    Macro Pics

Love your macro shots! It's always fun to stop and admire the tiny things around us! One trick I have learned in Photography class is meter readings. If a picture is too bright in the background and it's too dark in the foreground , find a spot in the middle (between the brightest and Darkest point) take a meter reading there By holding the shutter button down half way Then reposition your composition the way You like and press the shutter button down rest Of the way. Then you'll end up with a photo not too bright and not too dark. Hope that doesn't sound too complicated. Easier done then said.

  11. For those who have planted aquariums what do you do when your plants reach the top of the tank and start to bend and go across the top of the water surface blocking other plants from recieving light? 1) Yank them out from thier roots and cut a good chunk off from the bottom and re-plant it ? 2) Cut the plant in the mid section and re-pant the top. And watch the other have grow into two plants ? 3) Toss the plant out ? Here's the tank. It's Basically the water sprite growing so fast. I have no CO2 system and no substrate just good old fine gravel. But the roots have taken hold of the gravel bed and the sponge filter. I plan to burry the sponge filter with plants. Only wish my Java fern and crypts would grow as fast as the water sprite. There are fish in there too. Just not as much. Will be slowly introducing them. Whenever they go on sale. So any suggestions on the over grown water sprite? Thanks, karper
  12. I personally like Polar Express !! I think it was very well done. I watched it 3D in Imax and it was awesome and funny. karper
  13. What is this thing? I saw it hiding behind my sponge filter 60. I never exspected seeing something like this in my tank . All I have in the tank is lots of aquatic plants and 4 cardinals and 4 harliquin ras, 2 otto cats. It must have grew up in there cause I never noticed it at all. Here's another pic. It was really strange. Cause when I saw the thing it moved behind the sponge filter as if noticed I seen it. The really creepy part was after I removed it and put it in the glass tube. I looked at the sponge filter again and saw another one move in and take the exact place where the first bugger was. Can it a dragon fly larva? If it doesn't harm my cardinals or any other fish it can stay. Also if it does tranform and become a land dwelling creature. Any ideas? I tried searching online but did find exactly what I was looking for. Its about an inch long. Thanks for you help. karper
  14. I have briefcase full of VHS dating back when Al Linder was with the informative show called In-Fishermen. All documentries on pike, location, habitat, seasonal movements and how weather effects them their field of vision etc.. I bought them all as part of my In-Fishermen Video Library. I plan to convert them over to DVD format on DVD's some day when ever I can find a good DVD/ VHS Combo so I can transfer them in their clear quality. They have been only watched once !! Like to keep them in their perfect condition until I record them on DVD's. Species on VHS Pike Bass Walleye Muskie Panfish dsn
  15. Police confirm a body has been found in the water off Centre Island's pier. The body appears to have been in the water for several days. There's no word on the name or gender of the person. Police have been searching for a 35-year-old man who disappeared in the water off Cherry Beach on July 17. The man was on a boat with friends when he fell into the water and didn't resurface. 16. Where are all the live bait and tackle store left in the GTA? The only one I know of is on Jane and below the 401. Opposite of Maple Drive. Is there any others that out there that don't know of? Thanks karper
  17. This year has been a weird year for me. Normally I'd be all over them by now. Every year I would start off for carp at Humber Bay ponds but this year there wasn't anything in those ponds Some folks said that they all died. That would have been a great place for you to start off your first catch. Because that's all there is in those man made ponds. Stocked with with carp. Once you figure out how the fish takes your bait you'll know they when they hit and where ever you go they all hit thea same way. I'm still in search for some car action even tho it's tough now into the season of hot weather. They usually just float on the surface not willing to go for any bait including corn when no rain is in the forcast. Only ground bait will stir them up now. karper

    Simcoe laker.

Wow... I'm glad to see they still have monsters in there. The past few years I only see smaller lakers when I go ice fishing there. Thought there wasn't anymore monters in there. Glad to see the fishery is still thriving. karper.
  22. What's you're favorite food to grill on the bbq? So far here's what I have done... Start a fire.. Done the burgers. Done the pork chops but not a big steak . Might give it a try. I know you have to marinade the steaks first. So I'm lost there. Not much of a steak eater. I have done some ribs. Not alot, which I will be doing it again. Since it wasn't enough for everyone. yummy. The chicken, I'll be doing sometime this week. . Summer... only so much one can grill. Yeah, I bought a new grill this year. . So let see some mouth watering pics and if you have some great ideas or recipes by all means share your ideas with the rest of us hungry, drooling folks who are reading this post ? Or am I the only one? karper.
  23. As for the little lady and son part.... I would never forget them. I would just bring back a little something when the weather is nicer, to show an appreciation for what she had done !! Who knows, if she didn't wave you down what could have happened. Not too many nice people in the world. Those you come across.. I would definately show a real sense of appreciation. They will be your friends for life !! karper
