It was a nice morning to get out buddy . Also great to see ya out there. Need to check windy, and see where I,ll be launching Saturday morning .
-
Here in Barrie,we had a light wind day and sun to get out on the tinny . Nothing but wind and rain since my last outing . Been waiting to get out to try a few new high hook baits I tied ,while hunting for some whities . Water temps are still cold, 54 deg,so just hoovered in the 40-20 fow range . Marked a few whities, but nothing taking . Lots of perch around ( no real size ) but, they were smashing the high hooks . That is all I really cared about . Knowing the baits were working . The fuzzy blood is more geared towards the ice season, but did take a few,but the mayfly larvae variant, was the out right winner this morning . They would just go up and snatch on . Some guys just need to be right on ya .

2025 Fishing trips - Where are you going?

Where the wind blows,,,,,,,,,,,,,, -
Sorry, I should of been clearer Chris . The back bench seems close to the transom, which makes steering the electric hard . The balance is fine, but sitting in the middle bench would give me more space. Looking forward to many pleasurable outings.

Most know I have been a toon guy for the past 10 years or so . After many air leaks and then the big blow out last year, I had enough and decided I would either go yak or a small tinny . Put out a , ISO either a yak or tinny, but nothing crazy priced . Got a response from a local Barrie guy about a 12 ft light tinny . Went and had a look see . It was just what I needed. Light , deep and easy to handle . Fits in the back of the Ram and will be there til the notty is unfishable in the fall . First on the agenda will be whitie opener here on Simcoe . Maybe a laker chase or 2 . Then I want to fly fish for some bass and what not all summer . Then the fall salmon and bow runs on the notty . Powerd only by electric motor that I have had for a few years now from fisherman . It pushes this tin banger to almost 4mph . Made sure all was good and now ready for next weekends opener . After thoughts of needed things . A clamp on seat base . I have a nice folding padded seat still from my toons along with strong oars aswell . Bench seats are low and hard on the knees . Maybe an extendable handle so I can sit on the middle bench . Hard to steer the electric from the back bench . Nice to be back in the game for $300 . 😃 Simple man, simple float boat .

I was out 5 x,s before the deep snow. I walk and my knees will not allow me to walk through that mess we had,as short of a walk it is . Past 2 season were, warm temps, sketchy ice, this season, good ice,way to much snow and slush . Am I giving up,hell no, there is always next season. As for my equipment when heading out well, KISS . A good push smitty, pop up hut,heater,3 bottles of heater fuel ( I LIKE TO STRIP DOWN ) Auger, finder and 2 sticks. Pocket radio and thermos of java.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Sell my ties on the side . I have a few finders laying around. Wonder if I would need them all .

If your attending, be sure to stop by and check out my work and say howdy . Date March 30th is getting here faster and faster .

Was my way of making sure tour day was grand bud. Now if I had only remembered how to get to the 2nd line my first try. 😆. Been many years since I had been down that way.

Reading and hearing, that many are stuck and leaving their machines to get back to shore today. Reports of 4ft of snow and 6ft drifts. A year when we get ice, mother nature goes and throws a huge curve ball . This snow is alot of weight which many do not understand. . Cracks in the ice will allow water to seep through and creat slush, which you will not see til yer on it and that there, ends yer travels.

Well,I was able to hook up with our member this morning ,as he was fishing with an outfitter on the 2nd line. Met up with him and handed over a whole new batch of baits . Canada post, nor wind nor blowing wind and low vis, will stop the loony bin bugs and grubs guy ,from getting to those that want. Well, to a limit 😆. It was a nasty morning, but it was a day that was special, so I made the extra effort to make sure the day started off well . Must be the newfie in me byes.

Well, I do not know whats going on with Canada Post these days . I have had two shipments not get to it,s destination. One being for a member here. As always,I send a picture of the package to confirm the right address is written on the package before mailing out . This really bothers me,as I take it personally when this happens . Canada post is something else.

Glad you had an enjoyable day Cliff with your son . That blood worm has been a hit with many anglers this season. Sold out right now and hope to have my supplies here soon to catch up on new orders that just keep coming in. Funny how a season of ice, gets everyone in a buzz. Thank you again for reaching out and supporting my adventure.

Thanks again big guy. Have a day out there. 👍

Stelar buddy .

If whom you are talking about Steve, Fred, I believe he past a few years back . He was the guy that did the decoy fish carvings.

Knowing the 2 ole fellas that started the Simcoe bug way back. Ole George and Pat Mahony, they are legends . When I first met both of them, they would have a bell sinker on the bottom of their lines with a few bugs above . When they hooked up,they reeled up and just dropped the fish on the ice or in a bucket and gave them a shake. Bugs just popped out of the mouth. The were running the bugs barbless. Never once did I ever see them have to grab a fish .
-
I was thinking of you Bill . If I had caught a whitie, they would of been froze up for ya .
-
😆 Yesterday was my first outing on the ice here . Lots of bait, no whities . Was getting lots of tag hits on my larger blood worm for whities, so this morning, I tied up some smaller ones for the high hook . They worked great. Just enough bait to chow down on for a lunch snack. So so scrumptious 😋 20250125_082331.mp4

I remember at the Barrie launch,Terry and I came in. 2 boats trying to get on their trailers. Well you know us,no time for that. Terry gets the truck, pulls in between them both . I drive up on the trailer, and we gone. LMAO
