  1. I believe the Frabill Float is Coast Guard approved (from what it says on the Frabill website).
  2. Could you share what make yours is and where you purchased it? Thanks
  3. Good point Akrisoner. If an angler is mostly hut oriented, a 2 piece setup makes sense. But if not a hut user, the better the protection against any wind on the lake the better. Hmmmmmm .... maybe I should get both. (i wish) Thanks for the suggestion of Nautilus.
  4. Hello Shloim. Good advice on the 2 piece option. I was leaning towards that idea for the exact reason you suggest. I've seen vid's of people in their heated huts with the jacket off but the Bib still on. So 2 pieces is the way to go. Sail has sales on now ... so I'm thinking this time of year is good time to buy ... but inventory may be poor. At least at Sail I was able to try on their PDF jacket and even though I take a LARGE size in all my tops/jackets ... I discovered that I must get the EXTRA LARGE if a PDF jacket. So simply going to the store to try on one showed me that I'd be best trying it on first before buying and that the PDF type of clothing fits different.
  5. Hi, Got into ice fishing this past winter (finally ... have been meaning to for years but finally got off my butt). Anyhow .. for next winter I want to invest in a proper and safe Bib and Jacket. I see there are only a few PDF rated Bibs and Jackets. I see one or two on Amazon, I saw one last night when visiting Sail. I think Canadian Tire may have something as well. I wanted to get some input on what people have purchased and if they are happy with the comfort and warmth. Thanks!
  6. I went Friday night and it was great. It was surprisingly quiet between 4 and 8pm. With it being relatively quiet, it was easy to get to all the booths and check out what they have, plus talk to the vendors and get a couple questions answered. Went to the 5pm talk by the Johnston brothers and the 6pm talk by Scott Martin. Both talks were excellent. Very informative and with the smaller crowd I got time to ask questions at both of the talks.
  7. NICE! It's great to hear about the measuring, release and having an artist replica made for the wall. Truly the best way to go about it.
  8. Might find more deals at a show like this (Bowmanville Tackle Swap): https://www.facebook.com/Bowmanville-Tackle-Swap-and-Fishing-Show-844565995651188/
  9. I don't think there are any deals there. Maybe some but they may be gone by noon on Saturday. It's a great place to talk to the manufacturers and ask detailed technical questions about their products. I have found it helpful with future purchases or just gaining knowledge on the tech.
  10. Just up the road from the International Centre is an excellent burger joint called "Zets". It's been there for many years. Be sure to grab lunch or dinner there if at the show. Their burgers and Slouvaki dishes are great.
  11. I put on a channel that was running lots of comical and creative commercials as well had a great but brief 10 minute Justin Timberlake concert. Don't watch much traditional TV anymore with online and Neflix options. However ... the channel I was watching all of this on got interupted several times with short clips of some football game.
  12. Just looked it up on Amazon. Man ... those things ain't cheap! Thanks
  13. That's cool. I'm in the Kawartha's as well. What lake was that? Also ... what type of underwater cam is that? Thanks!
  14. It's a cool App. I recently purchased it for $21 for my iPhone. I loaded it with the lakes in the central Ontario area where I live/fish and it only took approx 100meg of space on the phone (not much). It looks like just the Navionics on my Helix 7 and I think there may be a way to share info between the phone and Helix or Navionics SD card in the Helix ... but I'm not sure on that.
  15. I have had a few media boxes over the years. One of the boxes I currently have is an Amazon purchase of the Android kind (like an Android smart phone) and it has the Kodi App. So it's more than just a Kodi box ... but I use Kodi the most because it is so good (I've been using it since its original creation years ago when it was XBMC). Because my Android media box is pretty much like an Android phone, I can go to the App store and install Apps. I have an annual subscription to Private Internet Access VPN. I use that on my desktop computer. On my Android media box I installed their App and typed in my credentials and BAM ... I have a private connection to one of their U.S. east coast servers. That works to give me access to the U.S. only shows that can be accessed either through a Kodi plug-in/add-on .... or by installing an IPTV App in the App store. Because I have a very poor rural DSL connection, I don't have the throughput for the VPN of TV shows to work. They don't scale well to a slow connection. I more=or-less installed the VPN and those Apps to see if they would work. Too bad, because I could get stations I don't get on our Satellite subscription plus free-to-air sations. Oh well. So I use the Kodi App to play video off my shared computers hard drive (works great for that) or the Netflix App (which scales great for my poor connection). Works well for the $60 I paid for it. 16. Went out Sat Jan 20 at sunset for a couple hours. Fish were biting. Caught my personal best. No electronics ... just jigging a foot or two off the bottom. Approx 15ft depth. Dinner was really good.
  17. The nice thing about this location is you are in town, so restaurants, bathrooms and Tim's, etc are either a short walk or very short drive.
  18. Just walk straight out from the parking lot to the huts. There are many tracks on the ice/snow already (at least there was before this warm weather and melt). It would be approx 10 min walk to the common place huts setup. The huts are typically a few hundred feet from the closest shoreline. I don't think there are any permanent huts out there at the moment. But on a weekend ... there are always a few portable huts out on the ice.
  19. This is the common spot to access one of the ice fishing spots on Chemong. It isn't a very far walk to the weed edge/drop off area many people ice fish. When we were on the ice a week ago (before the warm spell we've been having) a fellow drove by our hut in his truck. A bit risky for my liking, but he did fine. Listening to the ice constantly crack as he drove by was .... unnerving.
  20. On the area of Chemong I was on ... ice was approx 10 inches. It is a location where there isn't any current.
