"I think he is upset that people leave here from one side of a lake to fish the same fish that are closed." Yep, that is my confusion exactly. But, as the next post said, maybe there is a need for the reg's to be reviewed on this particular fish exspecially if they are being caught on the "same body of water". ( Ie: Lake Ontario) And how the heck would i know if I was on the US side of a BIG wave in the middle of the lake anyway?

As a newcomer to this sport, I am somewhat confused about the latest pics on the board here about all the bass being caught on the New York side of Lake Ontario. If I am in Ontario, the bass season doesn't open till the end of June due the spawning season of this fish. Do the bass in New york have a different spawning season than "our Canadian bass" do? If SO, why is that? And if NOT, why are some people proudly posting pics of bass that they have sought "out of country" then? I don't get it? Splashhopper

Now I have a pin hole in it that has sloow leak. What can I use to fix this before the weekend? (I put a pen mark on the wader where the hook got caught.) thankx

Hey 2"tone": When I lived in a "white tight assed little town" as a teenager, called Stratford Ontario, ignorance bigotry and racism was right there all the time, just under the surface. I was the kinda guy that assumed the black guy in town was the dishwasher at one of the restaurants and the chinese people owned the chineses restaurants. This is the type of "subtle" racism that exists in many small towns/cities in this country ... Take a good hard look in the mirror in "Z-71 pick up land". You see, I had never been exposed to another culture that was not of white european descent. I had NO CLUE how bigotted I really was. When i moved to Toronto for college, I had a BIG awakening. I now live in London and it is a little more civilized than Stratford, mainly due to the University and college populations here though. As a guy that is now married to a beautiful FILIPINO GODDESS(for 15 years) with a heart bigger than I could ever have deserved on my wish list, I find your ignorant post just that IGNORANT! I also have an amazing 18 and 23 yrs old step son and daughter with her and our own 10 yr old daughter because of her love for me. Here are a couple of words to think about in case you never get out of your city again: ig·no·rant Pronunciation: \ˈig-n(ə-)rənt\ Function: adjective Date: 14th century 1 a: destitute of knowledge or education <an ignorant society>; also : lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified <parents ignorant of modern mathematics> b: resulting from or showing lack of knowledge or intelligence big·ot Pronunciation: \ˈbi-gət\ Function: noun Etymology: French, hypocrite, bigot Date: 1660 : a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance rac·ism Pronunciation: \ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-\ Function: noun Date: 1933 1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race 2 : racial prejudice or discrimination .................................................................................................................................... Before you respond to this, please think about HOW your post came across to many peopel on this sight, (of all skin colours) Possibly, your INTENT was not to offend, but your ACTIONS did. God bless splashhoper and family

To the Chinese Fisher Folk on our board..
splashhopper replied to Gerritt's topic in General Discussion
reminds me of my favourite prayer: Lord, make me a channel of thy peace-- that where there is hatred, I may bring love-- that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness-- that where there is discord, I may bring harmony-- that where there is error, I may bring truth-- that where there is doubt, I may bring faith-- that where there is despair, I may bring hope-- that where there are shadows, I may bring light-- that where there is sadness, I may bring joy. Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted-- to understand, than to be understood-- to love, than to be loved. For it is by self-forgetting that one finds. It is by forgiving that one is forgiven. It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life. Amen. -

Read the regs before you fish! ( dead musky report)

To Radnine Re: >> QUOTE(steverowbotham @ May 11 2008, 07:30 PM) * but if he was to pushed in, it would be racism. It has nothing to do with race, know the regs, abide by the regs, and there will be no problems Race became an issue the minute you noticed he was of colour. If race is not an issue why bring it up? Or are you trying to say you would drown him even if he was white? I just made my last post to this "fishing" site. << ....................................................................................................................................................... As a guy living in a bi-racial marriage(Filipino) with a step daughter( and a mixed colour daughter together as well) of the same colour as the kid in the pic noted on this thread i understand your REACTION to the above noted comment by one other poster. I also saw in the same picture the little WHITE kid wearing gloves with his hands going for the same fish too. I also saw and read the media reports a while ago of some RACIAL GOOFS up in the Pt Perry(?) region "nipper tipping" asians that were fishing in the area. Disgusting behavior by a bunch of REDNECKS that was ! Now, that being said, REACTING by running away is not a very mature attitude either. A BIG challenge in print type dialogs on chat room boards is the lack of inflection and or tone in a posters intent. I know this from my own personal experience with how "I" have come across in print format before on a chat room that I actually own. It took another member or two on my own chat board that reached out to me personally to even look at my own role in my own resentment of how "others were acting". I didn't like taking my own inventory at all! lol So, Radnine,,, please re-consider your REACTION to ONE posters comment before you leave. God bless splashhopper -
Fishing with small jigs or flies under a float
splashhopper replied to splashhopper's topic in General Discussion
usually a regular float but can use a slip float if need be. -
i was in a similar situation this weekend on Saturday afternoon in blazing sun with about 3' of clarity on the water.... the hole is only about 8 deep i nthe middle with sloping edges. switched over to a "wooly bugger" tiny little jig(fly?) and WHAMOO ! FISH ON ! I also caught two on friday night between 1am amd 2 am.
-
sounds good so far.... who is gonna cut up the veggies though ? I am not bringing my wife! any more recipes ?
-
I tried a "wooly bugger" on an 6lb main line with a 4'-4lb leader and no wait or float on Saturday in a little hole i was fishing. Just jigging it up and down under a tree.. WHAMMMO! Rainbow hit it so hard I almost dropped my rod ! Lost the fish after a minute as I couldn't really tell how deep he was because I couldnt see the swivel where my mainline atttached to the leader. ( That's my excuse and I am sticking to it to! lol) Then i tried putting the little jig under the float to no avail. So i go back to the first set up and WHAMMO! Another one nails it and i just played it right out till he was done! ( fried him up on shore about 30 minutes later too) So my question is: How the heck do i fish those jigs in other spots on the river ? Under a float? Straight line and leader and weight and with some kind of marker on it? Any suggestions ( with pics) would be great. Thankx splashopper
