  1. They don't care about lefties. Cool links guys (where have I been this is old news), I wouldn't mind trying one out for a day.
  2. Got a Cabela's spring catalogue in the mail today and drooled all over it and seen this, I think I'll wait for a few years of reviews before I take the plunge in this one, what's next ? a personal robot to fish for you while you sip a cold one ? $499 US
  3. Seen this over a CNN.
  4. I've herd many stories of huge muskies in the spring and fall, if you go to local tackle shops along Hwy #69 they have some pictures of fish you never see on the net that are just huge like this one but they are caught by guys that don't really musky fish and have no need to weigh or measure the fish but I bet they start musky fishing after a nice ski...lol. It just makes me wonder how big they get in the bay, I don't think 70lbs + is out of the question, there's so much water that probably hasn't even been fished and the musky fishing pressure is low but it's getting more popular every year so I think something huge will turn up soon.
  5. Not quite the French, right in front of my sisters 40 min south of the french in the Bay. Don't pm me for the spot....
  6. Congratulations you lucky summa bow itch.. Like the others said figure out what species you want to catch and go from there, or if you only want trophies than the last day they are open would be the best.
  7. I hear ya Brick, I made a couple myself they are better weighted like that sometimes, or I made some that are evenly weighted down the whole shaft that work better for trolling them.
  8. My girlfriends don't last long enough.. But my mom and sisters make me take them out fishing....Man I wish I could trade in 3 sisters for one brother. Anyone wanna trade ? lol.
  9. Bly don't be surprised if you pull one in on that little shore spot you have one day. My first 2 muskies ever were both caught on worm-harnesses fishing walleye, that's what got me started. And the Canadian record (the real world record IMO) caught by Ken O'brian was caught walleye trolling with a little rapala.
  10. I was talking to my neighbor that owns a lodge/guide service and the local bait shop and he had this pic. The fish was caught walleye fishing here on the bay, he says it's the biggest fish hes seen in the 40+ years hes fished and operated on the bay. I wish there were some more pics to see the whole fish, but it was a accidental catch and released quickly, I don't want to speculate on the size but will be looking for the little girl this year. Is it just me or do Walleye fisherman catch the biggest musky ?
  11. Yup, some people buy mono for the cost and think the braid is to pricey, but the braid will be cheaper in the long run when your still using it 6 years down the road.
  12. That's a good charity. Nice job helping the little pup.
  13. Top one Grandman/Jake two below it look like Cobbs gliders, fire perch one is a suick, bucktail, the other two not sure.
  14. That's good nice 1, I like those tourneys I placed top 50 in the three I have went too and the same thing happened with the last finishing spot getting a very nice prize. Last one in Sudbury finished 44th with a 5" perch at the buzzer.
  15. Nice fish, That's funny I did the same thing last spring and got my rod back with a heavy spoon before I had to go for a polar bear dip. Looks like a murder scene on CSI with all that splatted DNA over the snow.
  16. You could get a portable power pack from canadiantire they are always on sale, usually have plug sockets and lighter sockets and booster cables. I never leave home without one, they have helped me in the boat and car even powered my TV and DVD player for 4 hours when the hydro goes out.
  17. I have a Bimini top and have only used it once, tops get in the way for casters, sometimes I wish I had a full top for Oct, Nov, Dec. Do they make small tops that cover a single console ? I thought about getting a custom top made that just covers a single console sorta like a little 1 man portable ice hut, I think it would sell good if it hasn't been invented yet.
  18. There are a lot up this way, from Parry Sound to Sudbury along hwy #69, not sure about a 12" boat for those real windy days but I fished in a deep 14' almost every day for 5 years on the bay without problems, obviously not out in the open water but most places inshore. Sturgeon bay park, killbear provincial parks are real close to me and people seem to enjoy staying there with trophy fish opportunities. killbear Sturgeon Bay
  19. Picture perfect rainbow, nice one.
  20. Nice report, l bet the dog had the best time though.
  21. Here are a few I made recently, more for musky than pike though...
  22. Hey at least the Walleyes only 22lbs 9oz now instead of 25lbs.....
  23. I was looking for the Walleye, is that the 25lbs one from Tennessee ?
  24. I had a president, lasted 1 season until all the bearings seized up, even after I took it apart and lubed everything it didn't come back to life same thing happened to another 10bb reel, so I tend to stick with no more than 6bb, they are smooth while they last.
