I got her an L110 today for $182.99 + taxes and she's happy! I tinkered with it and it's much better then the P&S we had/have and I'm no photo-guy so all is well, I think.

mine is OH SO CLOSE to that. 5.4 on a jitterbug at night in the same pattern. all others have not been measured due to many reasons but I think I broke that mark this year on Lake X. I will be gunning for the 7LB mark for my next target. I know I've come close to 6 or just over but no scale at the time...

That is along the line I was thinking that would make her happy. She does like the look and feel for the L110 too so I guess I better go play with one tomorrow.

I know your pissed Brian and you have every right to be. My day, well it sucked too! I woke up on time to get my train, got every red light on the way... Missed it, and the one that comes 5 min. after it. so I had to wait another 30 min. for the next one. A woman talked my ear off the whole time while waiting and on the train! I was like, shut it, I'm now in a bad mood and want to close my eyes. Got to work, nobody was happy and didn't have a great day doing what we do best. So now I have to take off early to get home to study (yeah I'm in my mid to late 30's and going back to school) for a test tonight. I get to class and the teacher looks at the room and says "good luck because if you do not pass this test I honestly don't think you will pass the course.". I think to myself, okay, I can do this... It turned out to be a time restricted test and the only thing I can say for sure is I got my name and date right on the test. That was my day... Now it's time for me to have a beer and chill...

I didn't mean "she's NOT even looking" I meant NOW she's even looking at the L110. Let's say I'm in a room with some natural light and it has 6 pot lights all on high, would the pic's still turn out so-so? For some reason she's got her mind made up on a Fuji finepix S1800 Thanks for the help here Mike and others. Geoff

Thanks Mike. She's not even looking at the L110 for the price. All she want's is to make sure that she "doesn't miss the moment" for b-days and Christmas pic's. I like the idea of hold down the button and get 20+ pic's in the few seconds so this way she can pic what she likes best.

Now her main concern is shutter speed so she doesn't miss the moment. Zoom has become second.

After taking a walk today down to Henry's and another place, I think the whole digital SLR idea just got put to rest. All I need is a camera with great zoom and the Nikon COOLPIX P100 looks like it would do just what she needs. Your thoughts on this camera or others in that price range? Thanks. Geoff

All my wife is after is a lot of zoom and good quality pic's. She thinks a SLR for $500. will give her this but I think something like the Nikon COOLPIX P100 can get her what she want's for less cash. Thoughts?

Hey all. My wife would like me to get a new digital SLR camera. Is there a good one out there sub $500? I know I'm not going to use it a whole lot as I don't use what I have now, lol. So I don't want to spend more then $500. Any ideas and places to purchase in the GTA? Thanks. Geoff

this is going to get UGLY and quick... get out and walk with one of your folks after you use google maps to find areas. then make sure you read the regulations for the area you do go to. the season is closed and or closing for some areas and fish so make sure you know what you can fish for and where.
