  1. That thing must have been a handful!!!! Congrats on the fish
  2. I'm thinking of making up a little sign and pounding it into the sand with a little reminder message. Hell, I'd even bring down MY OWN garbage can for these idiots to use, pick it up once a week and drop it off at the Essa municipal works department which is 5 mins down the road. I don't mind stuff like banana peels or apple cores or anything that is bio-degradable. Fishing line is the absolute worst. Why do people think we are losing more and more land to private land owners that are just ticked off at people not respecting their property? (btw, thanks to the mod who edited my title, I was a bit peaved lastnight)
  3. Nice report! Looks like you hit turnover at just the right time
  4. Went down to the Notty today to give the steelies another try. No luck after 2hrs so I decided to pack it in.. I noticed the area where I was standing was just littered with fishing line. I filled 3 XL Tim Horton cups with rolled up mono.. Not 4, 6 or 8lb mono but 20lb crap that could easily tangle and kill wildlife. The next time I see someone toss fishing line on the bank, I'm throwing them in the river! This is EXACTLY why the township of Essa is charging $40 to fish within their municipality.. Completely avoidable.... Hell it would be easier to roll up the line and put it in your vest then pull it through the guides, off the reel and onto the ground. Back to the UFC and more MGD's!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. A few MGD's and the fight is going to be a good way to spend the night
  6. I have the green CTC hip waders and they are tough for sure. No problems thrashing through the bush all summer for specs. They held up great.
  7. No salmon for me but a few shakers this year in the Notty. I'll most likely be fishing it again this weekend.. The cooler temps at night should have gotten things going a bit. I'll still most likely be tossing spinners as I haven't made my mind up about a float rod/reel or a noodle rod/spinning setup.
  8. I am usually out with my partner in crime (my dad) but I do occasionally get out by myself if the oldman isn't up for it. Usually just hit Severn or Gloucestor and pound the shore for a few hours. Never if the weather is bad. I do however stream fish myself all the time. Always have my cell with me, it's a reasonably safe thing to do.
  9. Al, I have a perfect cure for your blues. STEELHEAD FISHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Bingo '99.5 Jetta TDI. I'll also add that after a few mods, it's been dyno'd at 131whp/251ftlbs.. Stock is 90/155. Makes it a much funner car to drive, lol. I also have almost 500,000km's on it. And a 1000km's on a tank is nothing, I can get her over 1400km's per tank without to much effort.
  11. Fuel costs me about $50-60 per week. Not to bad considering it's over 1000km's per week just for work and back.
  12. I think Shelley and Courtney take the cake before Lunkerville
  13. Painful is not the correct word, I am sure we could find something worse
  14. I probably wouldn't bring kids down there. The trail down can be a bit challenging.
  15. For shore fishing, you'll need some decent braid, a few jigs and some live shrimp Depending on where you are going, you should have no problems catching whitings, ladyfish, spanish mackerel, pomps and even some sea trout.
  16. Ugh, those are horrible times to be on any 400 series highway.. I work 7-4 and drive from Barrie > Mississauga. I just miss the traffic.
  17. Wayne, those are identical to the ones I've been using. I end up with a boot full of burrs/leaves and sweat everytime I use them, lol
  18. My oldman has a pair of Simms and loves them to death. There is a pair at BPS for $199 that are XXL's that I am looking at.
  19. What time would you be driving? If it's early the 401 would be the way to go.
  20. Thanks man, I am just getting into steelheading and need all the help I can get
  21. It didn't when I was there and still doesn't
  22. It will only mention it if there is an exclusion. If it's not mentioned, the season closed on the 30th of Sept.
  23. So many answers to this question We need to know what goals the OP has before we start to offer advice.
  24. Are the BARE's in a similar price range of the Simms?
  25. Make friends with your local farmers who's fields are on the river bank Private property, the township couldn't do a thing even if they wanted to. I still won't be buying that $40 pass, I pay my fees already with the price of the sport license and my taxes. I also do my part in cleaning up the river anytime I go down there (I gotta admit, I haven't found much garbage)
