  1. +6 Saturday and Sunday, gonna be loads of slush I guess....
  2. Thanks for the reminder, just checked the regs. That changes everything....Gotta chase crappie I guess, many perch in there?
  3. Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone has any info regarding fishing conditions on Pigeon Lake, near Big Island (north end)? Haven't fished the lake in 20 years, remember catching a few pickerel. Imagine there are crappie and perch too? How's the ice right now?
  4. Any tips for dealing with condensation with these propane heaters? Noticed quite the buildup in my popup using a coleman stove...
  5. This is a great answer! I fully agree.
  6. Hey bud, had a female wheaten for 13 years and wouldn't think twice about getting another one. Incredibly energetic, great with kids and fairly protective of the owner/property. She loved to chase and catch small rodents, had no problem travelling in a vehicle and was fairly healthy throughout her entire life (had a major incident when she tried to jump across a freshly poured foundation with exposed rebar, haha). She was fairly quiet too, really only barked when we pissed her off or someone she didn't know approached the house. Actually small rodents got her worked up too, haha. If my memory is correct, we got her from a breeder in Drumbo.... If you've got any questions, ask away!
  7. 'cause the big fish always gets away?
  8. Hey Ron, I know this might seem absurd, but you need to contact your local municipal representative about this. See where they stand; your argument seems logical and right, but lots of people wear blinders when it comes to small issues like this... And also remember (from my limited knowledge of the Ontario court system) that even if you are found guilty in your local court, you can always try to appeal. Use legal-aid if needed.
  9. Yeah, don't now if we'll have access to snowmobiles or quads, but I found out what lakes he is near. The house is on Goodfish Lake and he says we're near Gami, Dorothy, Netty, Gull and Labyrinth Lakes....don't know if that rings a bell for anyone, heh.
  10. Ok thanks for the help guys! What was the avg. ice thickness? As soon as I know I'll shoot you a PM. Cheers
  11. Hey everyone, have a chance to head up to Kirkland Lake this week for some ice fishing. Problem is I've never been to the area, I guess we're staying right on a lake near town (don't know which one yet) so I'm wondering if anyone has some tips for the area. Anyone know what the conditions are like? Any good tackle shops?
  12. Nice! I should start fishing for bass, with my lanky arms those fish would be twice the weight!
  13. Yeah I love going there in the spring for 20#+ cats...the edge of his marina brings you into casting range of the deepest parts of the river... There is lots of parking and he's always had bait (minnows and cut) each time I've been there...there's also a very functional tackle shop...
  14. Ice was 4 inches in some places, 6 in others. That was second week of January though. Yeah, caught fish right off the bottom with tipped spoons. Williams, krocs, pimples. Had no luck with tip-ups....
  15. Eh bud, here's where we fished last time I was there. Directions are from downtown Toronto. Map Drive to the very end of Manley Road...you'll see an opening where there's a boat launch, probably some other trucks/cars too. Just walk straight out from the launch about 750m and you'll hit 18 ft of water. Doesn't get much deeper than that around there. If you head about 1000m due east from that location you'll hit a shoal that might be productive. Cheers
  16. They were there last year...would basically bite an empty hook!
  17. hahaha, you serious? the tens of thousands that are now at the bottom of our lakes....wicked!
  18. Yeah, we're mainly looking for a new lake/area to check out. Nipissing is massive and has lots of great outfitters, but I wonder if the same is true for smaller lakes in the region?
  19. Hey everyone... As the title suggests I'm in the process of trying to find an outfitter for some early 2010 ice fishing. Last year we spent a few days on Callander Bay; despite that being our introduction to the sport, we did manage to catch a few fish, haha. I like to think that our skills have vastly improved so we're looking for another great lake/outfitter to check out. Our range is probably about Sudbury (coming from Niagara) but it all depends on our options... cheers...
  20. Heading up to a friends cottage this weekend and I'm just wondering if I'll be able to find some pickerel on the Severn between Sparrow and Lake Couchiching?
  21. Probably looking for this video? http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=890_1246374233
