It's best that you ask the vendor yourself. My only experience is with tacklewarehouse, and they give you the UPS next day shipping for $15 with no brokerage fees, and taxes at your door is close to 15%(I'm guessing 13%?). Some vendors seem to give you a good deal for shipping, while others will give another hole in your

Unless there was some major tweeking from the 565 to the 570, I seem to be leaning towards the Lowrance. I am assuming that my 565 doesn't have enough PTP watts, and seem to lose sight of swivels when ice fishing deeper than 10FOW, BUT, I can see my jig even at 25FOW easy. Don't know what the case that is, my swivel is the one of the smallest available, and I guess its profile isn't the best either to be seen on sonar. The dual beam isn't able to be used on the humminbird until you have fish ID on, which I find that I shouldn't be using all that often. 640 and 480 pixels do make some difference, but I think the zoom features would make that difference negligible. I sure like the sound of 4000w PTP and 20 bucks less. All in all, both should be great, good luck with your purchases!

Bass Pro's Spring into Fishing Flyer is Up
EC1 replied to Great Lake Steel's topic in General Discussion
I was hoping for some good fishing lines to go on sale. Having something like Tufline XP at half price last year was great, they've only got powerpro at 20% off. The mono's have some deals, but mono is cheap to begin with. As for fishfinders going on sale, I'm kind of glad I bought it earlier and got to use it twice on the ice. There doesn't seem to be any super deals on those either. I'm surprised the Daiwa Bradia made it over here. I'm guessing Japan is discontinuing it, and the North American companies jumped onto it. Certainly a decent deal, 169.99 for something that is just under a certate. Not to mention being a JDM product. The only thing that I want is the gulp. Those things cost a fortune and I'll take a deal on them any day. -
Northumberland today Article on Rice lake issue

Great article! Thanks to those that are standing up for the fishery with all of your research and time at those meetings! -
Excited as ever to take my baitcaster out for a spin! Someone posted it last year, but Roll up the Rim to Win is IN! Another sign of spring!

Goretex treated me great last year. I was in the exact same situation as you, and I got soaked on a number of occasions. I waited for Cabelas to make a sale for their goretex jackets, and jumped on one for about 100 bucks. I can see the jacket lasting many years, hopefully lasting another 5-10 years. I suggest getting the full set of jacket and pants that are waterproof. If you want a long day out on the water in the rain, you won't be too happy that your bottom half of your body is completely soaked. I probably wouldn't go on to using goretex pants, but will try for cheaper alternatives.

Thanks for all the replies to my vex/hbird/marcum post

Nice Machine. I'm sure it will do you well on the ice for the coming years! -
Wish I did! Kinda sad that I only went out on the ice once when I had an entire week off school! So it comes down to fishing down a bucket! And thanks cram, I think I'm just gonna put it away and wait for the ice this coming weekend.

Alright guys, so recently I bought a new Humminbird 565 after reading about the fantastic stuff you guys said about it. Although I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to see anything when close to 100FOW, I don't mind since I won't be doing that very often anyways. On the very first trip I took it out, it seemed to work flawlessly, and I could see my jig going down 20ft easily. Only problem was that I lost track of the swivel after about 7' of going down. I still haven't been able to play around with everything as the fish were already on at the time and there was no time to fool around So when I come home to actually play around with it, it starts to act all wonky, but I'm not sure if this is right. I can place the transducer into a 5 gallon bucket filled with water, which is about 1.5FOW only, but it returns back something along the lines of 5' to 10'. The depths seem to constantly jump around. And when I put down a jig into it to play around (right under the transducer), it is not visible on the fishfinder. Only when I place my hand under the transducer will something be picked up, and even then the display looks like it's weeds. Is it that I am putting the transducer in a small space that it's getting the wrong readings, or has something gone wrong with the fishfinder? Thanks guys, I know this might be just a case of not having enough time to play with the finder while out on the ice.

Did you try the exact same thing with your jigging rod (jiggle it and then pause for a while)? I would also guess there is a specific colour that they wanted. I've had places fishing for crappie where they would only respond to one colour favourably. Or you might have just had a terrible case of lockjaw.

If you wanna do that, I suggest waiting for a deal at CT. There, sometimes a Plano soft sided carry bag + 4 boxes will cost about 25, which is cheaper than buying 4 boxes alone. But then again, you gotta be pretty lucky to go in for them at the right time.

Being in one a few weeks ago, I just have to say that there is a lack of space for two people. Even with the hut unzipped in parts to make more space, I found that especially with my bass hooksets on the ice, I find myself hitting the wall of the hut often. If you were to zip everything all the way down, there is even less space. Make sure you get anchors if it's windy out. Without someone sitting there, the hut will be blown away faster than you can catch it. The advantages of it are, no set up times at all, just slap it on the ice and unfold. It still beats having to sit in the elements when the wind is really bad.

The last two games you put up are quite fun! Good time wasters when you're really bored. Thanks. 4.44 in 169. I need improvements!!

Last year they had shimano as part of it. That sucks for whoever wants a shimano this year though. But I have to say, Shimano's USDM offerings aren't even all that amusing to me, apart from the CI4

Ahh! Loved this episode. Too bad I find out about boyd duckett's bass two days into the tournament. If only I found that out earlier, my roster for the fantasy fishing wouldnt include duckett

wow, mighty good stuff! Thanks for sharing it!

Agreed with solo. I saw it at first, and was very keen to try until I saw the price tag. If I do ever get this stuff though, I think I might have to put another leader on it so I won't use it up too quickly. I can see though, a single backlash on the baitcaster that can't be undone and it will ruin an entire fishing trip.

Bill, actually the prices all went UP. I belive the 2009 Sahara went up by close to $20 compared to the 2008 one Supposedly the quality of the main reel and spool went UP, and to protect your price from going even higher, they took out the spare spools!
-
They just started to take away the spare spool last year. And even now shimano doesn't even give a spare spool for the new stradic CI4! a $200 reel that has the reel, and ONLY the reel! I wonder if they're gonna start taking the spools out when they start redesigning the stellas and sustains

I had very high hopes with a 08? sized Purple Ghost xrap last year, and all it ever hooked me was a muskie and nothing else ever again! The white does seem promising, I think I will be getting that sometime this year BTW, that orange colour does look like a good fish catching colour anyways.

I am pretty much in the same position as you! Fished my canoe like 4 times all of last year, and I plan on fishing the hell out of it this year! I have a 12' flatback, so it mounted the motor quite easy, but if you don't have a flatback, you will have to make a mount for it yourself. I have a trolling motor, that's honestly the first investment you should make. It will help you get to spots that are a little bit further much quicker, and save your arms for fishing if you do go to a spot that's 20 minutes away from your launching spot. I'm also in the market for a fishfinder too! Was thinking about going cheap for that, but at the same time I have this feeling if I go cheap, I will have to replace it in the near future again. Not too sure where I'm gonna go with that yet. I find with my canoe, there's not much of a chance to stand without a stabilizer, but hell, sitting and fishing on a canoe still beats standing on shore with a bunch of people in the same spot.
-
Can't help you find one, because I've never bought one of these in the first place. But my mom did find one in perch colour on the ground during a fishing trip though! Never really caught me any fish though. Only snagged a huge carp in the back with it I would also say take a look inside the Lebaron stores. There always seems to be a pile of discontinued crankbaits on sale, although the selection is very limited.

I kind of have mixed feelings about this now. Lots of people say it is marketing, but at the same time I believe that the ice line really works. I used sufix elite on my very first ice fishing trip (and I loved it so very much during softwater), but it was absolutely terrible on the ice! Then I bought myself some actual ice line and found that it works much better, and after some line conditioner, the line works almost as well as sufix would during softwater.

As much as I hate to be a buzzkill, I like it this winter No shoveling, mild temps, and bring on the open water Kawartha Panfish!

I don't know what tubes you're specifically wanting to ask about, but I hear the Ika's are good stuff! I have the panfish sized ika, and it's done great! I will be trying the normal or the fat ika for bass under docks or something this year.
