Abu big game 7000 Abu c3's If you've never used a baitcasting reel It's not hard to learn, #1 rule put you're thumb on the line a mili second before the lure hits the water to stop a birdsnest other than that you will always be playing with the knobs for the best cast on each bait but that is easy as well, you'll get the hang of it in no time. If it was my first casting reel, I would probably rather get 2 or 3 Abus for the same price as that callcutta instead, when you think you need the top quality you can get it later but 2 or 3 Abu Garcias would probably last longer than 1 Callcutta even 1 Abu could last longer and you would have more options with more reels, or just get one cheaper reel and see if you like it first, It's always good to have a couple anyway.

Damn I forgot how much good fishing gear is. No' but that's a great set-up and warranty, you'll fall in love with that one. Just a thought for you, I got my first wood handled rod 2 years ago and I can feel a jig or lure bounce of each pebble or anything it touches, and the red cedar used you can't even tell the difference in weight it's still super light and far more sensitive than cork. Just think of the vibration you get when you hit a wood baseball bat, now I'm getting all my rods with wood handles. I have a sensitivity problem when it comes to walleye. P.S. I think you went over your 100-$200 budget.

My grandpa use to blast them around his dock all the time but he went by the old rules, you know' when there weren't any.

That's good that it's a honorary system, because honestly if you get a nice fish out by yourself sometimes it's hard to get the tape and everything in a photo if you want to get the fish swimming again as soon as possible.

That's good news for everyone involved. Does JR have mafia ties. Sobeyes upped there original offer by double, good on them.

You could - the sleep=more fish sometimes. Eat, Fish, extra Tim Hortons

Hahah, I wonder if it's like fish though, the bigger ones don't taste as good and some times inedible if there to big.

Nice pics Pigeontroller. Like the guys said, let the fish calm down in the water, remover all the hooks in the water and then get your quick picture.

I too would rather purchase in Canada, but with internet sales, I always find better deals in the US on pretty much everything and they are not hard to find, after shipping, duties, brokerage fees and whatever else they add on it's still worth it. The only time I do stay in Canada is when the warranty is an issue.

Nice one ccmt, if you start getting bows like those ridiculous shore walleye were in trouble.

WELLINGTON (AFP) - A New Zealand fishing boat has landed what is believed to be a world record squid weighing an estimated 450 kilograms (990 pounds). ADVERTISEMENT The gigantic sea creature is about 10 metres (33 feet) long and about 150 kilograms heavier than the next biggest specimen ever found. The fishing vessel San Aspiring was long lining in the Ross Sea near Antarctica, and the squid was dining on a hooked toothfish when it was hauled from the deep. "He just appeared as a great, big, dark shape coming out of the depths. He was wrapped around a 30-kilogram toothfish and he was just munching away on it," the ship's captain, John Bennett, told AFP Thursday. "We stopped hauling the line and got it alongside the ship, and we decided it was really in too poor a condition to release, so we decided we would get a cargo net around it and lift it aboard." Bennett said the squid probably latched onto the toothfish at a depth of 1,800 metres. He said it was "about the size of a small car", but although it had been estimated at 450kg Bennett believed that would be at the high end. New Zealand Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton, who announced the catch, said the colossal squid (mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) had been frozen and would be preserved for scientific study. "It is likely that it is the first intact adult male colossal squid to ever be successfully landed. "The scientific community will be very interested in this amazing creature," Anderton said, describing the colossal squid as "as one of the most mysterious creatures in the deep ocean." Colossal squid are found in Antarctic waters and are not related to the giant squid (Architeuthis species). Giant squid also grow up to 12 metres, but are not as heavy.

I know the area well, that area they closed gets a heavy drift/wind they used to close it all the time in that same spot. Your son should be O.K. finding the other road cause there's only a couple in the beach. Thery are probably pulling up as I write this, they will be fine. -
Nice tail pinch to get that extra 1/2 inch. jk. Nice one.

That's amazing how things change so quick just hours away, nice pictures. I almost hit a black bear in my boat last year, thought it was just a tree stump cause I could just see his head bobbing, they are awesome swimmers, again very nice report.
