  1. Holy! That's amazing! Congrats on the new PB Bly! It sure does look to be heavier than 22 pounds. Are you sure Cliff isn't trying to take advantage of this opportunity by weighing your fish in at 5 pounds lighter so that it would be more attainable to beat? Cliff, you should watch her, check her pockets. There may be a tube of something that she may rub on your lures from here on in. I think my girlfriend has rubbed A535 and Anusol all over mine so that I can't challenge her 2 big Musky. Great job again!
  2. I have been looking for that pickerel all over the place. He's been avoiding me like positive and negative. I have been trying to contact him, leaving voice mail, email on his blackberry. I even went to his house and knocked on the door ... Nothing is working. The next time you see him, tell him that Disco is looking for him. I have a few words for him. Pesky. Pesky is right. He owes me all the money I have spent trying to recently find him. Sorry about the Musky. Try switching to Pickerel rigs if the musky tackle are doing opposite.
  3. True friends and there for each other. Moments like your fishing trip is what life is all about, and how much we should all value it. Thanks for sharing the warm hearths, and the importance of friendship. It is amazing how strong people are.
  4. Congrats to you PB, nice looking fish. It pays off to finish the day with something rewarding. Good on ya to keep persistent. Really nice picture of the release. Looks like the water is unusually clear. Good job!
  5. Great report! The pictures you have taken captures all the words to describe your vacation, and some nice fish to talk about. Sorry about the pickerel. I had the same problem with them on my recent 2 week vacation. You are right about that lake, I'm surprised I still have my butt attached to my body after zipping over all that lumber. Good to hear that you saved your prop, and everything attached. Hope the run into Jack Sparrow was a friendly one.
  6. Awesome job again! You are going to need a set of pontoons to stabilize that canoe if you are catching fish like that, and float bags to keep you above the water line! Congrats! I love fishing from the canoe. Very natural experience.
  7. Wow! One of the more creative reports I have read on this board. Fantastic job. You have illustrated that the sport of fishing is pure and fun. Oddly and surprisingly enough, some people end up losing the purity of what the sport is all about. I love youthful (in a great way) and Innocent policies and approaches, especially when you can apply it in a way you have displayed. Thanks for the great read. Loved it. Make sure BBR doesn't get too attached to the yellow smiley character. It looks like he depends on it in a rather shocking manner. Keep an eye on him, soon he may start getting into the habit of working late hours at the office. That's when you know there is something else. Disco
  8. At least the weather treated you nicely out on the lake today. Going to be fantastic weather to work on the dvp. Can you please smooth out the one bump that spills coffee all over me every morning on my way to work? I'm running out of shirts! Hehe. You guys do a good job. Nice bass btw.
  9. Hey SP, my wishes to your friend Kareem. Keep strong for him. Stay with the best memories to ease the hard times. My best regards
  10. If I had crossed the border, my luck might have changed along with the interpreted name of Pickerel to Walleye. Something about the blue Pickerel in that lake. They have the yellow ones all confused and swimming out of style. I will take your advice. Every time H2 looks over, I'm either picking my nose, scratching my arse, staring at the clouds, or farting. Her commitment and mannerism seems far more advanced hence her capacity to stay more focused while fishing. Flatulence can cause negative vibrations at the end of the braid which interrupts the natural frequencies of the lure. I may never learn. See note above. This explains why we are not yet married You are right about how beautiful the lake is. If I didn't have a cottage that lake would be my pick, and I have been on many. Hands down. Shhhh!!! With comments like that my gear will end up at Play It Again Sports! We would have had more luck casting into the woods and hooking into a bear where we stayed. 4 separate hunting parties had our area baited since May that surrounded our perimeter. Bears every day and night. In an safe sense we kept "fish scent" free! Nothing like frying a fish over the fire in Rocky Madsen at night with the bears waiting eagerly in the tree lines for you to serve it up on the plate. <shiver> That's just asking for trouble. Thanks to all for your comments! Good luck with your next outing!
  11. I just finished a 2 week vacation, and the fishing was tough. We stayed away from the cottage in Parry Sound so that we could explore new territory. We spent 9 days on Wahwashkesh, and caught only 1 Pickerel during that time. The Lakers just slapped our jigs and spoons, telling us to go home. The bear hunt had the camps full, and they had their pickerel tournies during the days of their hunt. 20 guys at a nearby lodge had their guns and quivers loaded, but all must have forgot to spool line on their reels because not one guy in that party had boated a Pickerel by their last day. Tough week. H2Whoa's 3 pound pickerel was apparently worth 400 dollars to them! I spent some time after on the Bay Of Quinte in and around Telegraph Narrows, Big Bay and long reach, and it was the same story, no Pickerel. No Lakers, 1 Pickerel ... bass and small pike don't make this list. The first 2 weeks of september was bad for me, but everyone else around here caught fish then!! and I still have to catch up with everyone's accomplishments here during that time. I think it was some Heebie Jeebies that followed me around. The Last day of vacation seemed to be more rewarding. We managed to find these. Mine was a tad shy of 40". H2's ... well, it was big. She has me beat again. Her last 47" wasn't as heavy as this fish, this one had girth to it. The fish swam off with lots of strength, because we got them in and out in record time on the heavy trolling fenwicks using zig zag patterns into the wind. Good luck out there! Disco Phish
  12. I think that the Wawa smoke would have dissipated over Huron before it reached Sudbury, if the winds were from the north. I haven't yet heard of any fire, so I will assume that all is well on the lake. Thanks for the heads up. We will be back again to Wawashkesh for a week trip. Fishing is tough on that lake. Hopefully we can get into some laker action if we get the riggers on the boat in time.
  13. Awesome report. It's good to read about all the various methods you used. It wasn't us that was slinging the rocks at you, but we were on the lake when you were on. Same as you, small pike and bass. For the life of us we had a VERY hard time locating the pickerel. What's with that lake? Once we did, do you think they would bite? Nope. The main bowl went down to 167 feet, but nothing around the edges. We were scratching our heads until we got home. We kept of the shorelines and fished the mid structures. Surface temps were warm at 71. Thanks for the great read! Disco Phish
  14. Great report! Just like home! You guys obviously had a blast! Some cold nights, eh? I spent my entire life on the Magnetawan system throughout cottage seasons. Love it! The system is beautiful, even when the water is at low levels. It must have been terrible to pass the boat through many sections. When the river is at higher levels, the paddling becomes almost world class. It's easy to make a fatal mistake. I severely dislocated my shoulder while white water kayaking upside down in a wave in a section a little east of hwy 69. Managed to paddle a couple km's with one arm downstream to the highway, drive 30 km's, and stopped to have an ambulance take me to Parry Sound. Did you come out at Harris Lake? That's a massive smallmouth! At what section of the route did you notice the smoke? Did my cottage catch on fire?!!!! Disco Phish

  16. When you find that moment in your life when you start bringing fish home and introduce them to your parents, walk to your bedroom and close the door with fish in hand ... then you got a problem. I lived at the cottage throughout the summers in grade school, and the fishing rod was my 3rd arm. Still is. Keep up with the studies, because you will find it will get you the boat and tackle, and your vacations to use it.
  17. Tigers coexist with the purebreds in those waters. Definitely not a Tiger, their stripes are very prominent and as PT described them, they have a relatively squared tail, unlike the the "Acura" Tail of the purebreds. Would have been my first Tiger ... too bad it wasn't. Thanks for all the compliments!
  18. Wait one sec ... that fish is smiling too! All it needs to do now is wink. Excellent!
  19. If you start off in Lefroy there is a public boat launch there, with a parking lot just up the street. You should park in the designated parking lot. Work south past the first point on the West side, and find that 15 foot break contour. Follow it south into the bay until you lose it. Not sure where the perch are hanging out, but I was fishing between snake and fox island in 55 fow bouncing jigs on the bottom not too long ago, and caught a couple. Took me by surprise. Never caught perch that deep before. Good luck!
  20. Hey TB, H2 and I will be joining a group at Six Mile this weekend. If you see this boat there, don't hesitate to stop and say "Hello". Good luck with the fishing, and have fun! Disco Phish
  21. What? You better hold true to those words! The last time I tried adding to my collection of 8 Fenwicks you broke one of them over my head, and stabbed me with the jagged end. My head rang for days. For the next few mornings, I woke up and left for work at places I wasn't even employed! Excellent! Le Baron's here we come! Thanks guys! <Ahem>. Who never really thought? You never listen to me do you? I told you we would catch some fish that day. And don't go trying to remember all of those long days we spent fishing in the severe storms, scorching heat, tornados, hurricanes, blizzards, and dangerous freezing temps when I promised you that we would catch fish, but didn't. That never happened. Nope. If in fact it did actually happen, I don't remember.
  22. I am fortunate to be invited to a friend of a friend's cottage on the BOQ in September. I can't wait because it will be my first time on that water. I was taking mental notes during last falls pickerel extravaganza around here. Best of luck with great success!
  23. I fished Baptiste and came up with nothing to mention about ... of course that was no fault of the lake. Just ours! We marked huge schools of very large arcs, in many areas. They are in there in big numbers, and large sizes, both pickerel and lakers. Plenty of underwater structure for the bass and pike as well. Good luck!
  24. Awesome to see that you are having a blast with the family! The waters couldn't have offered better conditions on Sunday with the calm waters and hot sun. Scugog must have been pleasant to paddle. Take advantage while the summer still lasts! Loved your video btw. So impressive and very technical. Canada's Got Talent! It's been a while since I have been on ... I must have missed so much.
  25. Hi Craig, The trolling motor mounting plate was an easy install, but obviously the degree varies with each boat design. If you install them properly, your can get a super snug mount with the rubber lifts on carpet. I have a recommendation for you, something that I have learned just recently. Don't leave your boat at your friends place and ask them to cover the boat for you.
