Public warned over 'high risk' release- NF

Maybe he likes living in Protective custody -
93 years is a pretty amazing journey... I am sure you will have many memories of her tales to share with the great grandchildren some day. And a little reminder prayer for the next few days to think about for you: "Lord make me a channel of thy peace -- that where there is hatred, I may bring love -- that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness -- that where there is discord, I may bring harmony -- that where there is error, I may bring truth -- that where there is doubt, I may bring faith -- that where there is despair, I may bring hope -- that where there are shadows, I may bring light -- that where there is sadness, I may bring joy. Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted -- to understand, than to be understood -- to love, than to be loved. For it is by self-forgetting that one finds. It is by forgiving that one is forgiven. It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life... AMEN

I drove 90 minutes for some Pike action... I am lucky in that I can get in to carp action about 5 minutes from my house in the Thames river here in London... but what fun would that be sleeping in my van in a parking lot next to the Labatt's brewery

U never know.... i am GLAD that we post pictures of guys like this. It looks like he got run out of Listowel and headed down to Harrow. Keep running boy, right in to the hands of Johnny Law... won't be long before this sicko is drinking and drugging and blows his probation... and hopefully before he victimizes another person. -
I didn't even notice that snout till u pointed it out

Well this weekend was all but a total washout.... rain rain rain and more rain. Nice to fall asleep in the back of my van with the sound of the rain hitting the rooftop though. One helluva wind for awhile Saturday night with that rain too.... it actually woke me up. Tried fishing for pike all day Saturday and a little Sunday morning. Got one small one about 20" long... didn;t bother taking a pic either.. lol On the way home, i decided to stop in to a little town and try for a carp or two... Tried the worms... no luck.... tried bread... no luck... Put 5 pieces of corn on the hook with three small splits shots on and KAPOW ! I get this one Two young kids( 12 years old) came over to my side of the river to see what I caught it on... we soon had them rigged up with corn and small hooks too, Each of them lost " the biggest fish of their life" within 15 minutes! They are hooked on corn now,, and live two blocks from this hole. Right after they left I got in to this brute ( thank goodness a family just came down to try for rock bass and took a pic for me) All in all I drove 90 minutes(each way for some pike action and only had a small reward) and then stop in 30 minutes from home and get rewarded with some carpin fun! Gotta love the tug of good sized carp :whistling: .

Police have issued a warning over the release from prison of a man they’re calling “a high-risk offender.” Ontario Provincial Police released Saturday a public warning regarding Robert Joseph VanBraeckel, 46, who has moved to the village of Harrow after trying to settle last week in Listowel. His previous criminal convictions include sexual assault, indecent assault, assault, weapons possession, unlawful entry, assaulting police, theft and a raft of driving offences, police said. VanBraeckel was recently ended a sentence behind bars and is subject to a 36-month probation period. During that itme he must stay away from weapons, drugs and alcohol. He will be reporting to Essex OPP and parole and probation officials. ....................................................................... A picture of this guy can be found on this link from the London Free Press newspaper>> http://www.lfpress.com/news/london/2010/06/05/14276396.html

that is a great way to honor your mom and her battle with a vicious disease Stoty. In times like these, I am comforted by a prayer that reminds me of my place on this earth: "Lord make me a channel of thy peace -- that where there is hatred, I may bring love -- that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness -- that where there is discord, I may bring harmony -- that where there is error, I may bring truth -- that where there is doubt, I may bring faith -- that where there is despair, I may bring hope -- that where there are shadows, I may bring light -- that where there is sadness, I may bring joy. Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted -- to understand, than to be understood -- to love, than to be loved. For it is by self-forgetting that one finds. Well, I passed the boaters exam this weekend at the Midwestern Ontario sportsman show in Walkerton. ( what else do u do when it's raining cat's and dogs and you happen to be in the neighborhood) And don;t get me even started about a license for an ELECTRIC MOTOR ! So I am now good to go with my "new to me " 12 foot tinnie. It's a little heavier than my Sportspal canoe and I may not always have someone with me to help get it on to the roof of my van. ( I made the 2x4 rails as suggested on an earlier topic) What is the easiest way to get the boat up on the roof racks without scratching the heck out of the back of the van. As a few of the guys I have fished with on the board knows here, I am not exactly the tallest guy on the dock.. lol Any help ( with pics ) is appreciated. Splashhopper

Ohio intolerant of anglers going hoggish on fish

Interesting thing about all this.... The names published don't sound at all like the "round bucket brigade" that is so often accused of this behaviour. These guys names all sound like fine "good ol boys": "The six men charged include Freelan C. Leffew, 66, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., his son, Michael Todd Leffew, 38, of Hixson, Tenn.; Freddie Warren, 63, of Wildwood, Ga.; Charles H. Burkhart, 67, of Ringgold, Ga.; Samuel J. Carroll, 65, of Ringgold, and Herbert Samuel Stephens, 58, of Soddy Daisy." :dunno: And their ages don;t suggest dumb young punks either ! THROW THE BOOK AT THEM I say . -
I love listening to the old timers that can tell good stories.... the others,, welll... it "depends"

CHATHAM -- The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources is investigating a huge die-off of rainbow smelt along much of the Lake Erie shoreline. Andy Cook, a ministry biologist in Wheatley, said samples have been sent to an unspecified university for testing. Cook said dead smelt also have washed up on the lake shoreline in both New York and Ohio. He said storms and strong winds during the weekend of May 8 may have contributed to the die-off. "We've seen it before in the 1960s and 1990s,'' he said. Cook said another possibility is stress associated with the spring spawning process. Smelt are an abundant species in Lake Erie. Last year, Ontario commercial fishers harvested more than eight million pounds. "They are an important forage fish for top predators such as walleye,'' Cook said. He recommends people wear gloves when disposing of the fish along the beach and taking the dead fish to a secure landfill site. "It's a lot of work, but it needs to be done." Cook said large numbers of dead smelt were first reported May 13 east of Port Burwell. The following day there were similar reports from Point Pelee eastward along the lakeshore. "It appears to have been a lake-wide die-off,'' he said. Cook said there was a huge hatch of smelt in 2008 and many of the dead smelt appear to be in the two-year-old range. Chatham Daily News

Interesting that you say they "re-position" the suckers when using this set up... I was wondering why I lost FOUR suckers but only saw some light twitching on the float and didn't see it go under at all
