  1. If you use that line (because you already have it and don't want it to go to waste sitting there I'd guess) don't fill the spool. Go about 75 to 80% line capacity.
  2. Yes, I just heard it on the radio on my way home too.
  3. nice crappie and pike!
  4. Locks open May 19th @ 9AM https://www.trentsevern.com/
  5. Well on the weekend I passed the locks in Fenelon Falls and all the work they were doing on the locks is done and they had the upper section filled up. I'd hazard a guess they should be open. Is there no number to call and listen to a recording with info?
  6. Thanks all. Still thinking on this as it's really not a needed item for me. As of right now I'm on the 'forget it' side of the fence but still not away from the idea fully yet.
  7. Maybe they made a change to it but I've never had that happen to me. But I do think next spool with be PP super slick8 again as I really like it and have it on one reel currently.
  8. Thanks Chris. This new one is a Japan made unit I understand and has been made for price point and quality. Honestly I'm fine with all the gear I have but I just have that 'itch' bugging me that I'm missing out is why I'm looking. If I can cast 5-20% farther than I do now and reel and have less fatigue doing so then I may 'bite' but if not I'm good with what I have then and can save those nickels...
  9. A metal frying pan that can take heat (remove handle) for long times here when I had mine. Wood must be soaked for a long time to not 'be a fire' but smoke and smolder. And a big drip tray between the heat and food shelves. Also works to add water in said tray to provide moisture to the meat you smoke. My last one was a gas unit so you can dial the heat in. The hot plate unit in my pic warms then cools then warms and cools... so took longer to make meals. If a steady heat all times then good to go in a decent time.
  10. So I found a new one online for $120 + tax and I like the look of it but I'm really not a baitcaster user. I can drop a lure with my spinning combo's on target or very close everytime. I just feel I may be missing out on the added function of a baitcaster should I want to pitch small to mid size baits for bass when the walleye bite isn't happening for me. Would this increase my casting distance? Easier on the hands and wrists for longer use in the day? I have a baitcaster combo but it's for trolling crankbaits. I don't want to go spend $120 + tax and then a new rod and line and never use it. How does this reel perform for those that have used it? I've seen the iCast 'selling' video and looks good but why should I go spend a few HUN$ (reel/rod/line) when I get by with what I have? Thanks all Geoff
  11. seen that coming before I even clicked to open the post...
  12. OI Brian is the main voice and well, Terry is the net man for that outing...
  13. NICE! I've only ever fished that lake 1 time from a boat (bass) and then 2 times on the ice (1x perch and 1x whitefish). Man I have to get out there in a boat for some laker action some day!
  14. Hey Fang, that looks a little like the one I made many, MANY years ago!
  15. Brine: Soy (500ML), water (2L), honey (3 spoons), sweet chili tai (1/4 jar), pinch of brown sugar and then diced jalapeno peppers. *edit to add* oh and I boil the brine and then let cool before I use it so the brine is well mixed. The wood used for smoking is key. I like apple & black cherry in the smoker together When I make a brine I keep some for a misting/spray bottle. Part way through the smoking process I'll give the fish a mist. The fish turns out super moist and not like a dry jerky. Also I don't pat it dry I put it right in the smoker after it's sat for 24hrs in the brine. My old unit had a large drip pan and I was learning at the time but if I was going to make some anytime soon that's how I'd be doing it. Big Cliff has eaten it this way and said it was great, so has young_one (or what ever name he's using now).
  16. I've never had any issues with the stealth braid
  17. Doubt it but willing to give it a go, hahaha
  18. PS: I mean hammer it full from the lights through each gear to see where the "power band" is like a birtbike
  19. Yes I may only have that but passing a group of 3 at 70kph in an 80 zone (drop to 3rd) took seconds and I was forced to slow down after the pass to try and not be speeding and ticketed down the road. Either way a fun car and by far a 'sports car'
  20. Oh I get that and I haven't checked if I have one (haha) but if I don't I'll manage as the car will be in the garage once frost hits
  21. Yeah but O-F it's now just me hence EX so no need for a 2nd ride (car/truck and pun ) The toys are neat but really going to miss the remote start in the winter BUT the heated seats will help, just not my hands...
  22. Leather in trim in the RS is nice and I did figure out how to sync my cell to the 7" display for google map's and calls and even text and email (never going to use those two). I have 3GB of free WiFi data too for 3 or 6 months so that covers mapping needs and then I save the map and use no data as far as I can tell...
  23. Same size as a focus and civic and so forth. Hence my issues with 7' 1pc rods when the kids are in it too. Zero issue when the kids are not with me
  24. I missed driving a standard car at times and now that I'm back into one not going to change till I have to! And yeah my kids were bouncing around when it kicked in or power shifting. When I was solo on the way back is where it got some 'testing'
  25. Next nice weather day Rick I'll snap a few and PM you (provided I recall to do so ) OI, this sure is a sleeper! Even the new base Honda Civic is a turbo and goes quick too. I had my car today at 70KPh and drop to 3rd to pass 3 cars and done before I needed to hit 4th gear and had to break after the pass to keep it in the law. Then put it in 5th to be fuel friendly when all said and done. Only hit 6th gear a few times so far to see what the lag is like and how much the gas ratings change. 6th will be more 100 or higher speeds based for me based on how it felt and the system read. So far out of the 550K I have put on it from city driving to 65K runs at 8oKPh most of the time the computer says my avg is 6.6L/100K. WAY BETTER than the Ram at 14/100 (on a good day) so I'm now saving annually.
