  1. and the thing is, The Dutch have still NOT played their best game yet, they seem to be playing just hard enough to win the game, did it in the group stage and the 1st playoff game vs Slovakia. ( 2 goals allowed in their 1st 4 games and both were off of PK's) Brazil fell apart after Holland took the lead, they have no idea how to play when they are behind (because it doesn't happen very often) Their arrogance is what did them in today.... the free kick where the goalie decided he didn't need a wall, (that's the goalies call) was a rallying point for the Dutch who looked like a different team after that. How good is Brazil? 53W 0L 2D when leading at the half in the world cup (now 1L!!)When they score the 1st goal, 50W 3L 6D (now 4L) It seems that the Dutch have their number in the world cup playoffs 2W 1L vs Brazil (yes only the 3rd time they've met) 1974 2-1 Holland win, 1998 Loss in penalty kicks and a 2-1 win today! Holland still has to get past Uraguay (Ghana totally blew it with the missed PK at the end of extra time) who are by no means a pushover to get to the final but they seem to have a much easier road ahead compared to the other side of the bracket, Spain, Argentina, and Germany are 3 POWERHOUSE teams and only one is guaranteed to get through to the semis. It will be really interesting to see who makes it through tomorrow!
  2. got it done about 12 years ago at Novacraft in London, beautiful ash gunnals I think it got around $200 if I'm not mistaken.. jjcanoe
  3. yep, had a great time out there until the monsoon hit! probably 50+ gallons of water in the boat by the time we ventured back out of the car.... My 1st fish was a smallmouth(we didn't get a pic) right off the launch about 4 casts in, we were close enough to lock the truck with the remote, funny to see the mennonite "b-trains" (for all you truckers out there) Horse, pulling a buggy, pulling a big wheeled trailer with their tinnies on it. I almost thought they would unhook the horse and use it to back the trailer down the launch!LOL jjcanoe
  4. Hope this helps... Second Depot Lake Not a super busy lake although it can be, If you're staying at the campground there are some seasonal campers that you can ask about the fishing. I've fished it once when I was camping there and seemed to do good with bass to the south and west of the island with campsites 1, 2, 3 on it, didn't have a lot of time to explore the lake though. Third Depot Lake is a short drive (or paddle) away and might be another option for you although I've never been there jjcanoe
  5. it's the matter of the 15 minute boat ride across the Niagara R. or Lake Erie or a 10+ hour car ride..... $70 for a NY license or $150 in gas each way jjcanoe
  6. If you are using live bait, besides removing the barbs, use long shanked hooks, they will give you a spot to grab the shank with forceps or pliers if they do take the bait a bit deep, rather than a small egg hook that you can't find. Aberdeen hooks jjcanoe
  7. That will never happen in the NHL due to the fact that to join the league you need to pay a massive franchise fee. This is not so in European Soccer, most of those teams have been around for 100 years or more and all have bounced around between the top league and the bottom from time to time. It's a totally different system than North American sporting leagues. BTW since 1967 the Leafs have only ever finished last once. 84/85 jjcanoe
  8. The Leafs have tried that for 40 years now and it hasn't worked. Time to try something different. Kessel scored 30 goals this year playing 2/3's of a season How many goals did the draft pick score in the NHL this year....0 Now are you going to tell me that Hall or Seguin will be way better players? possibly but they might end up like so many #1 or 2 draft picks Remember Alexandre Daigle or Alexi Yashin or Radek Bonk? All sure thing can't miss NHLers....where are they now Kessel is a proven NHL Goal scorer, draft picks are not. I would make the trade again and again(not like I had anything to do with it LOL) jjcanoe
  9. Um yes, Hartnell's shot went in off of Hossa, (own goal) jjcanoe
  10. Former London Knight, Pat Kane scores the winner after Hossa ties it to send it to OT Leafs are up next!! jjcanoe
  11. We bought a Sultan mattress from Ikea and 8 years later it has no sags or soft spots. the price was WAY cheaper than all of the big brand names, It is a foam/latex mattress and is guaranteed for 20 yrs(I think) I'll be buying another next time... jjcanoe
  12. man I'm old! That happened on the first day of my first trip to Algonquin when I was in High school, we were going to canoe Opeongo but took the water taxi instead because of the high winds. hadn't heard anything about the tornado at all and then we got to Barrie and saw where it cut across the highway into the racetrack, didn't know if it was an explosion of some sort or what happened but there was debris everywhere, stopped at the cookstown service center and asked what had happened. jjcanoe
  13. yep I drive my truck to QC and stop at the petro pass or Irving to fuel up the truck and stock up for long weekends! jjcanoe
  14. listen to 680am and they have a traffic report every 10 mins ( on the 1's) it is very trustworthy and they'll let you know where the backups are jjcanoe
  15. Now thats where you're wrong, we did not vote to kill the spring bear hunt, nobody did, it was killed by the P3Ta wackos pressuring the Ontario gov't. it was not an election issue and the hunt cancellation was a HUGE suprise to all with very little (if any) public consultations, the general public had absolutly nothing to do with the cancellation regardless of where they live. Also, if in fact that the majority of the vote is in the south as well as the population, doesn't that mean the majority of the hunters are also in the south? I find it unlikly that they would be the cause of this.... The hunt was killed by P3Ta wackos (a huge global entity and plenty live in northern Ontario) jjcanoe
  16. MY RANT.... 1st off I hope the guy recovers fully from his injuries. I guess it's ok to kill this bear since it's in the north, seems that the London police were doing they're job by preventing a bear attack, where were the Coldwater police? That guy should have used all his "bearwise" knowledge they drill into your head up north. Why wasn't the poor bear trapped and brought to some happy place in the north rather than giving it the death sentence, was the nearest bear patrol officer 3 or 4 hrs away? I guess what I'm trying to say is that a nusiance bear is a nusiance bear no matter where it is, don't give us "southererns" a hard time about our problems when you have the same problems which you told us you were ready to deal with (in the London bear post) right in your own back yard. This is not a north south thing, it's a bear thing, Bring back the spring bear hunt! jjcanoe
  17. Thanks for all the help guys, Dan I'll get a hold of you sometime this week! jjcanoe
  18. yep 265!
  19. That wet grass thing was with my RWD Dakota , my off road vs Slowpokes = I don't have a snorkle and 40" of clearance for my Diff! I'm getting 15.5 mpg with this truck and my foot isn't nearly as big as Slowpokes Jeeps of any kind are notoriously bad on fuel mileage due to the big flat windshield. I get 6.0 MPG with my frieghtliner
  20. 2005 dodge ram 1500 5.7 4x4!
  21. A second set of snows are way, way out of the budget, and snow/mud traction is important to me. Is there a big difference in fuel economy with between the A/T's and the all seasons? Don't do any in bed hauling other than gear for the cottage/camping,(a few 100 lbs at most).... I do tow my boat here and there it weighs in at around 1000lbs but I'm guessing that it wouldn't affect the load range of the tire I would need, (correct me if I'm wrong) jjcanoe
  22. I'm getting nothing but positive stuff about these tires, you're from Dunsford, where is your shop Lindsay or Peterborough or Bobcaygeon?? I'm way down here in London so it's a bit of a hike lol jjcanoe
  23. Great job! wait until you get into some big ones! jjcanoe
  24. 17/32" tread depth on the highcountry I do some off roading when fishing and have been stuck before with all seasons thats why I'm looking more at the All Terrains, The snow around here in London can get nasty real quick and I work out of town 25km, how are those michelins in the snow and muck? jjcanoe
  25. upper limit is around $1200 including 4 tires, install, balancing etc. stems (all work) tax, tax, TSF tax (at least there's no Hst yet) LT 265/70R17 jjcanoe
