  1. I buy on eBay quite often. I buy all my custom rods from eBay sellers. The savings are enormous and the rods are much nicer as you get them as you want.I tend to buy mostly from sellers who have eBay stores and their sell records in the thousands, which show they have been around for a while. If their sells are lower than 50 I will not buy, no sense taking a chance.I buy hockey cards, knives (which I collect) and camera equipment all on eBay. I have yet to be burnt. I also deal with the same sellers quite a bit , so the chances of being ripped off are less likely, just keep them in your favorite sellers list. eBay then sends you emails to let you know when they have items for bid that you are interested in. The only thing I don't agree with is when the seller tells you he will give you a positive rating once you receive your item and give him a positive rating. I think the seller should automatically give you a positive once they receive payment, how more positive is that, getting paid right away,I mean they have our money. We should not have to wait for them to screw up on our order and then give us a bad rating because we negative them because of their nonsense. Many of my sellers agree with me and give me the positive right away.Don't be afraid to tell them.
  2. The funniest one I witnessed was when I took my 23' Four Winns Fisherman up to Lake Kipawa with my bother-in-law, who brought up his new 16' fiberglass boat.We got to the government docks and had both sides to ourselves. The ramps were about 50-75 feet apart from each other. I got my boat ready and launched her in about 5 mins. ,I then proceeded to unload the truck of gear etc. and load up the boat. While doing this I glanced over to my brother-in-law to see how he was doing. He was relatively new to launching on his own, but he did help me many times before,so he did have some experience. I did not want to interfere because I knew he wanted to prove himself. As I loaded I noticed him backing the boat into the water. (Note the cement ramp ended just so far out and had a sharp drop off at the end) He had the trailer well into the water and I noticed the boat had not released into the water properly. He then backed up a little more and again a little more trying to jolt the boat off the trailer. Know where I am going with this? I now stood at the other dock, stopped loading and watched as he backed up a little more backing the trailer wheels off the end of the ramp. I quickly ran over to help. When I got there I noticed the boat was now floating. The problem, so was the trailer. At this point my brother-in law had removed himself from his car, put my sister in the car to keep her foot on the brake. To make things worse the car kept going backwards down the ramp. I did all I could do , I grabbed the back corner of the car and pushed, planting my feet. I yelled to my sister to put the emergency brake on. While we held the car in place my brother-in-law jumped into the cold water and swam to the back of the trailer and disconnected the tie downs, thus releasing the boat from the trailer. I then joined him in the water and helped lift the trailer back on the ramp, which had dropped once the tie downs were taken off, then my sister drove the trailer back to the safety of shore! I have to say this could have got to a much more serious point, but it didn't. He was lucky and right after I got out of the water I fell to the ground and laughed my head off for 10 minutes, my poor brother-in-law looked as he had aged 50 years. To this day we both laugh about it.
  3. Good job, you will definitely like it. Big improvement over the old units.
  4. Sometimes the foot peddle is the culprit. Just unscrew the top of the peddle cover and apply faucet grease on the moving parts. When my older unit would turn one way and not the other, this is what I did and it fixed it just light new.You can also grease the shaft in certain spots and that also helps.
  5. Rage, some here....http://www.jibjab.com/view/161841
  6. Looks a lot like Christmas I am originally from Montreal and back in the fifties we had snow similar to that. We would toboggan off the garage roofs and climb out the second floor windows to get out of the house. Pictures are great , they bring back a lot of memories.
  7. Question.... When putting the OFC into the picture , should one not put the year and date also?
  8. I have had the same problem. I only stop in on the way up north as habit. I usually buy in the clothing department where they seem to have good sales and things that actually fit me. I don't buy much at all in the fishing dept. there, I find they still have too much of an American flavour there. I go to a couple of small local guys who bring in what ever I need and match BPS prices and most cases give better .
  9. I used to have a 55 Minn kota on my 18 '6 Lund. It did fine, but could have been better especially on windy days, had to fight the turning. Since then I replaced the 55 with a Terrova 80 on the 18'6 and just bought a 55 Terrova for my 16' Lund, it is plenty for that boat. I would recommend at least the 80 or the 110 for a 19', 24 volt for sure.More is always better than not quite enough..
  10. I use frogg toggs rain suits. They have just about every type there is. You can buy the regular material they are famous for at BPS. The one in the pic is the Gore tex frogg togg fishing suit with bib. I bought 7 sets of these for my family directly from the plant in Tennessee . The cost was $57.00 for each full set on sale. The only place in Ontario where I could find these they were $200.00. They have a site on the net and have specials from time to time. They also sell on eBay. They have the pro style fisherman and cheaper ones, the one I have on is the top of the line fisherman made with gore tex. Very breathable and light.
  11. Well its nice to see the gals like to fish. There are some pretty awesome pictures of them showing off their fish. Many that would envy even the most skilled, hardened fisherman.Great to see and hear from the folks who love one of the greatest sports and hobbies on earth. Thanks folks and nice to hear from you all. LundGuy
  12. I agree with all you said. I always went 7 to 9 hours north both east and west of North bay.I did this since I was 18 years old, now almost 60,it was time to change. I went to many different camps, some on islands, some drive to, but all in remote areas. Always Lakes or camps where there were multiple types of fish. I never rented boats, I always had my own.Did a lot of portaging. Now I am older and getting tired of dragging everything with me I finally bought my own camp, 8 hrs up, northeast of S.S.Marie on a lake that is 13 miles long, loaded with Walleye, Bass and Pike. Around us are about 15 Lakes that hold almost every species of fish, all within 10 mins. of my camp. Now I just drive up there and relax, but still way up there, which I love. Peace and quiet, 10-12 hours on the lake, home not far away.Well my summer home that is .
  13. Now thats funny, looks par for the course
  14. Not touching that one, heard the gals talk in here
  15. Wow, ok she is definitely invited out in my boat, for the fish of course
  16. The reason she was bending over was to pick that fish out of the water , right?
  17. Now I mean, do they fish along side of you, or do they just go out for the boat ride? My wife actually fishes with me, has her own equipment (fishing that is) and usually out fishes me.
  18. Well one thing I do know is how it effects me and my bones!
  19. I also find the heavy ones just too still. The main difference is in the shaft, one has more back bone and actually weighs more. What I use is St Croix's Legend Elite casting . Specs below, this is also ok for some heavy Walleye trolling or Pike if desired. The line size for the heavy one in this class is 14 to 25lb. Also have St Croix's Legend Tournament casting rods. These are great rods and can be used for different types of fishing. Model Elite EC70MF 7' /Med shaft /Fast tip /1 piece /10lb - 17lb /1/4 - 5/8 /4.1 oz Model Tourn. LTBC70MHF 7' /MH /Fast /1 / 12 - 20 /3/8 - 1 /4.4 oz Model Tourn. LTBC70MM 7' /M /Mod. /1 /8 - 14 /1/4 - 5/8 /3.0 oz
  20. Great motor. I have two of them, 55 Terrova, just got it for my 16 ' and 80 Terrova is on my 18'6 . Good power, nice to handle, controls on foot peddle can be used in different ways. Very easy to let down into water and even easier to bring back up compared to the older style units. If you are looking for one , check out Angling Outfitters just west of Woodstock on # 2 highway. I just picked up two units there for my bother in law and myself. They had just received a shipment. They blew BPS prices out of the water. Ask for Joslyn.
  21. How long does this run? A month, season ?
  22. Nice pics. Getting me going here with the summer pics......
  23. It was $55.50 for subscription right?
  24. These are the two that I use, both come with carrying case. One a very small compact black case (shimano exage ax stc te travel spinning rod). The other a small green tube(St Croix Tidemaster® Inshore Casting Travel Rod) both come in different lengths. I use both and they are very reliable and well balanced. They vary in price. Angling Outfitters in Woodstock carries the Shimano ones .
