  1. I've been to this place a couple of times when I was trying to price a boat. Both times I felt that they didn't have time for me to discuss anything about what I was looking for. Simply handed me a brochure suggested I look at it and call for pricing. Great customer service. Anyway sorry to hear that this occurred to you and thanks for posting this only to confirm my gut feelings about this place.
  2. That's great and congrats to your son. Hope it hasn't spoiled your son for future catches.
  3. Great looks like Rosedale is a great contender and will for sure take ROOK's advice as well. But guys what about the fishing at this time of year, tough? especially with this heat wave we're currently going through.
  4. HI everyone. Couple of days ago asked for any tips for Cameron Lake. No bites ( no pun intended ) on the topic. Well my interest has shifted to Balsam Lake. Anyone fish there and any tips for this lake for this time of year. Also does anyone know where there is a boat launch on the south end of the lake? Thanks everyone, look forward to your help.
  5. Hi everyone. Hope everyone is well and getting out enough to create some fishing memories. Anyway I thought I would ask if anyone has been trying Cameron Lake this year and how the fishing has been so far. Wanted to try and see whats going over there and maybe get me some eyes. Any thoughts, tips, good or no good or any info. Thanks
  6. That's great. Before you know it he will be constantly wanting to go, and with a little luck he may even out fish you. Great pics by the way.
  7. That's an incredible variety. I'm heading out to Rice lake this weekend and luckily for me I have most of what has been mentioned already. What about any favourites for Rice this time of year? And what about methods, does one method out perform another?
  8. Good to see customer service still exists in the minds of some business owners. Maybe he may have not made as much as he should, but he has gained your loyalty and got himself a ad plug. Not to mention how many people will you tell the story to.
  9. Matco, Snap on, MAC tool jobbers sell similar units for about $200 dollars. If I'm not mistaken it come with a case and a variety of connections to do a lot more than boosting a battery. I have seen these units start a diesel van in winter. My cousin keeps one on his boat just in case. Great idea.
  10. What is your location and how far is not to far?
  11. Thanks for sharing shleppy. My kids will have, I hope a good time.
  12. I have very little faith public representation. Perhaps I am a little too wary, And although the report suggests were heading in the right direction I think the health of the lake will remain the same for many years to come just because of the rise in population in Barrie and surrounding areas. Hopefully the trend stays on the positive swing and not revert. Time will tell.
  13. I have to agree with an earlier post and go with a new one if finances allow for it. It will hold value and come with warranty which will give you peace of mind. This being your first boat and $5000 is your budget do you really want a project? I too am in the market and toyed with both options. Looking on the want ads and seeing what people are asking for their boats and the age of the equipment my hard earned money will better serve me with a new one. Some of the prices are way out there. and what is affordable is either a project or in some cases junk. And that's only for starters, what about the motor that doesn't come with warranty and according to 85% of the ads " well maintained" or " runs great" Just my opinion.
  14. I still have one and with a Suzuki 9.9 on it. With two big adults and gear it moves the boat well. My boat has the coast guard info plate and it is rated for max 10hp. I hope this helps.
  15. Are you kidding, I'll have to check it too. Hopefully I'm not too late.
  16. Well I certainly look forward to what you think Porkpie, as well as all members who have weighed in so far in this matter. Please keep me posted. Thanks. BillM the Hummingbird you suggested, the 859 has a lot to offer and although it is for me out of my budget. Nice machine and seems similar to what I have been looking at aside from brand name.
  17. The reason I've been looking at the CHIRP models is for the ping response time. From what I understand its supposed to be a better technology. How true this is compared to what's on the market today is the reason of this topic. Everyone will claim their product is much more superior than the competitor. As for myself don't know enough about them and all the technical info available is above my level of knowledge. BillM I will look into this model and thanks for you input as well.
  18. I've been leaning towards Lowrance Art just making sure that this investment will be good for more than a couple of seasons. Its not the biggest investment but if your going to cough up some cash you hoping that the decision was a good decision. I've been also looking at the Elite 4x CHIRP with down scanning and chartplotter. What is your opinion on this model?
