  1. alright...I was a bit naughty...I have many days to be nice.

Contact Humminbird, their website has a GPS adapter cable

Contact Lowrance, they should have the same or you can make your own.

NMEA is a standard communication protocol. My Garmin unit has 4 connectors on the back NMEA IN +, NMEA -, NMEA out+ and NMEA out-. The unit is running NMEA 0183

Humminbird can tell you what the other wires you have are for.

the unit Humminbird sells for hooking up to the unit is the GR4 GPS Receiver, its about $100.

  2. Ok i just spooled my rod and man is this stuff hard to cut. My line clippers did nothing, i had to use a pocket knife...

What happened when you tried to use the pocket knife?

Palomar is what I use. The braided lines manufacturer website will have knots to use. Mono is a lot different from braid a lot of knots will slip with braid.

  3. I am trying to recall the number of of boat caught fish pics vs shore fish caught by Kemper. :whistling:

No all boats are equipted with GPS, and fish finders... :whistling:

What does that mean MTBF? I was only noticing that I can't recall Kemper ever posting a pic of a fish he caught on a boat.....I guess one could use a fishfinder in a running river

Why wouldn't someone equip their owned boat with a FF or GPS ? When they

-fish from shore most of time

-can't justify the cost of one

    -know the lake well

    -fish small areas only

    -fish rivers

    -fish infrequently

    -oh yeah...fly fishing guys

Who is fishing a large body of water without either a GPS or fishfinder to make it more sporting?

  4. Fiishfinders make the fishing experience a lot better in situations. When the skunk is on and I see all those fish down below I feel better knowing that it was skill and not chance that was keeping me from catching. I feel more motivated to go out the next time.

GPS: allows more fishing to take place during the day and increases the learning curve.

Nothing worse is the blind leading the blind around a lake. That being said fishing is lazily pleasant and a fun puzzle to figure out.

  5. La baron you say..... think your getting a deal eh!

Here's the proof I'd been watching the Vexilar FL18 and a Floater suit for my Son this was last year. Having full intentions of buying both on boxing day to save a few $$$$$ wouldn't you know it the price went up $35 on the suit and $60 on the Vex. The price on both items was change the day b-4 x-mass. But low and behold a week later both items were reduced to ther original price. Ever wonder why they use that old cash register with the old stick on sticker pricing. MAKES YOU WANT TO SAY ????????

That is something to watch out for. Blatantly illegal too. Did you call them on it?

  7. A lot depends on what/where you fish...but as far as Rapala goes

I noticed a lack of silver minnow colors. The Rapala original floaters and jointed are good all around lures, along with Xraps they are probably a staple of most tackle kits. about $7.50-$8.50 each:

PS: is that a blue/black original floater in there?

  8. This is a bit off topic, but

Not that it has not been said before.

That boaters card is scam perpetrated by our own government so that some people could make a lot of free money in the private sector.

    1) It is VERY easy to cheat and get the card. Just have your buddy do it for you online.

    2) The websites practically give you the answers to the questions

    3) its online

    4) The companies certify you with their own card.....it is not like a drivers license.

    5) There is not a central database saying who has cards.....that info is with the company that gave you the card.

Feel free to correct me on any of those points if I am wrong or ad your own.....

Why not just follow the drivers license systems that are established and proven?

    back on topic.

http://www.boaterexam.com/canada/ has a banner had here. don't pay if you don.t pass.
