Great picture TJ, thanks for sharing. I don't know, is that a reflection of what the Deer population is like in the Kawarthas? If it is, then that shows that maybe the regs need to be adjusted by the MNR? If the deer population is that badly out of whack then what is the over all situation like? I live in Vaughan and I know that the heard behind my house is multipling big time. As a NON HUNTER I think that the season has to be looked at and the tag draws and controlled hunts also have to be re-evaluated. FLEX

I have also had very good results with the Cosco / Kirkland brand. My guy eats it and the vet even recomended it a we were buying it the first time I started up a discussion with a lady that was buying 3 bags, she is a breader and a trainer and gave it a big thumbs up. FLEX

Do not think twice buy the best reel you can afford, and make sure to buy some spare spools for it that way you can get a number of different lines on it and make the reel as versitile as possible. I have a reel that is still my go to reel and the reel is now 35 years old, DAM QUICK, and ask any body what they think of the old Zebco Cardinals 3, 4, these are reels built for a life time of fishing. And again buy a longer rod, nothing under 7' once your budget improves then you can start going into the specialty rods, and once you get to this stage good luck as their will be no such thing as disposible income it will be sucked up on the toys. No Stoty this was not meant as a joke - and no response has been issued to state that, so that does justify these responses. Nobody is arguing that the Ganny is a ZOO, but insulting a whole Continent of " mostly " honest hard working people should not be tolerated and or allowed! If the post stated what you just did "No matter if your white, brown, blue, purple or pink...Port Hope is a zoo, and its really annoying!", that would have been fully understandable and agreable too, and recieved a completly different response, and their would have been no need to lighten up FLEX - John

Zebco – read ,my post my point is not to single out a whole continent and unless you are a true native your roots are of immigrant nature also, and if we investigate what came here and where it came from we will find that most of it was 1. From Europe and 2. Again “ most” of it was the undesirables and prisoners thieves and un desirables that basically had the choice of prison death or the New World. I am not on a pro immigrant rant here I am on an anti racist and ani bigotry rant; treat each case on its own merit. Both my son and I are active members of Trout Unlimited to the point that I am on the executive committee and we both go out and do what we can to support TU and the whole environment from planting trees in the rain to streamside rehab and yes to picking up garbage also. RAF – if that shot was directed at me, no problem I will handle any and all comments so in this case you are sadly mistaken I do get out as much as I can but unfortunately a Canadian almost killed me in a car accident so heath and kids have taken a big bite out of my free time but I still put on a lot of miles and Kilometres on my truck and I do get out to the Ganny, she is in the top 5 rivers that I have the pleasure to fish. Any other shots can be addressed to me as I will be happy to stand my ground or PM me. FLEX - John

Stan, These guys are world famous, they have set the bar as far as I know, in comparing their price I do not know as I have not been in a position to even look at having anything done in years. I have attached the link for them, give them a call and I am sure that they will be able to give you all the info you need. Good luck to Mr. Mackie, I hope that a solution can be worked out BUT he did not follow the process and the fact that it is HIS LAND does not entitle him to do what he wants. Considering that his livelihood has been affected and he has been fighting this since 2002, one would think that a viable solution can be made and additional safty tools can be implemented to make the other parties more at ease. Little Angler, Cockapoo is what we ended up with, the wife and kids wanted a small dog I wanted a big dog he is a happy medium. He is the best and he is also extremly smart, that comes from the poodle side he loves everybody and he is also right in your size range - Cockapoo 10 to 15 inches 12 to 20 pounds. They are non alergic and such good dogs that when we got ours my brother in law fell in love with him and a week later we went and got his brother so we have both dogs in the family and the boys visit each other regulary and it is great when some body wants to go on holidays. As a long time dog lover and owner, the second choice .... distant would be a Schnazure good dogs smart hard headed hey it is a terrier. I would stay away from the Jack Russels as they require too much attention and the only way that i know how to keep a Jack happy is by adding a second one, it is not non alergic and they shed. Good luck, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockapoo FLEX - John

Help please, looks like I am going to go to Punta Cana as my parents want to go some place warm and at 81 and 75 they need some help. Last year my sister went so I guess that I will have to suffer and leave my wife and kids at home and go . I have never thought about this, but I am thinking that I will couple of rods and some tackle down with us and try to do some shore fishing with my dad in the mornings but I have no idea as to what to bring as in rods and reels and tackle, help please! Also what should I be spolling the reels with? Any suggestions will be really helpful, oh and know I could do a charter but I dont want to do that. Help please, Thanks you, FLEX - John

Once again guys thanks for the input. Kemper, the Raven that you buy did you buy new or used? FLEX- John
-
Thanks for the feed back, okay let me be more specific, is the Raven and the Islander like 50 dollars difference in cost? The Raven around 300 and the Islander about 350? If this is a case which one would be the one to look at? I do not plan on spending any more than I have to to get a good reel that will last me. Billm when you say keep up with the maintenance on the Streamside what exactly are you refereing to? Thanks guys, FLEX - John

Thanks, but I think that with my vest and jacket I have anough pockets for! All I am saying with a zipper and cold hands you can and you will scrape your hands on the zipper sooner than later! FLEX - John
-
Why make them with a zipper? You would be putting your cold hands into the hand warming pocket and first you have to get the zipper open and then you have to be carefull not to scrape your hands on the zipper. As was said already, get some gloves. FLEX - John

Okay foalks, all the recent posts regarding Float Reels has made me want to go out and buy one, now the question is what to buy. I want to buy a good reel as I know that a good reel makes a heck of a difference and a good reel last my go to reels are 30 plus years old and I have had them since new. So I want a good reel but not sure what I should be looking at spending, do I go Raven do I go Islander if so what should I be expecting to pay for it? Help please, Thanks - FLEX - John
