  1. I put a set of Nokian wrg2's on and I am surprised at how good they are for an all weather tire. Little noiser on dry pavement but not bad.
  2. Well said.
  3. You might want to look around at what used motors some marinas have. Might get a good deal as they don't want to keep them over the winter. Also they have usually checked them out. You may pay a little more but it lowers your risk of hidden problems as opposed to buying off Kijiji.
  4. I find Seaguar to be the best.
  5. I remember looking at this boat when I bought mine. Is there side storage compartments that you can reach into to get access to the underside to fasten a backing plate and nuts? I might be thinking of the wrong years model but I think it was 2004.
  6. I use the energizer dual purpose for starting, downriggers and electronics and have never had a problem. I have a power pack just in case but have never had to use it. I think this will be the fourth season on the energizer. The energizer are relatively cheap and so far so good.
  7. Sounds like it may be the coils. I had this problem with my old Johnson kicker. I would describe it as surging but jumping might describe it as well.
  8. It's a sad state of affairs when you have to take your ketchup bottle out to the garage for modifications before use. Don't get me started on the way some kids toys are fastened to the packaging, or the fact that my coffee pot spills half the coffee until you have poured the first couple cups.
  9. My son has a Rocket fishing rod and it is useless for fishing. However when the fish are not biting he always set his rod down and loves to pull it out and shoot it out and pretend it's a gun. Keeps him amused so not a total waste of money.
  10. I have the same situation as you (fishfinder, gps, 2 downriggers and use kicker). I picked up one of the energizer deep/cycle batteries and have had no problems. Probably not the best batteries but pretty cheap and the one I have in my 14' just used for lights and starting is going on 6 or 7 years.
  11. I watched it last weekend and thought it was pretty good. Half the movies I watch these days I feel like I have seen before because they just rehash old story lines so this one was a nice change. I would recommend it.
  12. Followed that pattern to a T. You would also try and look at the good points. At least the bugs are not as bad, it's not snowing and most importantly at least the ice in the beer cooler is holding up well.
  13. Your probably right. The only reason I went with the plated one was because for my set up I will need to bend the rod and in the reviews some one had suggested the stainless was difficult to bend into the shape you need. If it wasn't for that fact I definitley would go stainless. No doubt the first scratch will occur while bending. Besides that though in general the bar and all the connectors seem pretty solid.
  14. I ordered the Panther one by Marine Tech from Cabelas. Actually it just arrived about an hour ago on the courier. It seems like decent quality and was only $28.99 for the zinc plated model, stainless is about double.
  15. Fishing when I really should be at work always seems the best.
  16. I get my wife to stand at the end of the dock and hold firmly while I hold the other end. Then I tell her to pull. This way if she falls backwards the rod has a soft landing.
  17. Not sure how far you want to travel but for walleye you would be better heading down around Midland or Penetang Bay or the West side of Beausoliel Island. Not many walleye in around the hub area of Honey Harbour. Kinda depends on the size of boat you are in. It can get rough quickly through the Gap if a storm kicks up.
  18. I have an old 35 merc and on it you do have to reach around and lift the lever to put it down.
  19. I looked at them last fall. Never owned one but the one thing I liked on them was the aluminum floor. Especially after replacing a the floor in mine a couple years ago. Not a job I want to tackle again any time soon.
  20. I would take a look at the Starcrafts. I don't see them mentioned as often but everyone I know who as owned one even ones that are now 20 and 25 years old have been very happy with them. They also have ones that don't have all the bells and whistles but are alot more reasonably priced like the d-star dlx models. I don't think they are making them for 2007 but I'm sure there still a bunch of 2006's around. And I would agree with the vinyl flooring I put it in when I redid the floor on my little 14' aluminum and would never go back to carpet. I was worried about how it would hold up but it has been 3 years and it still looks like new. If you have a dog that sheds alot you will really appreciate it.
