  1. Nice fish troutnmuskiehunter. I was out on the weekend on Frenchman's Bay for a few hours but we didn't get even a nibble. I did however take a couple of pics of the guy next to me with about 8 lines down. He was the only guy out there from about 20 people that had more than the legal limit. You count them in the pic, I think I counted 10 at one time. He was looking around all the time and I am sure he knew that he was in the wrong. I wandered over and told him that the law says two lines and he just laughed at me and said "On the rock, nobody tells us how many or how much". Don't know exactly what that meant but I just walked back to my tipups and continued fishing. Funny thing, when I was leaving, I was saying to a bud that I didn't know what I was going to do with all the minnows I had left and boy did he come over to have a look in my minnow box in a hurry. I never offered and he never asked, I just made sure to give them to someone within visual sight when I was leaving. When I got half way off the bay at the end of the day I heard him yelling and looked back to see him hoisting a very large Pike up to show the others, Man that frosts me!!! What would all of you have done? I have heard that if you call the MNR, they don't show up in the majority of cases and I didn't plan on being out there much longer anyway. Sorry if I hijacked your thread but it just occurred to me that I might have been able to do more to stop this guy from doing this again in the future, I just don't know what action that would have been.
  2. I am very surprised that nobody has recommended a big of feed of Crappie. I have always argued that there was no better tasting fish than Walleye, that is until two summers ago when I had my first Crappie filets. They are even better tasting than my beloved Walleye and they have a nice firm flesh that is sooooooo tasty any way they are cooked up. Won't be long now and I will be out gettin some!! Try them with some of the awesome sounding recipes on here and I guarantee, you got a sure hit. Be sure to let us all know what you think. Good Luck SS
  3. I'm on Rogers in Pickering, can anyone tell me what the channel is supposed to be. I see a show called "Rome" on the History channel tomorrow at 9:00. Looked up and down the channels but couldn't seem to find it. Looks like a very interesting show though. SS
  4. The blood knot works quite well for me. I just gotta figure out how to do it in the dark. http://www.animatedknots.com/bloodknot/index.php
  5. Couldn't sleep, going to do some perchin at Simcoe. I have heard that the perch are on fire in the Virginia Beach area so I decided to try it out. I will post a little later with all my pics. lol If anyone else is going out, good luck to ya and be careful.

  7. Welcome to neighborhood. Those are some beauty fish. Hope to see lots more pics of fish like that.
  8. Ability Metals in Pickering is another good spot, it is just south of Tightlines on Brock Rd. I will also be needing some aluminum to rebuild my boat over the next couple of months so hopefully you will get lots of responses here and I can price around. Good Luck
  9. Hey Roy Thanks for the site, I feel so much better now that Norton is gone. Funny thing is the site you sent me too runs you through how to get rid of it and then at the bottom it tells you the newest and better way. LOL Anyhoo, it worked as far as I can see and it was quite easy. Thanks again. Stan
  10. As a lot of people are suggesting, I highly recommend the Remington 870 Express Mag. I have owned this gun for a long time now and it has never let me down, it is rugged and can be used for pretty much anything. I was told when I bought mine that the action on the 870 Express is the same as the higher end Remingtons and it is an awesome action, never had any trouble with it. I use mine for Duck and Deer only but thats because I found that it was a little too heavy for Partridge on the wing. I now use a 22 with a peep sight for Partridge, when they flush, I just watch where they land and stalk them to within 20 or 30 yds and pop... Anyway good luck and here is a good site for some info on the Remington 870 http://www.remington.com/products/firearms...guns/model_870/ Stan
  11. Hi Rick I too would like to get rid of all traces of Norton on my PC. If you do find those removal tools, please post or send to me as well. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Stan Sharp
  12. I didn't get a chance to get out Deer Hunting this year and I would really like to get out with my 30-06 and see if it still shoots straight. Does anyone know where there is a 100 yard range in the general area of Pickering that I can go to? I used to go to Cold Creek up near Nobleton but that has been shut down for quite some time now. Any help from all the shooters on this site would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  13. If you are interested in buying used, you might want to try the kijiji site. I have purchased many very good, very cost efficient items from this site. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/f-snowblower-Clas...wordZsnowblower
  14. Hey Irishfield I would need to have a lot of faith in those holders to be hanging a nice expensive rod and reel overboard like that. YIKES!! SS
  15. Is it Montreal Steak Spice or Lawrys? They both do the job right proper anyway.
  16. I called the Whitby store (905-668-5828) at 4:15 pm to try a special order and they told me the only store with any available is North Bay (705-472-3000). Apparently they have two in stock. Too far to go?? The lady also told me that the stores will not be re-ordering the item. Good Luck Stan
  17. I have a Garmin eTrex Legend for sale. It is still in the box. I played with it for a couple of hours but never used it for anything. Now I have my Garmin Nuvi 360 so... PM me if you are interested, I will let it go for cheap. Stan
  18. The biggest problem would be which car to start working on first and how do you get it out. LOL
  19. Subject: What Was In The Barn? A New York man retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15yrs.; the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but there was a large barn that had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway......so, nobody made an offer on the place. The NY guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth, moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn.......curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator, and a couple of grinders.......and cut thru the welds. What was in the barn...............? Go to: www.intuh.net/barnfinds/afa70.htm Go to; www.intuh.net/barnfinds/afa70.htm and start wishing it was you who had bought the place. Click on the index Oh yeah Click on the index for some more tidbits on this article. Thanks Bly for pointing that out.
  20. When I was smokin, I was buying the Backwoods in Vanilla flavour. Of course they really aren't considered "Cigars" but they taste great. Here's what they look like, you can get them in any Variety Store. http://www.cigar.com/cigars/viewcigar.asp?brand=20
  21. Macanudo's, Esplendido's and Monte Cristo #3s were my favs. When I quit smoking cigs three years ago, I let my Humidor fall into disrepair (no humididty) and threw out about $1000.00 worth of really awesome cigars. Kinda wish I had looked after them now.
  22. Actually Beavers are vegetarians (herbaceous) so I don't think they would be a problem. Now, snappers would be a problem!! lol. Stan
  23. Small Game license is correct and Canadian Tire for sure, that's where I always get mine. Call Jim Novakowski at 905 240 0087 (Oshawa area) and if he does not teach the course you are looking for, he will be able to tell you where or who... Good Luck
  24. Been fishing Balsam since I was thirteen and have never heard of or caught a Pike there. I hope they never make it up to the highest lake on the Trent. Started fishing Crappies just two years ago on Balsam though, never knew they existed on our lake before then.
  25. If it is indeed such a "rough ride" wouldn't that increase the odds of the boat (rivets) leaking with all the pounding it takes? I have heard a lot of negatives on this board and a few others in regards to the Legend name. I figure that if the boat is safe, I won't find anything as good for the money. Perhaps that is not the case. By the way BigCliff, what is a Pike Hull??
