1. When the parents and my Aunt & Uncle owned the Land O Lakes Lodge way back when I was a Wee Sprog, we rented out cedar strips to our customers and I don't recall them being fast, probably because they only had small motors on them. I do know that they were pretty heavy because every so often we had to sink them with markers in front of the docks and leave them to soak up the water and tighten the boards. There was a beautiful Cedar Strip runabout on the lake last year that had been restored and it looked brand new. A really nice boat.
2. Yeah Lew, when I was growing up I used to slalom ski behind a Humber Jewel that was way overpowered and I think it's top speed was about 45. That was realllllll fast in the day. Today's boats are just crazy fast!
3. Wasn't the Miss Supertest on display at the Science Centre for a few years?
4. A friend at the cottage has a 31' Fountain with twin 502s in it. He took me and my son for a ride into rosedale for ice cream. Took us about three minutes to get there from Driftwood Village which is a pretty long run. Top speed was 92 mph and he said "the hull is dirty" haha. I had a big smile on my face all the way!
5. I just purchased my Clam Nanook Thermal at Gagnon's sports 1 week after Christmas. Paid $450, they had a deal on so I did not have to pay the taxes. So with the money I saved, I bought the cover for it, that was $56, again no tax. Try giving them a call to see if they have any left. I had a discussion on here not long ago about the bolts that Clam sends with that unit and the general consensus is that they are crap. Clam will send you new bolts if you can wait, I just went to Brafasco and spent $30 and bought Stainless Steel bolts and Nylock nuts instead. You will love this tent, it is awesome and well worth the $$. Hope you find what you are looking for. Stan
6. Thanks for the heads up, I will be getting one this week. SS
7. Hey Don Thanks for the response, I have heard a lot of good things about these units. Stan
8. Yup, that's how I look at it too Wayne. I figured better in the warm garage... SS
9. Haha, now ya tell me!!! I thought about packing it up and taking it back to Gagnon's and telling them to stuff it but for the $25 I paid for all new bolts it was well worth it. Thanks for the info, I will be watching the unit real close now!
10. Yeah thanks Roy, I always keep my eye on our classifieds there are lots of deals to be had there. SS
11. Learn how to Tig weld extremely light aluminum and you will be able to write your own ticket. It is pretty easy to find work if you are good at it and once you learn the aluminum, anything else that you tig comes easy. There are lots of stick welders around but I have only come across two that were exceptional welders, they could do a 6010 root pass and a low hydrogen 7018 cap that looked like it had been done with a robot. Takes lots of practice but once you get good, you're gold. Good Luck with your new career. If you need any info or even career ops P.M. me. Stan
12. I saw on here that there was a sale at Princess Auto on Mr Buddy Heaters about a week and a half ago so I started calling around to all the Princess Autos to find me one. I wasn't having much luck, I tried everything within a couple hundred miles and thought I was out of luck, then I got a hold of someone in Barrie. He said that their store had -1 which made us both laugh and start rambling about how that could have happened. He says "hang on and let me have a look", comes back on and lo and behold he has one in stock. They were on for $99 for the big one 4000-18000 btus, so I asked him how much to ship. It ended up costing me $6.00 plus 65c a pound which was only about $16 on top of the $99. Not bad, now I just have to get out and try it out. My honey also bought a Clam Nanook Thermal for me for Christmas at Gagnon Sports on Boxing day, they didn't charge tax so I saved a good bit. I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the bolts they sent with it though, when I started assembling the unit 4 out of 5 of the bolts they sent with it snapped the heads right off. (anyone else here had this happen with the Clam products?) I went the next day to Brafasco and replaced them all with Stainless Steel bolts and bought Nylock nuts for the whole thing. Went together like a dream after that and I can't wait to get out there and give it a try... Now all I need is a gas auger, well maybe next Christmas!
13. I work for a company that makes a beautiful chipotle rub. I rub that all over a nice Delmonico (rib eye) from Buckingham's Butcher in the shwa and cook it over a hot grill for 6 to 7 minutes per side depending on how thick to a perfect medium rare every time. Make sure you only flip the steak once. mmmmmmmmm good!!
14. Wayne No sleds and no huts, just a real good survival suit and a toboggan with lots of rods and gear. I may be better off going somewhere where they supply everything and put me on the fish. I have never ice fished up that way so I really don't know who has huts and who is going to get us on the fish best. Any suggestions? SS
15. Hey Wayne I would be very interested in the camp near you, but I am only doing a weekend. Would the camp be available for a weekend only deal? Let me know and I will book it as soon as possible. Thanks guys for all the responses. SS
16. Here's a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at the airports: All we need to do is develop a booth that you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have hidden on or in your body. The explosion will be contained within the sealed booth. This would be a win-win for everyone. There would be none of this crap about racial profiling and the device would eliminate long and expensive trials, let alone speed up and simplify the whole traveling experience. This is so simple that it's brilliant. I can see it now: you're in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly thereafter an announcement comes over the PA system, "Attention, standby passengers! We now have a seat available on flight number..." Works for me! SS

17. I am trying to plan a weekend with the boys to the Temagami area for some ice fishing in the last two weeks of Jan. Not really sure where to go. Looking to fish for Walleye, Whitefish, Crappie or whatever. Anybody have any spots that would be productive? Not looking for GPS waypoints, just a lake or general area to start from. Send me a P.M. if you don't want to post up here. Thanks Guys. SS
18. Hey Matt I give mine to John @ Tightlines on Brock and he sends them in to Shimano to do the service. They usually take up to 3 weeks but the job is done A1. Good Luck. Stan

22. I got a great deal on a gently used Shimano Chronarch two years ago off E Bay for $100.00. Sent it to Shimano through John @ Tightlines. Had it back in a short time all cleaned up oiled and a new nut on the handle that I had lost. Can't beat that!
23. Very nice work bushart. I have to say that your paintings look a lot like some of Vincent Van Gogh's work. Very nice indeed!! I wish I could paint. Keep up the good work. Stan
24. The Fisher Price rods are pretty good too, they even replaced my daughter's about 15 years ago when she dropped it in the lake.
25. There's just no beatin a Shimano Crucial...
